Well well well well well, now that's some big news.

If this actually happens it might skyrocket bitcoin prices. There is a huge amount of betting and trading going on there.

Actually it's not a speculation Valve wants to run a beta test within the US Steam shop and then they will expand the feature to other parts of the world. As I am not a US citizen I can't participate but I have seen screenshots of people being able to buy games directly from Steam with Bitcoin.

It's funny to see that some people think that Steam has already started or will get started to accept Bitcoin soon.

It's nothing more than speculation at this point. Don't count your profits too early guys.

I'm not believing anything of this untill I see that Steam is actually accepting Bitcoin as payment tool.

You are partly right but I think it will soon or later, most likely it will in a couple months, I also saw something about it on the steam forums.
I just think there is a good chance it will because its also early and fast with new payment methods.

This is going to be a good thing for Bitcoin to penetrate the gaming industry. They are doing the same thing that they have done with these gambling sites.
Steam is huge in the gaming community and with them making use of Bitcoin can attract more people to Bitcoin.

I hope steam will accept the bitcoin soon because I really love to pay with the bitcoin and its also very sweet and easy.
Most likely they will do this soon because the fact that steam is mostly very soon with accepting new currency's (payment methods..

Really awesome news from op,  we people will get more scope in future because of this steam.
Even I didn't thought these much of active users from bitcoin community.

This is a great news i played dota2 and i would like to buy stuff there but i dont have credit card if steam adapt bitcoin then i can buy clothes for my favorite character.

Yeah same here, i also dota 2 player. If steam accepted bitcoin soon, it will be a big news to me. So i don't need to buy steam wallet with my credit card. Using bitcoin is more easily to do that.
That is indeed good nice, than there will be also more people that is going to use Bitcoin because they want to pay with Bitcoin later in steam and that can be nice and great.
So they both will be also more used and that is nice, many people wants to pay in steam with Bitcoin.

Good news that one of the biggest gaming company/software in the industry is going to accept Bitcoin. It has been two months and I really hope that they are still considering to accept Bitcoin. However, I do not expect much use of it since Bitcoiners can already buy almost all popular Steam game at third part stores such as Key4Co.in and IndieGala. To add on, third party stores give more discount often.

Well, this feature will only make life easier for these who want to play games that are not in third party stores or don't trust third party stores at all.

Are people going to buy btc just to spend on Steam?... What's the chances of Steam holding coins?
I get the extra exposure... Just not the price increase if it's a quick cash out from Steam.

If Bitcoin comes to Steam in Europe this will probably be the death of me because I am already buying too many games I don't even play with cash on Steam now imagine the shopping spree I would go on if Bitcoin is involved. I have a backlog of games I need to play and no time at all. Gaben hits all the right bases with the constant discounts and holiday deals that sleazy bastard  Grin

If Steam accepted bitcoin and started advertising it on their main store page, I can say without a doubt that bitcoin will shoot up. Steam has a huge userbase of cybee-geared users, which will also be great.
