Antpool is down for me too. Just after I wrote my last comment I looked stats in antpool and payment was done then. I hope it covered all that missing time.

And now it's online again.

I mine in antpool and payout is PPS. Last payment was 14:51 and now it's 16:22 (my local time). My miner is hashing steadily 4.5 TH and hasn't dropped to any backup pool. Stats also (in antpool) showed hash speed 0TH but now it is about right.Where does my hashpower go?

WTH is going on AntPool?  You are only showing less than half of my hashing power in your stats, although the machines show that they are fully mining.  Also you have not found a block in the past 30 blocks.  Is this just bad luck again or a real problem we need to know about?  It would be nice if there were a SYSOP at AntPool that would actually let us know what is going on.

Unfortunately, most pools have some sort of protection against this, such as PPLNS, that pays users less up front and encourages them to stay.
You make it sound like you earn less by jumping temporarily onto a PPLNS pool. This is also incorrect as you get paid less to start with but you keep getting paid after you leave the pool too, meaning it averages out to the same.

My apologies, you are absolutely right.  The way I made it sound was that PPLNS methods would not provide the same payout from pool to pool if blocks are found at a consistent rate, which is not true.  I have removed the offending language.

What I meant is, that by the nature of pool hopping, you generally mine on a pool for the bad luck times, then leave before the good luck times happen, resulting in more consistent bad luck rounds that your shares are counted towards.
You didn't discount your second anecdotal and false comment.

Oddly enough no one on the planet can predict block finding luck in advance ... and MOST importantly, historical luck has NO effect on future luck.

Pool hopping doesn't cause magic.

how often hop consider "pool hopping"? (a week, a month, or like myself about 6 months)

And, just so you know, pool hopping will get you the worst return of all, since you will more than likely miss the good days and only hit the bad ones, since you are only following high spurts at different pools.  Case in point, according to Hashnest, Antpool is at 36 blocks today with an hour and a half to go.  Very high luck today, just the way variance works.

Actually, it shouldn't make any difference unless there is some delay before you start getting paid.
Theoretically you are correct, but dropping one pool and picking up on another, in a perfect world, should result in the same payout.

Unfortunately, most pools have some sort of protection against this, such as PPLNS, that pays users less up front and encourages them to stay.

Pool hopping has been shown to cause lower payouts, because you are generally hitting each pool during their slow periods and leaving before the good luck periods happen.
Interesting that you should call out someone for saying something that is anecdotal when you've just gone and done the same thing twice in the one post ...

i dont believe in coinsidence, must be something affected poor payout of this pool.
most of my mining time point to this pool but after i looke back and review my payout its getting worse.
not just luck, but i dont know what...Huh

Well can you go ahead and show some math on why you believe that this isn't luck based?  Its all too easy for people to call out shenanigans, but when it comes to actually proving it math wise, people shut up pretty quickly because they have no idea what they are talking about.

If you are looking at a week to determine luck, then there is absolutely no way you will be remotely accurate.  It is too short of a period.

There is never a shortage of people to immediately start saying something is wrong the minute a small lull occurs, but they are more than happy to accept it as fact when the pool pays better than normal.  Just be happy the pool allows you to mine here or go find another pool.  No one needs to hear about, "what your opinion" is.

Ur right. Or maybe u r my angel. After i read ur opinion, im trying to mine others pool. Thanks.

I am sorry if you feel insulted, but the reality is, is that every other week someone starts calling Antpool "out" for being a scam or fudging the numbers because difficulty has a few days of bad luck.  They decide to talk shit instead of reading back a page or two to the last time that it happened and educating themselves on what luck actually means and how it works.
