My guess is 15 to 20% max in USA.

the price drop and bear market last year was a major factor in difficulty dropping because it became more expensive, if 75% of mining is coming out of china unfortunately the usa is not the center of the mining universe, what so ever ! my opinion anyway .. bitfury up here in canada churns out a lot of custom servers for company’s as well.

2 years ago i got away with a batch of 10 s9is and i guess bitmain didn’t include a slip for value and when dhl contacted us about the value i said they were warrantly replacements 200$ value each and dodged most of the duty lol not sure how they screwed that up but was a blessing.

i’ll send dogecoin to everybody if we stop talking about that orange popsicle

While you are funny and I did smile. It is his tax   Grin

It may be one of the correct moves made by him.  As it looks like a big factor in the slowing of difficulty since Oct 2018.

For all of us other then sellers of new gear anything keeping difficulty in check is okay by me. This also helps non European countries along with anyone not subject to the 27.6% tax.

Still have to think a lot more of the gear would be sold if USA dropped to 2.6%

USA is far from a majority of miners ...

... and EU pays a high import duty also ...

Remember there are other (larger) countries than the USA ... blaming Trump is just a pushing a (false) political agenda.

What makes you think I am blaming him. I am giving Trump credit for helping control the worldwide difficulty of mining. I have stated this multiple times and will continue to state it. He invoked the Trump tax in Sept of 2018 and Starting in Oct of 2018 diff dropped and is yet to recover. I hope he boosts tax more to 40%.

Between his tax and Europe's tax  many nation's are not able to compete which lower's the difficulty.

I would have more than 1.3ph vs my current 570th if not for trump tax. Many of us miners in USA have not expanded mining or purchased gear. While you may think USA is not big if it is under 20% of the world I would be surprised.

And if it stayed flat at 9000ph  since OCT   vs going to 18000ph   The trump tax would  be a large reason for this happening. I think it is great and helps BTC not hurts it.  Anything that slows difficulty and forces miners to build solar + wind power ahead of buying more gear works for me.

So Kano I am surprised you think I dislike the Trump Tax. Wink

Now all importers must hate it and I get that.  But frankly I like the Trump Tax on mining gear as I think it helps USA buyer from buying too much gear.

Just as VAT hold back Europeans from buying too much gear.  Rather than building renewable power.

I still only paid 2.6% through DHL. I edited this post because I researched further and found 8543.70.9960 listed in additional 25% June 2018 tariff list. I wasn't aware there were multiple lists and only looking at September 2018. Grin Guess I'll wait and see if they hit me with another bill.

Well while I don't like them

they started in late sept 2018

the peak diff was oct 4 2018

and we are still well under that number.

I would argue the trump tax is very much responsible for stunted difficulty.  Since Oct 4 2018

Sooo Maybe  a jump to 40%  slows difficulty some more.

Trump is talking tough  about tariffs.  We could see a jump up from the 27.6% number  maybe 33-37%.

The stock market has tanked over the news the last 2 days.  A jump to 35% will put a real hurt on sales to USA.

I think this will be very interesting  if tax goes from 27.6 to 33 or 35 or worse 40%.

I am all for the reasons/purposes of the tariff but damn I still dont like having to pay them.

Yea, it happens we were lucky to clear our back log of solo buys this batch. Timing is everything and with bitcoin pumping sadly pricing will only go up and won't see any de minimis units on market. I think philips buy was mostly due to paypal not being very liquidable but I think we were able to refund 100% just took more time.

I might just be looking at s17 pro considering what will be available soonish.

Looks like we had errors on our listings. But our pricing changes often anyway. Group buy includes duties/tariff. If you have coupons though we can set up a transfer of it for your account with us otherwise you're better off ordering yourself. We'll track your earned coupons as well and transfer them back if people want to sell them or use off of their account with us.

I was tempted to pull the trigger myself but then like you're saying sold out, pretty quick.

I missed one with you a while back and have hesitated to buy one for now.

I am getting antsy on waiting but will continue to wait to buy more gear.

Stryfe, this is what our 2% earns you btw. All our solo buys pushed through. Our group buy hasn't reached 200 yet for the minimum to receive discounts.

yea, but if I recall you dont have the miners I want, T17 is what I am looking for, and I want to use coupons too lol unless you want to accept those as well Smiley

but without the coupon, yes you are right there with the pricing, it was 1460 from bitmain shipped to my house and it is 1490 shipped from you. However, I can get it for 1120 from bitmain with the coupon.

one question for you - and I think I asked this before but I forget - with your price, will I still need to pay the tariff or is that included? that might negate the gain from the coupon if it is included in your price.

I wonder if they used the open back design like the s15/t15's on a side would allow better heat dissipation horizontally?

Philip how are your temps with the middle rack with all the wires in front? Barely can see the unit.

I will ask the owner if he has some temp info.

I can see a big fan on the exhaust side so a lot of heat is pulled out of the box.

This thing can be putted on horizontal?

maybe not. i did that with a t15 and it shut down a few times.  one board ends up hotter then the others.
