m so excited for this, I didn't believe it at first, because the creator of Valve (Gave Newel) said that he didn't want Bitcoin on Steam not a long ago, so now if he has really changed his mind, you can expect millions coming to Steam in Bitcoin form because its way more convenient than messy credit card payments.

It's already in Steam for week maybe, a lot of videos on youtube about - "My first paymebt with bitcoin" or smth like this. So go to steam and try to get smth with bitcoin!

is there an advantage in using bitcoin for steam?
Not if you have a credit card.

For ex. are prices globally equal in bitcoin?
BTC exchange rate is calculated by averaging BTC price @ major exchanges, will be displayed @ check out. So I guess yeah.

even in that case. i give no data to steam (cc fraud) and it is easier and faster to pay in bitcoin. i know it because i do it  Wink

It is perfect that Steam is going to accept Bitcoin because you also see now that there will be more people that is using Bitcoin as their payment method and that is nice for Steam itself.
So you are making it both more popular so that is nice but the value have also to rise.

Not everyone has a mastercard, bitcoins are easier to get, but there are other options that are more convenient (like paysafe, because you can buy it everywhere), thats the thing all those bitcoin startups were supposed to do but didn't.

This is going to benefit them both, people that use Steam might get interested in Bitcoin and might even invest in to. It also goes for the other way around maybe Bitcoin users go over to Steam and buy a couple of games.

Its officially on now, thats a big step forward for Bitcoin when a big company start accepting it. If more big other companies will implement it too, plus the halving taking place the price should be on the rise (it is already, near 500 USD per bitcoin now). Good days are coming for the Bitcoin users and more beautiful days for the holders.

I have learn that most of the thing about bitcoins are rumor, so everyone should becareful about any sites. but in my view, it will be true, because now halving is coming so most of the people like to use halving, so you can say that bitcoin in steam.....

Deposit funds? So we will have to send some BTC first to our Steam account and then pay the games with that?
Yes. Correct.
So isn't it going to be prone to the price volatility of Bitcoin because we still value the game price with fiat? or the amount of bitcoin we deposited will be changed to fiat amount at the time of the transaction? please enlighten me...

By the way, i see no bitcoin option as a mode of payment. It seems that it is only available in US and Europe.

Whatever the currency you deposit, it will automatically convert to your local currency and the amount will remain as the exchange rate at the time of that deposit.

Example: You deposited 1BTC in steam when the value of 463.4USD. Your account will be updated as 463.4USD (if you are from US. If not, it will be converted to your local currency)
Even if the BTC price rises or drops, your account balance will still remain as 436.4USD.

Maybe just purchase a game directly with BTC, but never think of depositing with BTC. You'll end up crying like a baby if the BTC price rises to sky again.

BTW, I don't think that screenshot is from US steam account. Language looks different.

It won't be affected by volatility because it will be instantly converted. IIRC Valve has stated that they would not be holding Bitcoins at any time.
