I think that any new coins now need to have a unique function, and I'm not sure what that could be for a BT coin.
I think all the coins on the market, including bitcoin, can satisfy a lot of unique functions and needs at this point.  The way I see it is that there are way, way too many altcoins in existence and most of them are never going to be used for what they were originally promoted for.  I see this happening in the ICO market constantly--if the new coin isn't an outright scam, it's not going to ever get adopted by, and certainly won't revolutionize [insert industry here].

So no, I don't think bitcointalk needs its own special coin like Reddit supporters thought they needed a special coin like RDD.  That one turned out to be one hell of a smelly skunk and lost a lot of people a lot of money, I'm sure.  The gambling industry doesn't need coins like RBIES (or whatever the hell that coin was named) to function any better than it can with bitcoin, and bitcointalk won't be made any better with its own shitcoin.  This is bitcointalk, and we don't need it to turn into bitcoincointalk.

can it have hookers and blackjack?

I think Bitcointalk forum has already owned coin, and that is Bitcoin. Because when Satoshi founded Bitcoin this forum also was made by Satoshi that talks related Bitcoin and other cryptos. (IMO)
Probably that is very interesting if ever happen but make it sure that coin is must supported with Bitcoin, not on ERC20, most likely ICO now base on ERC20.
You say my thought. The coin of Bitcointalk is Bitcoin, Satoshi created this forum for Bitcoin discussion, i was not here in the first days but i think at that days they only talked about Bitcoin here, altcoins added later. Because at first there was only one cryptocurrency, it's Bitcoin.

Never clicked any of the links, as I thought that his account was compromised.

I have seen that announcement pretty late. The ICO should have ended, but the timer was (is!) still running.
It writes "invest until June 15 for 25% discount", it's almost December and the button is active.
Just click the Buy now button. No virus, nothing compromised. It's actually a great initiative to promote "read before you buy" and "if it's too good to be true, probably is a scam".
For the lazy ones, it goes to this website at the end, website that I think it's owned by SEC.

Bitcoin talk forum is just a forum that discus about bitcoin and cryptocurrency related topics although there also another discussion on the forum.

Like the name bitcointalk implies it have a strong affinity with bitcoin and bitcoin on the other hand is a coin(the most valuable coin) even satoshi the creator of bitcoin is also the founder of the forum

Good news is BitcoinTalkCoinTalk.org is available!

The bad news is that Bitcointalkcoin(.)org is taken and the com was also registered for a brief period.
Was there some ICO with that domain involved?  Angry

I guess I don't see much of a problem with adding just 1more shitcoin to pile.

So....you think that all the bright minds here on this forum wouldn't be capable of creating anything else than a shitcoin?  Cheesy

No, not at all. Some of the bright minds here are busy building up a legit project...
Though it seems a vast amount of the bright minds tend to occupy themselves making shit-coins.

I'm not saying you won't find a Vitalick butterin to head the BitcoinTalkcoinTalk token development team

I wish you luck  Wink

I've heard rumors that people who have recently been banned for plagiarism are planning to fork Bitcoin and get their own chain called:

Carry a Signature SV (SV stands for 'shitposting violator')

users should
spam.

Satoshi's Vision!
I think the first person to use this argument to have their ban lifted should automatically get unbanned.

I think this actually would be a good idea, perhaps for things like captcha bypasses, and the ability to rank up and/or the ability to wear (better) signatures. The purpose of using it instead of using Bitcoin would be so that micropayments can be used without bloating the blockchain.

Bitcointalk launching it's own coin would be stupid.  This site is here to promote Bitcoin!  You wouldn't even be able to discuss the "bitcointalkcoin" on a majority of the forum if it were it's own coin.  That being said, the possibility of launching a token on the Liquid network would be more in line with promoting Bitcoin.  However, it would be a bit pointless, except maybe to create a pump and dump that would enrich a few members who time it correctly.

I agree that bitcointalk launching a coin Would be stupid.

However, it's possible to launch a coin that supports BTC.

For example, Omni allow coins to be created over  the Bitcoin blockchain. That's a way to support Bitcoin. You don't need to create erc20 or any other blockchain

I shall continue hodling my eth and ltc. tbf, ltc might as well be any of the other altcoins.

At least eth added something to the blockchain with smart contracts.

LTC has an infinite amount that can be credited to users who mine doesn't it? I mean it'll still halve but it can go down to 1 litoshi as far as I am aware. It also uses the scrypt algorithm like dogecoin (just makes it harder to mine with an asic for bitcoin)...

And ltc and eth follow the same sort of pattern so I don't think there's much point in hodling it unless it's part of a bigger strategy.

EVERY altcoin behaves in that way.
Tether got pumped-dumped. I can imagine something going wrong with that new "stablecoin" and that getting pumped dumped for no reason too...

I guess XMR would add some more value with private ledger shit, but fuck that noise; aint nobody want a private ledger for legit purposes.

Yall remember namecoin? That shit was pretty awesome with whole new tld, shame ICANN never recognized their authority. I'm willing to bet cloudflare would with their 1.1.1.1 service.

Bitcointalk already have an existing coin which is the bitcoin it self, if you have not taken the time to read the brain behind bitcointalk forum well according to the information the forum was created by Santoshi Nakamoto him self and about the same time or period with the creation of bitcoin. Asking bitcointalk to created another coin of it own has no relevance instead we as a community will keep developing on the existing foundation which is bitcoin.

Isn't howeycoins our bitcointalk coin by public demand we got our bitcointlak coin?

But, in all seriousness, the name of bitcointalkcoin is a bit rediculous. And since bitcointak was made by satoshi, we do have our own coin, it's called bitcoin and it's the best coin out there.

Way to describe literally every single shitcoin ever.

Good news is BitcoinTalkCoinTalk.org is available!

Also, bitcointalkcointalkcointalk.org is available.

I wonder how meta we can go. 63 characters. 3 characters for "bit", so 60 left for "cointalk"

I guess only like 7 layers, unless we start using subdomains, which could be an option.

bitcointalkcointalkcointalkcointalkcointalkcointalkcointalk.cointalkcointalkcoi ntalkcointalkcointalkcointalkcointalkcointalk.cointalkcointalkcointalkcointalkc ointalkcointalkcointalk.cointalkcointalkcointalkcointalkcointalkcointalkcointal k.org ?

C'mon guys and girls, you don't know that BitcoinTalk already has a coin? There's an ICO too. theymos himself has posted [ANN][ICO]HoweyCoins: the only BitcoinTalk-endorsed ICO - GUARANTEED PROFIT
...
Wow Smiley what an idea, and it's 63 pages now and still counting Cheesy
I was just about to post a 'Good project' into that topic but I was afraid that someone would report me because of low quality posting Smiley
unbelievable that people can write but they can't read (or they just don't like to read Cheesy )

I was surprised too but for Good project some users got merit in the very beginning i don't think you gonna get in trouble for hype-ing it.I actually thought that theymos' account was hacked and I open a thread in meta, but I got confirmation from themos_away that it was a "real deal" only for to give a lesson to the newbies.

Never clicked any of the links, as I thought that his account was compromised.

Merit coin?
Spammers could buy merit coins so they could rank up while shitposting. Lol

Bitcointalk doesn't need a coin. It's a forum to discuss a technology

But they are already buying it. Well it's another thing that we catch them and they get banned or get painted in red but they still do it. So merit has most of the characteristics of the other tokens/coins and it's much more successful than 99% of the shitcoins listed in the Ann section every day.
So theymos when merit on exchanges??? When moon?? I'm so successful, I'll buy me a lamboo... /jk
