Why do so many people think that increased hashing power on the network go hand in hand with Coin price appreciation? There is no reason to think this. It has happened by mere coincidence and for no other reason lately. It is entirely possible to have difficulty increase and coin price decrease.

About 1500 D3 were connected today. By November Bitmain will have to release d3 upgrade and ship that instead to keep the machines above $1 a day at this rate. 50 g/h would be appropriate.
OTOH, D3 will stay profitable even with 50'000 units connected and all mining dash. You'll start seeing 1year roi with 100'000 units. At that time I might get worried. But then, DASH will appreciate as normally happens. And you can also mine other cons as well, which means the real increase in the dash hashrate will be lower.
Regarding the updated D3, let's call it D3+: It will use the same technology as the D3 but with 4 mining cards instead of 3. This means it will draw approx. 1350W instead of the 1000W it needs now, which is the same H/KWh which means mining will cost the same.
We'll get better H/KWh with the new 10 or 7nm asics, which will come at the beginning of 2019 (if 10nm) or perhaps the end of 2019 (7nm).

Whoever lives in United States, can you tell me how much import duties' cost for one D3? If it it from UPS.
UPS charged me $39 for a D3.
how does it work? do they call you based on the phone number you provided to bitmain when you placed the original order? do you have to go show them your id and give your ssn?
When I checked the tracking number right on that page there was a notice about fees due so I knew right away and called them up so the package wouldn't get delayed.

You could also just call the call center and tell them about your order and ask what kind of documents you need to provide to speed the whole thing up.
The callcenter for the transportation services like UPS, i think you mean.

I agree with tails
lot of variables that changes every day. Lets hope its gone be something like L3+ in march 2018. Also scrypt has more coins and therefore more price stable.I brought 4 miners and presold 2 for costprice. I gone hold 1 because its my first miner and nice to have for experiance and maybe profit (toff time with 20 eurocent per KWH). And yes, we are somethimes bit rough on Bitmain. Just lets hope they have done thier homework about the quantity of miners. They are no amatuers and also betting bigtime on the crypto currencies. I think the profitmarges on miners are not that big, but its better to expand the market and let your coins grow to

Order 2 antminers D3 to the Netherlands. Is 210 dollar for UPS + 3% boardercontrol + 5 to 10 bucks extra at UPS for putting upfront cost. Over this total we pay again 21% over the total purchase and traffic cost. After this, i have to compete from 20 eurocent KWH against most 10 dollarcent KWH. So American investers are better of then most western Europe countries.
Just attach it to a windmill
Gone connect them to my hometrainer and run all my frustration out of it
