Hello guys! As usual my habit is to check this website https://coinmarketcap.com/ for crypto market price. I saw that bitcoin still dominate in the market.

Take a look in this picture.

The Bitcoin Dominance recorded is still at 52.3%

This is why Bitcoin is the most expensive crypto in the market. But, there is one thing also that struck me and that is the growing number of crypto in the market.

It was recorded at 2093 cryptocurrencies being listed in coinmarketcap and does not include some crypto that are not listed on coinmarketcap for now. So many cryptocurrency to choose from so brace yourself on what crypto will you should consider to contribute or invest.

Bitcoin vs. Altcoins

I get this graph from coinhills (https://www.coinhills.com/statistics/volume-bitcoin-altcoin/) that shows the trend chart of Bitcoin volume strength versus Altcoins. A great number of altcoins combine will soon going to surpass bitcoin and remove its dominant in the market and probably few crypto will dominate in the altcoins group in the near future.

The question is that: Is there any possibility that dominant altcoins will take over bitcoin in the ranking in the future?
well in crypto world anything could happening. Bitcoin use seems got replaced by stable coins. You can see the volume of trading in several big exchange, people are prefer to do trading with usdt pairing rather than bitcoin. I believe someday bitcoin will lose number one position in future but i believe it will takes a lot of time cause in my opinion btc still stronger and etf could make it more stronger.

Many people says that altcoins may surpassed and replace bitcoin in the future? But where are those altcoins now? they are all gone.

Pictures shows it is possible but i think it will be good for only 2-3 years. People choose to invest in bitcoin because of aside from being famous the stability of the cryptocurrency itself.

People can make their own predictions in regards with the future of crypto currency but based on what we see till today, I think it won't happen very soon. Bitcoin is still the best crypto currency. None will be able to surpass it.

Even though there are a lot of ALTs nowadays, I don't think they have potential to replace BTC. BTC is the strongest and the best coin in crypto world. Not any altcoin has strength over bitcoin. as we already knew, Bitcoin is very famous world wide, I still have a confidence on the development of bitcoin.

I think I would have to disagree wherein I believe this will not happen for now and in the coming years to come as btc is the major cryptocurrency that really evolves in the market. This is why many people are supporting and investing btc since this is the only existing currency that could guarantee good return of investment. The profit that is gained from the btc investors is great and not comparable with the altcoins. BTC market is usually the baseline of any market trends either be it uptrend or down trend market.

altcoin will replace bitcoin in the future it is not yet visible from now on because right now bitcoin dominates the market and also bitcoin has good price developments and big enthusiasts. maybe there are only a few altcoin coins that can compete with bitcoin but haven't been able to replace it.

Maybe yes maybe no.
Yes because bitcoin has limited supply and it already hardforked many times, so i think one of it's "child" will be the next btc.
It could be no because bitcoin is already too famous and people won't invest anything besides it.

bitcoin won't be as easy as it can be replaced by any coin, now even though altcoin has a lot of types and prices vary but I think bitcoin will still continue to be the best coin in crypto. but altcoin can compete with bitcoin if altcoin can provide good development.

There have been numerous times where bitcoin has lost momentum yet no altcoin has been able to replace it, why? Because no matter how small the btc dominance is (which is just a silly number), alts won't be able to replace the most accepted and most used cryptocurrency in the world. So, what makes you think that this is gonna change in the future when adoption grows worlwide? Once the adoptions phase kicks in, it'll be very hard for the rest of the market to keep up with the increasing interest around bitcoin.
I agree. Why in the world would anyone in their right mind believe in something like this happening in the future? This is quite silly in my opinion. Bitcoin is the leader and will always be the leader no matter what happens.

Bitcoin has gone through ups and downs, but has always retained its top position in the cryptocurrency market no matter what and the gap between it and the remaining altcoins is quite big which is not going to be filled no matter what.

I think Bitcoin Dominance might go down a little bit in the future but I also believe Bitcoin will always be the store of value for generations to come because it was what made blockchain technology what it is today. We may see the dominance in a boom period go to around 35-405 as alts get pumped up for huge growth cycles, but in a bearish market I believe Bitcoin will always have the most prevalent dominance, technologically wise though, Bitcoin will be surpassed by other tech and blockchains.

I never for one moment thought that Bitcoin will always be the most dominant coin on the market, but it will surely not be dethroned by the Alt coins that are there at the moment. The coin will have to be faster, more efficient, more secure than Bitcoin and that is not going to happen soon.

The Bitcoin developers are not sitting back and waiting for another coin to dethrone it, they are constantly adding new changes, like side-chains , to improve it.  Grin

Get Maximalist or Get Wrecked
Getting into bitcoin, thinking an altcoin will one day be more valuable, then wasting your bitcoin on altcoins that die and THEN hodling mostly bitcoin --- is the bitcoin life cycle.

You never value bitcoin more than after you've lost some "investing" in shitcoins.

Bitcoin still well known among crypto users, for now still no coin able to compete with Bitcoin, from the transaction volume until the popularity, and Bitcoin already being used in some stores, if the altcoin could grow better than Bitcoin then maybe it could replace Bitcoin in the future

Yes, Bitcoin is the representation of cryptocurrencies to the world and it is like a Brand or household name. For that reason and also because its investors will not leave Bitcoin, it will remain the most dominant coin for a long time to come. But I would not be surprised if we see other coins having more transaction volume than BTC or other coins having more adoption as a payment currency for goods and services, not to say that already at this time other projects have a lot more features (like smart contracts, dapps).

I am not so sure if there are altcoins that will replace Bitcoin in the future because many people use altcoin as a goal to collect bitcoin.
The interest in bitcoin is very high compared to altcoin, it is impossible if there is a market volume that dominates other than bitcoin.
For example, such as Ethereum, which is now starting to be quiet, but we know that Ethereum was initially predicted to rival the dominance of bitcoin.

there was a time when BTC dominance was merely 30%, and still it was by far the highest market cap cryptocurrency, BTC will never be replaced by alts, even if alts have better use than BTC

In my opinion we will return to the times where BTC will have let's say just 30% of the total market cap. But I also agree that Altcoins will not replace BTC, atleast not as the prime value storage. But as a transactional money Alts will maybe replace BTC.

I think that it will never going to happen in crypto currency history because the bitcoin is the king of all crypto currency and it will going to accepting over the world, the bitcoin have own great community they will always support bitcoin so there is no way any other alts coins replace bitcoin in crytpto market.

Is there any possibility that dominant altcoins will take over bitcoin in the ranking in the future?

Previously we had to understand that bitcoin and alts were different, they had a different focus on work. But there are some coins that are said to be substituted for bitcoin, namely litecoin. Although I did not find that litecoin is better than bitcoin because the main bitcoin network is higher than litecoin. While Doge coin is also assumed to be the most suitable coin as a payment tool than bitcoin but the fact is that bitcoin still dominates the cryptocurrency market.

ETH, EOS, XRP, NEM, they are different. Their main goal will not replace bitcoin, but it will serve as an alternative to crypto. in fact, they also accept bitcoin as the main transaction.
