They have become like other exchanges now. Since other exchanges have become picky, it means bitfinex could have been attracting some more of the 'riskier' and riskier types, enough to cause them trouble, I think.

Unfortunately, I must inform you that Bitfinex is no longer in a position to do business with you. This should not be taken as a reflection of any particular business that you may undertake or your fitness to do business with any other digital token platform or, indeed, any other counter-party. Regrettably, furthering this business relationship is not consistent with our terms of service and outside of Bitfinex's risk appetite at this time.

Accordingly, please remove all property that you have on the platform in the form of Bitcoin (BTC), if any, within 3 Days. In 3 days, Bitfinex will permanently suspend your trading and withdrawal privileges. The current restrictions on your account are being manually removed in order for you to meet this request, so please allow up to 24 hours for those restrictions to be disabled before expecting your withdrawal request to be processed.

bitfinex is disappointing on many levels but at the end of the day, they at least usually prove to be honorable. i'm glad to hear you're getting your money back.

you certainly aren't the first to get your account closed like this. they've been ramping up account terminations for the past year or two---as have many other exchanges. something about the "risk-based approach" to AML/CFT required by various laws where they operate. http://www.fatf-gafi.org/media/fatf/documents/reports/Risk-Based-Approach-Banking-Sector.pdf

End of story 3 months later:
Please note that you received the following separate email on November 6, 2019 and you now will be given 48 hours to comply:

I am writing to you on behalf of Bitfinex.

Bitfinex is constantly improving and adjusting its customer acceptance and related compliance policies, in order to ensure that it is operating within its risk appetite. As policies change, Bitfinex must decline new verification requests and terminate existing customer relationships from time to time.

Unfortunately, I must inform you that Bitfinex is no longer in a position to do business with you. This should not be taken as a reflection of any particular business that you may undertake or your fitness to do business with any other digital token platform or, indeed, any other counter-party. 30 Ethereum is a lot, that's more than $ 5,000
but according to some reviews Bitfinex is a good exchange, a few months ago bitfinex also experienced problems : https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitfinex-allegedly-covers-850-million-loss-with-tether-funds
I hope your problem is quickly resolved
Quckly resolved?
))).I do not think so..already 2 months..And how many more to come. I found a topic where a person blocked 500 btc! And it's been more than 5 months...I'm already silent for my 30 eth

Ah damn man, that sucks. Sometimes exchanges will only freeze your account for a certain crypto-currency if they are careless, I was hoping the same happened with you.

If you are just getting ignored from their official email, I think the shitty conclusion you have drawn from this situation is likely true...

Try to threaten legal action. That might end up accomplishing something.
No, I do not ignore their mail, I write to them, there is no answer.  And the threat of court, but it is funny if they don't respect the US government I was a simple guy with a 30 eth - they don't care.

Firstly try swap to BTC and withdraw, they might have messed up there.
No,  withdrawal of any crypto is closed. I wrote them again, there is no answer.

^^^ are these the same questions that were on the KYC questionnaire? have they confirmed via the help desk that all questions were answered adequately?
Yes, the last letter they wrote that I was successfully verified.(well, still, I have a month of time spent on verification). More than anything they do not write, I wrote in support, wrote just to their email address-there are no answers.

As long as there is no assurance that this platform is SCAM, you can only communicate with the support team and provide all the data requested from you.
There is a situation similar to yours[1] and it seems that the problem was resolved after about two weeks.
All you have to do is connect with the support team again and bumping it on all platforms (Reddit: /Bitcoin, /bitfinex, @garbis_bitfinex/ https://www.bitfinex.com/media.)

You should check your deposit, withdrawal and unusual activity logs because you may need more verification than the files you submitted.

I had still not received a response from Bitfinex

This is quite confusing to be honest. So, basically you where asked for verification details, provided that, and then they sent you an email that you didn't respond even you did, and now your account is frozen?

Firstly try swap to BTC and withdraw, they might have messed up there.

Why if I have a successful KYC withdraw closed? Of course, I'll be glad if everything is as you write, but how much we still have to wait?I have 2 months I can not remove the eth. Or after receiving the status verified, still wait?

^^^ are these the same questions that were on the KYC questionnaire? have they confirmed via the help desk that all questions were answered adequately?

have you opened a new ticket after the withdrawals were cancelled, and did they answer? it's possible your account is still internally flagged in error and they just need to manually intervene.
Yikes... Didn't know bitfinex where such a scummy company, it looks like they are following the footsteps of other shady exchanges and are trying to overcomplicate the situation so you won't get funds back.

Its unfortunate that you have to face this and there is absolutely nothing one can do about it. The annoying thing is that despite the fact that you have done everything they asked you, you are still at their mercy and that is the deficiency we have to face in crypto. Recently, I opened a bank account and there is need for address verification, the moment this was completed and I couldn't access my funds, a complain was met with apology and action that I was delighted with but not in crypto. Going to social media might have make things better but it seems there are enough evidences that would have influenced their decision to the better if they are serious about doing it. The way out is to wait it out by constantly reaching out to them until they answer you.

I was specifically referring to the case with the link you gave, not with yours. Now in your case specifically, check out my past reply as well as o48o's reply, and report back here in a few days if you still don't get any response from Bitfinex. We really think giving them bad publicity works. I sincerely wish you the best of luck.

Also by the way, try re-reading Bitfinex's replies. There might be a teeny-tiny chance that you missed something from their responses. Just maybe.

In that specific case, it was because of Bitfinex suddenly requiring users to submit KYC. Yes, sudden KYC is very unprofessional as hell, but it's more understandable than in OP's case(assuming he's telling the truth). It's not like you're forever locked out of your funds; you simply submit KYC to get them back. Sure, we all hate KYC, but it is to be expected when using exchanges. It's just mostly a matter of when.

To be honest while Bitfinex got shadier and shadier due to the ongoing Tether fiasco, I don't think they'd stoop as low as trying to scam 30 ETH.
Of course 30 eth this little for them, but for me this good money, so same I found similar subject here on forum:

and this fresh theme, truth a pity that not written than all ended.
But if there are many? And not all know that there is forums, and from 100,000 people-1,000 not respond or will silenced the make not 30 = 30,000 eth. That's the problem, small investors like me who have 5, 10.30 eth may already be tired of trying to pick up their Deposit.
I had to verify the account , I verified for a month. But the problem remained, after verification of the account, I also can not withdraw my eth. In total, I sent them 30 letters. From them received 15. Often my letters were ignored. For example, when they asked for a passport, I sent it, they wrote to me thank you for the passport and answer our couple of questions - I answered them and in response to me again came a letter that it is necessary to send a passport and answer their questions, I again answered and sent a passport.  Then I wrote that I need to upload documents to the site, I uploaded, etc. Again, right now with great difficulty I verified the account but the problem remains, withdraw is blocked. My test attempts to withdraw eth are cancelled. Undecided

May i suggest something. If this indeed is the case, and your id / other information is correct, just screenshot the email history, documents and every correspondence with them and remove any personal information from them. After that go public in here and twitter maybe even tag @Bitfinexed to your message for wider audience (he will probably retweet it). People will retweet that and since bitfinex doesn't want more negative pr, they most probably handle your case faster.

This. And while you're at it, post on r/cryptocurrency and r/bitfinex to get maximum publicity from the people. So if you're actually the one in the right side, there's a good chance your problem is going to be resolved a lot sooner.

To be honest while Bitfinex got shadier and shadier due to the ongoing Tether fiasco, I don't think they'd stoop as low as trying to scam 30 ETH.

Come to think of it, maybe don't tag @bitfinexed (yet). Bitfinex will most probably take it as a hostile action and you want to still to be friendly terms with them. Just make a post to scam accusations first with all the relevant information.
