How is AntPool fairing in the wake of all this news about this botched upgrade.  I have seen some strange
blocks reported by Blockchain.info and even seen AntPool mentioned unfavorably in an article as still running
old software.  Anyone know what AntPool's status and plans are for this?

Did anyone else notice that Antpool got block # 363894

https://blockchain.info/block/00000000000000000ce42ddb0d4033f6462d1070b6f3dc0078610605793f4965

but that its not recorded in their Stats/block history or payout - and its a valid block?

www.antpool.com/poolStats.htm
Using a certain pool is meter of trust. Do not count on pool stats or that blockchain will show you all blocks mined by pool. If in doubt just CHANGE POOL.

Thanks - yes get your drift - Blockchain is definitely missing blocks that Antpool report - and it seems Blockchain is reporting blocks that Antpool stats misses - cheers

The problem, though, is that if AntPool isn't reporting finding a block, then you as a miner aren't getting paid for it.  The info on who mined a block by blockchain.info is based on a few things like the BTC address of the generation transaction, the coinbase signature, etc.  It's not always accurate, and it certainly misses sometimes.

A pool's own stats?  They should be 100% accurate, otherwise they're not properly tracking payouts and you, the miner, are getting the shaft because of it.

I've never mined on antpool so I don't know - I guess you mean antpool doesn't allow you to set the work difficulty?

As for cgminer,
I wrote most of the fixes early 2014 with the AntS1, based on their code, reformatted and modified, and put them in the public master cgminer git back then
They know and have ignored it and continued doing their version without my fixes and changes.
The strangest part of all is of course that they indeed use master git cgminer to get the main code updates ... once in a blue moon.
They've just ignored my updated S1/S2 (and now included S3) driver and built on their version each time.
Their code is just one driver with a changes for each S1, S2, ... S5 - as I've done also with my version of it.
(but they've also messed with other code in other parts of cgminer and caused problems)

The best share problem is the bitmain cgminer fork in the Ant, not the pool.
You can get around it if the pool allows you to set the difficulty.

You can see the difficulty values in the image being problematic with their code: 256 and 4096 being exact powers of 2

If you set them to something like 1042 (which would suit a 1THs miner) I think that works around their best share bug.

That's cool but this is the only pool i use i all ways see BestShare at  0 on all my S5's. no mater what setting i use or firm ware fork or version . i use a lot of pools. even my S3 saw best shares here even before I started using the new updated CGminer you just put out which is nice, btw.  ty  for the update.

to be honest i don't get why  they don't fix the little things, I  understand no time for firmware updates but fixing this can't take much on there part but yet they won't .

did I just fine one on antpool ?. If so How do tell, i really did ? .

unfortunate this pool does not return the best share value. i also dont think it lists its users anywhere on the pool info..

so you cant really tell for sure.. but it looks like it.

how many hardware manufacturers have set the API in their cgminer copies to allow change access to anyone ...
I wonder how many miners would stop if someone broadcast the word 'quit' to port 4028 across the internet Tongue

Probably not many.  Someone would have to have that port forwarded through their router to one of their machines.

facebook app also requests your username and pass is it malicious?  Wink
please stop talking bullshits

btckan is working with your antpool api (you can decide what permission level to give) if they hack btckan what exactly info they can steal from u? your btckan pass..... or they will look your miner speed....what a bad hacker

Way to open your mouth and remove all doubt as they say.  It has become apparent you don't understand bitcoin, security, and aren't paying attention to what I previously said. Are you just trying to be a troll?

nope you are the troll
i'm still waiting for an answer what exactly the hacker will stole from u if the app is compromised....your MONITORING account in Btckan ?.....what a drama he will see your hashrate

ps: dont answer me, you're right i forgot this is btctalk the drama queens forum....  i wish u a good day, nothing personal at all Wink

If the app is compromised and you now have malicious software on your phone, you have to assume that any passwords or usernames you have typed into your phone are now in the hands of the hackers.  Furthermore, you now have to assume that your 2FA is compromised, effectively disenabling any extra security measures you think are in place.  A malicious app or software does not stick strictly to whatever its running, you have to assume it has taken over every process of the phone.

It's amazing how one of you pop up every few weeks with no agenda other than to be annoying.  I have explained the above a couple of other times in our conversations and you refuse to listen.  I believe this ends our conversation on the matter though and further attempts to illicit a response will not be replied to.  Instead they will be reported for not being on topic to the thread anymore and negative feedback will be left for trolling and attempting to spread false information to new users.

His impression of ios security is not completely unfounded.

http://www.cnet.com/news/ios-scores-as-most-secure-mobile-os-in-new-report/

I believe there was an app called MobileMiner which could remotely monitor miners through your pool APIs, but they closed down on the 1st of July this year due to "lack of interest".
