Bitcoin was briefly described on Polish news:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8zsGVuD3qM

Polsat is a very popular Polish TV station. The news is pretty positive overall, their only concern is that it may be a speculative bubble at the moment and also, that there are very few places (in Poland) accepting Bitcoin.

Dwolla is the most popular client?

When one views the level of accuracy in these articles it demonstrates how you really can't trust the media to give you right reporting on  anything.

It's a pretty reasonable article. Almost anything short of a peer-reviewed journal article is going to be laden with a few inaccuracies or minor misrepresentations.

Yes, as a french person I can confirm that "Le Monde" is the most important newspaper in France.  I'll check the paper edition in case there is something.

Just for proper [Citation Needed] credit when the google-bot archives this:

Hi, I'm allinvain, you might know me from a heist that took place when I had little to no personal security. That's right, my failure to consider my situation resulted in the loss of some bitcoins. Don't be like me, take the proper precautions with your wallet.

Well, they say any publicity is good publicity. It might attract a lot of people who get curious about it, obviously this cannot be held against the idea behind the technology and most people will hopefully recognize that.

Google News Front Page!!!   Grin

I don't know about how it's showing up in where you live, but here, on news.google.com , a Bitcoin news just made the front page!

The article is from TheTechHerald:

http://www.thetechherald.com/article.php/201124/7283/Malware-targeting-Bitcoins-suspected-in-recent-theft

However, it's mainly about Allinvein's theft though.

Main Dutch computer site with blurb about the 25k BTC heist (first article on Bitcoin there):

it all makes sense now.
bitcoins will be to the web what the qr code / rfid chips money will be to the rest of the world.
And the result will be the exact opposite of what we want, and that will be the end of anonymity for everyone.
pretty sad...

Anybody understand what this guy is talking about?

It's a collector's coin with the currently hip thing, nothing to do with the mainstream. RFID/NFC is coming, whether you like it or not, but that has little to do with Bitcoin. QR codes are little more than barcode 2.0.

Nesico, how about shutting your pie-hole.

You obviously don't know jack about how computing was at that time, or you'd just 'eff off.

Yeah, I'm serious.

eof's dad? Smiley Sorry if I came across as acrimonious, but seeing the oblivious rosily reminiscing about one of the blackest days in computing history (yeah, I was was there, seriously) makes my skin crawl. PM me if you feel the need to retort.

Not at all.  The link was talking about gold and silver coins with a qr code web address printed upon them.  Not a thing about rfid chips.

has the latest Falkvinge piece been mentioned yet? (sorry if I've missed it)

Bitcoin’s Four Drivers: Part One – Unlawful Trade
http://falkvinge.net/2011/06/16/bitcoins-four-drivers-part-one-unlawful-trade/

Quote
BITCOIN’S FOUR DRIVERS
This is an article in a series on what Falkvinge identifies as Bitcoin’s four drivers (plus a surprise opportunity). This is the first article, on unlawful trade. The others are international trade (coming June 18), merchant trade (coming June 20), investment (coming June 22), and a low friction economy (coming June 24).

a Bitcoin article is also being included in the print edition of the Economist
http://www.economist.com/node/18836780

Less technically detailed than the original article which appears in the online blog (Babbage)
