It's nice joke but better not be a joke not because of the rank but because it's quite flirting to see my own score.
Well to be honest i kinda believe that joke though , i really thought that it's true but then again after a while reading and reading some comment too , i think it's just a sarcasm post or rather a april fools joke. It's to believe but nice joke theymos , someday i will put a prank too, i hope i get some merit like yours but then again nice joke.
This is an april fools joke.
While merit improved things a lot, clearly more adjustments were necessary. Therefore, some new rank requirements have been added in addition to the old requirements.
The new rank components are:
Activity & Merit
As before.
Politeness
How polite you have been in your posts, using language such as "please" and "sir". Politeness is after all the cornerstone of any good community.
fMerit
An obvious extension on top of Merit, sMerit, and source merit. It is calculated using this simple formula:
Imagination
Bitcoin would not even exist without Satoshi's impressive imagination, so I've decided to take this into account on the forum. Imaginative people are those who have posted many images.
Virtue
This is an upright, God-fearing community which will suffer no witchcraft or other heresy. This stat measures your moral virtue. Warning: those with low virtue may be visited by the holy inquisition.
Coins
How many different coins you have invested in. A good Bitcointalker will maintain a reasonable balance between conservative (100% yearly return) and aggressive (7% weekly return) tokens/coins.
Karma
This is how many non-scammer trust ratings you have both sent and received. Due to our strict moderation of the trust system, this is sure to be a highly reliable measure of your reliability vis-à-vis the trust system.
Previously a lot of people were posting questions about the ranking system, so I decided to simplify it. Just put the highest-order 10 bits of each number into a grid in this configuration:
Then run Conway's Game of Life on the cells. If the cells never stop moving even after infinite steps, then you advance to the next rank.
For example, consider someone with these stats:
This never ends, so the person will advance in rank.
Rank adjustments happen every week on Tuesday, and you can only go up 1 rank per week.
Hopefully this easy-to-understand, graphical ranking system will put to rest many users' questions and concerns once and for all.

You seem to be getting distracted, ruthbabe, and trying to find biased from already ranked up members, when it is not centrally relevant to the current situation because higher ranking members did not create the new merit system even though they retain their grandfathered rank.
I think that if LFC_Bitcoin is correct that if your primary reason to come to the forum is for income, then likely your motivations are ones that are being fought against with the implementation of this new merit system.
If you feel that ranking up is important to why you are here, then you are correct that it is going to be much more difficult to rank up under the new system as compared to the old system.... And there are strategies that you can likely develop, especially if you value ranking up.
Since this is an April fools thread, we are likely getting somewhat off topic to talk about ranking up strategizing ways to possibly earn merits, even though the April fools joke was exaggerating those kinds of concepts and possibly playing on the dynamics of the merit system change, which has more negative emotional sentiments for some members as compared with other members.. and already having had established some rank does establish some differing ranking up dynamics that may be difficult for already ranked up members to relate or even to care about the plight of some of the members trying to rank up, especially if the members trying to rank up seem to be excessively whining about it or even blaming older (higher ranked) members.

It's that I don't come here often, especially meta, so I was not aware at the time that this was all an April fools. Technically if I was smarter I would have been able to think that the new new merit system just did not make any sense.

Yeah I find it difficult too, will probably be years before I rank up again haha. Oh well, made it this far at least.
There are very few local merit resources.. I got a total of 9 merits. I did the calculation, over the next 5 years, my rank will be changed

Reminds me of a little recent personal situation that sometimes we can run into issues, when we skim, and we do not read carefully.
I'm thinking the same thing--people here don't read anything, but it's not just a matter of skimming and not reading thoroughly (which I'm guilty of ever since I got a smartphone). People don't read on bitcointalk, because they're not paid to do so and most of them don't have a genuine interest in bitcoin anyway.This guy's attention was obviously piqued by the mention of merit, which I'm sure he's well aware of, as it's the only thing standing in his way of ranking up and thereby earning more from whatever bounty he's going to participate in. I would bet money on the fact that he wouldn't normally care about what's posted in Meta, which is a section that was usually devoid of spammers before merits were introduced.

Reminds me of a little recent personal situation that sometimes we can run into issues, when we skim, and we do not read carefully. Recently someone contacted me by text for the purpose to buy bitcoins, and I misread the text and I considered it as a kind of scammer because of how I misread the parameters, so I provided a bit of a quip response that was meant to shut down the discussion. Then the person sent me another text saying "but I am cute" which caused me to respond again but then I noticed my earlier mistake...
Anyhow, the conversation ended up going on a bit longer than I wanted, in part due to my mistaken read, and the person still ended up being a likely scammer, but for reasons that were different than I had originally mistakenly considered. My point is that there can be some value in attempting to practice reading comprehensive, and the OP and title of any thread are decent starting points for forum participation.

That's true, its now hard to rank up right now because of merit even if we post constructive post as we can, and even if we already do everything just for us to have merited. The last time I saw a lot of status with our accounts is just an April fool. It happens exactly April 1, if I am not mistaken. Most of the members who have merits to give are old members and thus we can assume that most of them were aware of this. It was not hard to grasps that this is a joke only. Some people had doubts because it involved changing the codes and also it followed the merit system which made it look real.
Even if some people gave it thinking that the change is implemented, what is wrong with that ? It is good if the merit system is improved further to fix loopholes.
