Has anybody be charged with customs when just receiving one miner at a time? I feel that there must be a value threshold where the customs fee applies and just one z9 mini (especially with coupon) is below that.

I got 3 minis delivered today by DHL.  I was charged $42.20 for 2 but no charge for single one which was on a separate order. I am getting more by FedEx tomorrow and will know if I have to pay a duty or not. All are shipped to a residential address in Southern California.

I guess first 3 minis slipped through customs, today's 2 shipments of 2 minis were assessed $381.87 and $$428.59 by DHL. I am afraid of what FedEx will bill for 8 minis scheduled for delivery today.

This is turning into a great logistics thread.

Part of buying a chinese asic is the wait, worry, and dealing with international shipping/customs. It's useful conversation

No mention of customs fee due yet. This was customs at CVG international airport. ERLANGER, KY - CINCINNATI - USA

Batch one was billed by DHL about 20 days after delivery via mailed invoice at 2.6% for me. Don't get too happy yet.

I was charged $42 like the other user. And that was just custom fees and service fees, no tariff.

UPS just hit me for $214 each.  Nothing like an unexpected kick to the balls.

I am paying C$110 each (UPS). I live in Canada. Shipment also supposedly held by "severe weather conditions"  but all of the sudden appeared in Ontario today. One shipment was showing in Louisville for two days. UPS is really bad.

I got a ups online notification of $182 for import duties for z9 mini.  UPS shipped to california from HongKong.  This upsets me.  Is there anyway to dispute these outragious charges.

Unfortunately, the tariffs are enacted by the Trump administration. UPS isn't going to go against the government at this time. Just hope that in the future, the USA and China can come to some type of agreement.

This was not a new tariff.  This was a reclassification of miners under non-programmable, non-data processing electronics.  That is true of these devices and the reclassification occurred on June 8th, 2018.  Not defending some of the trade issues that Trump will bring the US, but this was not part of his work.

There was a request to have miners remain under tariff classification 8471.50.1050 May 29th, 2018, but this was denied.

I got my 2nd batch of z9 mini today. None of the 4 miner from this batch can hold 700 mhz clock, they can do 650mhz at 14.1k sol/s. Still fine tuning them for max hash rate.

2 miner from the first batch easily does 750mhz, 16k sol/s.

They are probably sorting chips for mini vs full size z9. That is common for other chip makers and helps explain variation in batch one hashrate. Unfortunate for batch two buyers on all fronts, it seems.

The Mini and full have same chips, it appears, and same rated MHz/performance. So not much need to sort the chips for either.

In the exact same environment, I have Z9 Mini ASICs at 64C to 75C;  2 out of 12 units that are faster at 725Mhz than 750, and 3 units that will not provide more than 15.5KSol/s. The rest all provide 16K+Sol/s as an average.

So yes, there is a need to sort chips if one wants something to look good (like their Z9 large out the door?) as there is clearly a lot of variance in these chips, even in batch1... batch2 just sounds "worse" so far.

Received a 10 pc order of Z9 mini on Wednesday with Fedex through my business account.  I had Fedex clear them through customs and so far no mention of the tariff.  But they bill my account and the bill is about 10 days behind so I won't be sure about my luck until mid September.

I started up 4 of them late Wednesday.  Software interface is the same as my first batch.  Tried setting them to 750 OC first thing and all 4 crashed.  Then backed them down to 600 and all 4 worked fine.  After seeing other's experience in this thread, I increased them to 681.  They are stable at 681 for the past few hours and averaging 15 KSol/S each.

Update:  I have all 10 of the 2nd batch running now.  Starting them all at 681.   Three of them dropped 1 chain at 681 after a few hours.  I backed the OC on those three to 675.  So far they are stable.

Have to lobby your senators and reps, in the meantime all we can do is prep and classify your shipments or rely on luck.

Did you buy your mini with a coupon?

It's just that 182 is not 25% of $850 -- so trying to understand how the import duty was calculated, and on your tracking information, did it originate from Hong Kong, or China?

Yes from hong kong.  and Yes I did have coupons,  I actually ordered 3 z9 mini with 3 coupons consisting of $200, $100, $100 amount I believe.  Total custom fee was $547  That ends up being about 25 percent
