I just wanted to get your opinions on this one , what do you think Bitcoin would be if there was no Alternative coins such Litecoin & Dogecoin and the others ...
I mean it would be better with or without them Bitcoin would have no value at all ?

Why would Bitcoin have no value at all when there are no altcoins around when in fact altcoins are the one who needs support from Bitcoin,Bitcoin can stand alone even if there are no altcoins around ,the fact is these altcoins around are only clone,if bitcoin is a close source we will never had a single altcoin running.

I agree bitcoin is not dependent on altcoin market.  So even without altcoin bitcoin will survive.  And besides bitcoin does not have only altcoin as its trading pair, actually bitcoin is also paired with other currencies like USD, Euro, Peso, etc.
Yep, bitcoin is independent currency. if bitcoin was alone in the crypto world, the price could be $900+(stable)? a lot of money has been invested in altcoins, imagine what would happen if all the money goes into bitcoin buying.

In my opinion obviously btc can survive without alts, however alts are something unevitable: the bitcoin and blockchain is a basically new thing.
People wanna use the same solution ( or modify it ) in other ways, so they make up new alts- that won't be changed,

I think bitcoin can stand without alltcoin, this would be interesting because bitcoin will always be compared to official currency like USD, Euro, Yen and other.
It can for sure, at least we have only one crypto currency and there's no competition with altcoins which most of them are shitcoins. People will fully trust bitcoin and they have no choice but to adopt fully due to lack of option. Possible outcome will increase the adoption rate and we will be more popular due to good promotion.
but I still think that it will affect the price of bitcoin. because altcoin whatever they developed, basically it will still rely on bitcoin, and it makes bitcoin bought or sold in large quantities. perhaps, bitcoin prices, will be reduced without altcoin, because in my opinion, altcoin also have an important role in increasing the price of bitcoin

No I don't agree. Bitcoin is good/bad compared with? only fiat money? We know fiat but bitcoin is crypto currency and need to compared with other crypto coins as well. Bitcoin has some weaknesses like that if privacy is an issue then another coin is better than this. Moreover if our concern is about network confirmations and bitcoin's 10 min interval where Litecoin and Dogecoin are 2,5 min and 1 min respectively.

Nahh, I think BTC could survive without altcoins, one thing doesn't fully need the another...

But it's good and helpful for traders and some gamblers make their profit.  Cheesy

It cant, if atls died btc would die because that would mean trust in crypto would have died.

Bitcoin can survive even without altcoin.  In my opinion bitcoin is not dependent on altcoin, it has its own base users and mostly, companies are only interested in bitcoin / bitcoin technology.  If altcoin ceased to exist, it will only affect the demand volume for a short time, and the market adjust as it progress.

When bitcoin is no longer able to mine again, bitcoin will become scarce. Altcoins will compete to break the deadlock with a goal, keep bitcoin still exist. Whatever altcoin efforts to shift bitcoin, it doesn't displace the bitcoin. They are only a small fraction are still making bitcoin as a measure of their value.

So the conclusion bitcoin without altcoin, cryptocurrency will be in the dark.

what you say about mining is not happening for a very long time and there are already solutions and possibilities like higher price and higher fees for that.
and also by that time there may even be something better than bitcoin finally invented. for now altcoins are not even having any effect on bitcoin ecosystem even miners switch from one coin to another to desperately try and mine them while they are hot and stop while they die.

I'm not sure it's a good deal to mine those coins... They don't have the same stability, popularity and "tradition" of Bitcoin, making this kind of investment very risk.

You can start mining it today, and after 1-2 months, the coin price downs half of it price. So, you lost a lot of time and energy mining it and had loss in the end. I think it can worth if it's done as an experiment. Don't put a lot of money on it, just use part of your money to invest in alt-coins and alt-coin's mining.

There is some altcoin that is worth mining, but you should very observant of the movement of the price.  I agree that coins somehow profitable in its 1 - 2 months of mining, so that is the best time to mine them and sell for profit.  You can always stop if the mining is not profitable anyway and point your hashing power to the new profitble altcoin.  All it takes i  keen observation of what is trending or not.

I find that all alt coins are crap. They eventually all die away after they go threw their cycle.
Bitcoin is the only one that seems to stay.

There are a few exception. They are Monero, ZCash or the Ethereum. They still have active development now.

Everything financially goes through a cycle otherwise it would always just be flat. Be happy that satoshi gave us the invention on which we are able to trade and ride the swings into the green. Before this making money was hard, now that crypto is in my life its become much easier.

Altcoin maybe crap in your eyes but you cannot deny the fact that altcoins help promotes bitcoin in every corner of the world.  I can never learned of bitcoin if it was not for Dogecoins, and other member of this forum have the same experience like me.  Another example of this is Pesobit that gives awareness about the existence of bitcoin  to the OFW since PSB is promoted together with bitcoins.

I think even without mentioning to people what bitcoin is, simply promoting a cryptocurrency will lead to them finding out what bitcoin is and becoming interested to it. I think of the altcoins as a train that you can ride and those people that went in first can get their profit quickly while those people that have been riding the train for a long time will get a lot of profit. But the best ones do not wait for a long time but only wait for the best time to get out of the train. The train is also doomed to crash any time, by the way. So the guy was right, this is basically the cycle of an altcoin's life.

On the other hand, I really do think that riding that train and taking the risk that it can crash without any warnings is much better than just standing in the train station while judging or complaining how the train crash eventually.

TL;DR: Better to invest in an altcoin and take the risk than do nothing. Investing in altcoin is like riding a train that can crash anytime so you better get out of it when you think the time is right. In other words, sell your altcoin when you think the price is high enough.

I think we need altcoins for the sake of "diversity". Imagine there are no altcoins to invest to instead of bitcoin.
You will know the feeling if you are an investor.

Just for diversity ? I invest in some ICOs from time to time but the number of alts is just .... ridiculous. According to https://coinmarketcap.com/ , there are 600+ altcoins while only a few of them are known or exists for a "different" reason then the others , most of them are just forks from existing ones.

Id rather have 600 altcoins to trade then 600 fiat currencies.
At least with altcoins we can take out future by the horns and steer it where WE want, unlike with fiat currencies where the government steers it where they want, and where they want is never good for the little guys. aka you and me.
