How long will it take to break even

forever Cheesy

The longer that etn drags their feet and the last bytecoin is mined the better for cn asic owners.

How u people doing? Will break even at least?

It depends. Pretty much you are betting that some of those Cryptonight coins are lazy and don't fork to the new algo.

Then there is also the possibility that the old CN algo of XMR might survive very similarly like the Ethereum classic or Bitcoin Cash.

Either way it's a gamble and you are just better off buying some GPUs which seem like a more safe bet.

I'm VERY curious about this too, it seems it is possible to mine some good shittycoins and do a very good profit on nicehash

I think it can still pay itself along some weeks easily, can't it?

Not at all

Yeah I mean, now it is 1900 dollars for batch 4 and nice hash right now calculates it gets you 5000 dollars in a month, so I don't think it's too far fetched to think it can make 1900 dollars in the next 4 weeks after you receive this batch, it all depends on when you receive it

But people who bought it in batch 2 and 4, certainly could make a profit, maybe even in batch 1 they can get a profit. Am I missing something.

NiceHash say 5000$ in a month and 52$ in a day ..... But 52$ x 30days = 1560$   ..
What am I doing wrong?

Profit is now declining than before.
Today Nicehash remove X3 from its profitability calculator!

Whoa, can’t wait for this door stop to arrive. More should be shipped from next week. AntHeater X3, can we overclock?

There is something I dont understand about this, maybe someone has a theory or can explain:
1.) Bitmain develops and builds CN ASIC.
Now:
2.a.) Bitmain (slowly or according to production) starts mining with them and difficulty rises.
or
2.b.) Bitmain just sells them and parallely mines with a certain amount because difficulty would increase to much?

In case 2.a. the miners go offline at bitmain and go later online at the customer. That should not increase difficulty.

In case 2.b. Bitmain would lose much profit. They could just mine as long as possible and keep the difficulty at an ASIC attractive profitable level and dont overproduce the ASICs.

So the problem in this case was that the devs forked away, right?

My question is, at what point do they decide to sell miners if there is no forking away?

They start selling when the market makes them sell. It's likely a combo of 2 markets, the mining landscape and 2. the hardware landscape. They can probably guess, based on difficulty, when competitors begin to "burn in" similar models. Really, though, they'd err on the side of selling too soon rather than selling too late. You have to understand that the first to market (and first to hash) with new generations of tech make the most money. Every wave that follows theoretically should make less money than the first because each subsequent wave waters down the market and increases the difficulty.

Additionally, it's important to understand that Bitmain and similar companies are not mining companies. They deal in hardware. As such, they are at the top of the food chain. They really should only mine if they can do so easily, for clear profit, and with little or zero expense. To the extent that their mining business ever impedes their hardware sales, they're moving themselves down a rung on the food chain and profits take a hit.

Nicehash is misleading, the $5000 is base on last month earning, is NOT equal to the current daily $52 x 30 days. Newbies should be aware, don't fall into this trap like I did..

On the other hand Nicehash profit calculator, if used correctly, would give you an idea about the "trend" of that ASIC. $5000 last month and $52 now. Means that last month was making $166 per day. Now, after just 30 days, it's making $52 per day. The trend is clear. In about a month it will make about $6/$12 per day and in about 2 months it will make about $2/$4-5 per day so, chances to ROI are almost zero. The problem with a machine like that, that can only mine an ALGO with very few coins, is that those "poor" few coins will get "hammered" by miners, the exchange value will plump completely and there is no exit strategy.
In about 3 months from now the X3 will make not more than $1/$3 per day (not considering the electricity costs)

There are other asics that can ROI in some/several months. Look at the L3+. People consider it a miner for Litecoin. But this is totally untrue. You can mine any Scrypt coin and if you are good you can still make good profit out of it. There will be always new SCrypt coins.

This miner, the X3, and the other cryptonight Asics, can ONLY mine Cryptonight. But all of the coins ran away from CN (forked) and there will be NO new coins using this algo in the future. They will all use the new Cryptonight forked algo.

So this ASIC cryptonight miner and the other cryptnight miners are REAL garbage. I am NOT against ASICs. But honestly, this time, it's a total FAIL. I am sorry for the people who bought it and received it these days. They will NEVER ROI. And also the price for this miner on Ebay will plump. No one is gonna buy it.

At this point my suggestion is to try to get rid of this miner for as much money as possible and limit the loss. In about 1 month this miner will be worth not more than $200 on ebay.

When they have developed/tested Gen2 and Gen1 is outperformed.

It probably means the profitability is declining rapidly and you won't make $5000 or $1500.
