Lets suppose we get a message from Satoshi account on this event. Will you believe it is the real satoshi ?
It can be a Newbie, all it takes is a signed message from the right address and I'm a believer!

Although I'm only a bit more than 5 years old in this forum, I'm also curious about the 10 years anniversary.

I don't believe that Satoshi will ever come back to this forum.
His mission is already completed, any way.

While I agree that his "mission" is "complete", Bitcoin was one of the experiences that taught me to never say never (!).

It seems that 10 years anniversary will be even better thanks to theymos.
I'm just sorry that I'm not graphic designer  Cheesy Cheesy
Regarding Satoshi, obviously he decided to choose anonymity and withdraw from this forum but maybe there is some small possibility that he will come back here one day.
Maybe this tenth anniversary inspires him Smiley
I just wish I could ask him a question and I believe so many others!

Unfortunately satoshi will not come back regardless of it is 10th anniversary or 20 anniversary.  Lets suppose we get a message from Satoshi account on this event. Will you believe it is the real satoshi ?

Yeah, I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.  But man, wouldn't it be something if he did come back for the 10th anniversary?  That would be the biggest story in bitcoin's history thus far.

I really wish that project would move forward, because I would love to own something like that regardless if it was free or not.  I would gladly buy one.  The forum, for better or worse, is important to me and I spend an inordinate amount of time here--I don't read the crypto news media sites, so this is where I get all of my information on new developments in crypto.  There's no other forum that I've been an active member of for almost 5 years.

If you want a coin made, you have to work on it yourself. If you ask me for specific help, I may be able to, but don't expect me to be working on it in the background: I'm absolutely not.
That's good to know.  There was quite a bit of enthusiasm about it, so I do hope the talented members of the Collectibles section put something together.  I wish I was creative enough to pitch in to help, but I'm not.

There is a possibility that theymos is using the art contest to get more ideas as to what the coin should look like and who ever wins the contest can get

No, I don't have any secret plans related to this. The art contest is just for fun. If you want a coin made, you have to work on it yourself. If you ask me for specific help, I may be able to, but don't expect me to be working on it in the background: I'm absolutely not.

I have exactly 3 plans for the 10th anniversary:
 - The art contest.
 - Another thing which I will make public on Tuesday, probably. It's a temporary forum feature similar to past april fools things in some ways, though not a prank.
 - I'll write some thoughts/reflections.

Is there any update? What about Bitcointalk.org collectible coin ?.
No plans yet. I consider the forum's 10th birthday to be Nov 22, 2019, so it's a ways away.

If there are no plans, I hope there are some ideas to encourage old members to return to the forum. (If you know a way to communicate with Satoshi, don't hesitate to invite him  Grin Grin .)
I believe that satoshi is still in this forum and he always watiching this forum with another accounts or without any account. And laughing mainly when people are talking about him.😋😋

a customized coin a bonus to the prize. I'm sure in a months time before the contest ends there will be promising arts that perfectly capture bitcointalk.
but all of these is just my speculation, I have no idea what he's thinking.

Looks like that there will be no ads for at least a month. What will be then? I guess it will be nice surprise.
I've read that but if there's a surprise I don't think it will stop selling ads today, maybe it should wait until the 10th of next month.
Overall I was frustrated after reading 10th anniversary art contest, I  hope there will be a surprise or a better celebration.

Perhaps the idea of badges is a positive thing in addition to some gifts for the old members who continue to publish until now.

I don't know but it can be some kind of announsment for something or maybe factoids with some of the most remarkable posts of shatoshi which will replace the ads. I can thinkg of 1000 diffrerent things, like the Physical coin suggestion , advertising Epochtalk (jk), etc...
We have to wait and see.

Maybe theyos is cooking something, just saw this comment regarding the ads:
Note that after this round, there will be a period of about 30 days where ads will not be sold.

To be clear: winners of this round will not have their ads run for 30 days. They'll run for the usual time. Ads just won't be sold at all for a ~30-day period; in other words, this is the last auction for a while where ads will be sold.

Looks like that there will be no ads for at least a month. What will be then? I guess it will be nice surprise.

I'm really glad to be part of this community before it reaches 10 years. It's rare to see a community that reached 10 years, usually, they ended up closing after they run out of funds to support the site or the site will stop their operation if most of the members are not online anymore. In the case of Bitcointalk, it's contrary. after 10 years the site has maintained the title Top 1 Bitcoin community on the internet and also it never run out of funds. everyday for the straight 10 years, new accounts are created. I made a piece of news about this anniversary in our local so that they will mark the date when it comes. I have a feeling that something big will happen, I hope so.

(And I hope that medicine will make significant progress in the coming years. Smiley)

That would not help at all, since such secrets are usually revealed after the persons tied to them are long gone and maybe one extra generation is also gone.
So a progress in medicine will simply make the wait longer (for those who do wait for this).

What might make a good surprise for the forum community is to finally unveil these long-awaited emails/PM from Satoshi that Theymos said will only be made public in several years  Smiley

Sorry LeGaulois to break your dreams, but I think it will take a few more decades to know all Satoshi's secrets :

I've rethought this, and I won't be releasing the PMs in 2021. I'm convinced that nobody will ever identify Satoshi no matter what info comes out, so I'm not worried about that, but I am concerned about the privacy of those who communicated with him. For example, kiba once said that he tried to send a gift to Satoshi, but Satoshi declined (reportedly saying something like "I already have plenty of BTC"). If the PMs for this exchange exist in the database and hypothetically look like this:
Quote
kiba: Hey, I know it's worth peanuts, but do you want a gift of 10k BTC?
satoshi: lol, no thanks scrub

Then it would put a big target on kiba's back. (This is only a hypothetical example: in reality, kiba never published the amount he offered Satoshi, if any amount was even specified.) Even if I screened the PMs in advance for obvious stuff like this, it's impossible to find everything. Eg. maybe someone who talked to Satoshi was trying to be anonymous, but people are able to find him just based on his writing style or knowledge.

I do think that there could be historically-relevant info in there, so maybe if Bitcoin has taken over the world in like 50 years and historians are clamoring to know more about its history, I or my successors could be convinced to revisit the issue. Or maybe not; don't get your hopes up. (I still haven't read the PMs, BTW; maybe they're all really boring.)

(And I hope that medicine will make significant progress in the coming years. Smiley)

I'll probably release Satoshi's PMs and logged IPs addresses in ~8 years. This'd probably be of great historical interest. (Though he always used Tor, as far as I can tell.)

I like the collectible coin idea but I can wait for this, I can't for the emails. Come on Theymos! 2013 + 8 years = 2019 Grin

And to post the hidden comments from Satoshi,  I'm sure there are some.

I'm kinda expecting theymos to quietly just make it, just like all other recent forum changes were only revealed when they were ready.
I'm really hoping that this is one of the announcements which gets input from the community. Despite has having that thread where he announced the possibility of these coins being made I'd also like to involve the community as much as possible. If this is a coin which is meant for certain users within the community it would be better to be designed by the community. Of course, if this has been a surprise then the design process would have already been done. Assuming it hasn't any effort to make the coins before the 10th anniversary will likely be impossible, but I might come up with a thread which will hopefully get this project started if it hasn't already. Even if that means receiving the coins after the 10th anniversary.

I hope the Bitcointalk coins do get made eventually even if its not for the 10th anniversary although that would be incredibly fitting.

I imagine the criteria for most of them would be still active users though.
I expect it to be based on Activity, Merit,  Politeness, fMerit, Imagination, Virtue, Coins, Karma and several other criteria with some complex math behind it Cheesy

I hope the Bitcointalk coins do get made eventually even if its not for the 10th anniversary although that would be incredibly fitting. Rewarding users who have been a vital part of Bitcointalk, and perhaps customizing them slightly for each user if that wouldn't make prices per unit skyrocket. I'm thinking 50-100 coins would allow for some sort of customization in batches.

I don't believe that Satoshi will ever come back to this forum.

Regarding old members, I guess they are now dedicated to other projects and have probably lost interest in the events of this forum.
I don't think admins on the forum have any plan to encourage old members to return to the forum.
Well, considering theymos posted about a sort of collectible coin for users who meet some sort of criteria I would say that it's likely that these will be older users rather than new. I imagine the criteria for most of them would be still active users though. Even if Satoshi is pretty much guaranteed to not return it seems weird to me not to create a coin for the founder of the forum.
