Couldn't sign up with referral link, Captcha is supposedly wrong (Opera 11.5 and Firefox 5). Worked like a charm without any link, but I fear that my referrals might try the same "trick" and it won't work.

Oh, by the way, regarding Captchas...

Site doesn't like good bitcoin addy in Mac Firefox 5.0 when signing up.  Chrome and Safari work.

Thank you very much for information. Probably Mac Firefox 5.0 has peculiarities in parsing regular expressions, I will check it and maybe fix or disable browser-side form validation.

could the stats page include the number of users, and how many have deposited.

Like this?

It seems anodyne is right: maybe it is worth of changing the rules to encourage more deposits.

For example, to limit the sponsor fee the same way as random fee is limited and to send the remainder to random users (so that nobody is interested in creating long sequence of zero-accounts before making a deposit).

The drawback of this approach is that it doesn't ecourage people without money to join and advertise the pyramid for free. Bitcoin Pyramid could be a good entry point to bitcoin world for newbies, similar to Bitcoin Faucet (and that is our common interest to make Bitcoin Pyramid and bitcoin currency popular).

You should put more money in, so that:
  • You're more likely to be randomly picked for future payouts.
  • You put more money in the scheme, making it more attractive for future members.

With (best-guess) 70,000+ active bitcoin users out there(60000+ MtGox accounts, 70000 unique IPs for the client in the last month or so), getting your money in _now_ is a good bet, even if only 1% of current, and zero future users join up.

Thank you for the exact wording, I appreciate that.  I am not sure about the second point: does it motivate anybody to put more money? Also, I wouldn't promise that it is a good bet (though I really believe it is). I would just explain how it works to facilitate informed decisions.

Was hoping to get some advertising links like the randomiser.

also that captcha was a pain, I had to try about 10 times, not sure what I was doing wrong.  Sorry #50 I'm under #73 after 5 captcha attempts I removed the referral info, had some page load problems.

Also heres this one for your amusement...

Probably, we should explain it more simply... The answer for the question "why should I send my money to it" must be in one sentence, without any formulas...

Thanks, I agree with you, but the answer is present on the registration page:

"Any time you can deposit any amount to your permanent deposit address to increase your chances of winning random payments."

Isn't it clear enough?

PS: nice banner Wink

Thank you for your comment. The problem is how to reliably manage links without email & password. After MtGox and Bitcoin Randomizer were hacked, I don't want to store any private data in the database. Maybe I could organize some kind of authorization via deposits.

I am sorry to hear about that. Tronlet also had problems with captcha. I have no idea what's happening and how to reproduce the situation Sad

Maybe he signed them up and is gonna give to friends?  I don't see how signing up for that many would benefit himself otherwise

It's growing hyper-fast (but most people just waiting for random prize with 0 BTC deposed, I think)!

With that explanation I think it works well enough as it is. Smiley

How about something to encourage deposits? Maybe a limit on random payments where the user gets to keep the amount equal to his deposit plus 50%, and the remainder is paid to the sponsor.

When somebody deposits any amount, the following algorithm works:
1) 50% goes to sponsor
2) random member is being chosen (each member's chances to be chosen depend on his/her deposits)
3) min(remainder, sum deposited by random member) goes to the selected random member
4) if remainder > 0, goto 2.

I think 2) and 3) should be encouraging enough. Maybe need to document it better. What do you think?
