I understand that you are a fan of all things BMT, but what makes you to be an expert on S9?  Tongue
1) I'm not a "fan".
2) Experience with ~1,000 units?

1% number could be accurate with regards to recent batches of autotuning 13.5Th machines, but initial batches (last summer, not autotuning) had up to 10% (or even a bit higher) board failure rate (within first couple of months) according to multiple sources, which was amply documented here and elsewhere.

Perhaps, most machines that you got were purchased during later part of 2016 or in 2017.

In summary, we have a better S9 in modification (from 12TH to 14TH) which have reducing the failure rate each batch, do we?

i have 3 machines from the earlier batches and i lost 5 boards from 9
1 of them sent for repair 2 times
2 of them sent for repair 3 times!
after repairing it and return it take from 1 to 3 months to stop hashing again
now i have one board on the way to then for the 4 time
and i have one with them it stopped after 3 days from repair and sent again under warranty to china ( the paid for shipping )

i have 6 autotune machine + 2 R4 and not lost a single board
i have room with digital control to make temp not exceeded 30C so temp on my room between 18 to 30C

Just received a S9. the hash rate is correct however it is not reporting the Temp (Chip1). Is this normal with the new batch?

Hello community, anyone can advise on this? Bitmain hasn't replied yet.
thanks.

All Ur Base Is Belong To Us
Lucky for us there's competition and we have other choices.

Well we have one other choice, yes. It's looking more and more attractive every time Bitmain ships me crap equipment. I'm hoping they turn this around quickly.

What competition? Something equivalent or better then ASICBoost?

anyone send wires for the miners to bitmain?

on the order page, it says: Choose "PAY ALL FEES" when you wire payment

i dont see that on my wire processing page in my online banking. where is this option or do i have to go into the bank and manually do the wire there to have fees paid on my end?
All fees for the wire payment must be paid and you should ask your bank for more specific information at how to do that.

Maybe call them or send e-mail or send message via internet bank.

yea i will  have to call in the morning or go in. i dont see it on the bank of america wire sending page.

If you're using BoA then the fee is $45 and if paying online the total amount is calculated automatically and shown to you before you approve the transfer.  Also it may not matter since you're buying from Bitmain and they won't ship for a few months, but it's not uncommon for BoA to hold your transfer for a couple of days to do their day trading before sending it along.  This is pretty much common practice nowadays from banks.  If it was time sensitive or if you want to reduce your fee I would recommend buying BTC for your purchase.  You can get a good rate and there's tons of people who accept cash deposits into BoA on LBC.

I understand the fees on my end, i send a lot of wires out. but the instructions say pay all fees. typically that means i have to pay the fees on their side. when they receive the money in usd, their bank probably charges them a fee for inbound or conversion, so i am assuming they are asking us to pay those fees.

do you send wires to them? via bank of america? any issues?

anyone have some input on this from sending wires via bank of america?

Hello guys. My S9 seem to have lost two hashing boards, probably due to overheating. One is showing half of the chips, but doesn't send off any shares and the second one doesn't get recognized at all. I have tried factory reset and few more things but nothing happened. Would like to try to put on newest firmware, just to make sure I have attempted all the options. Is there any other suggestion what I could do to try to repair it?
Could someone point me where is it possible to download the newest firmware?

Firmware is not going to fix your problem. If its under warranty, open up a ticket with BITMAIN and wait. If its out of warranty, send it to BITMAIN WARRANTY located on Colorado. Those are pretty much your only options.

Evil beware: We have waffles!
Firmware is NOT a solution to hardware issues.... The boards need repair.
The one not seen at all -- are its red lights by the PCIe plugs on showing the board power is good?

As for obtaining firmware Roll Eyes It take it you never bothered to check Bitmains website did you?....

Unfortunately Bitmain is not currently accepting BTC payments, only LTC and LTC must be done on the spot and received within 30 mins. So if you don't have the LTC ready to go it is impractical.

Bitcoin FTW!
I'm getting very frustrated with the poor S9 quality. Out of the (6) S9 that I received, one whole unit is DOA and another has 1 dead hash board after running for a couple weeks. I also received a DOA PSU. The DOA units have been sitting at BITMAIN California for two weeks with no response, now i gotta send off the other. Be careful folks before you spend money. Evaluate all of your options.

Which batch were they from? I remember reading a month or two ago that a bunch of people were having problems from the batch that was just shipped. If you can get a refund I'd pick up some L3+'s from them, get away from the S9 line all together as they've been having problems.
just received within the past couple weeks. Absolute garbage. bought allot from them. 30% failure rate is unacceptable. Best response they can give me is send them in for warranty repair.

Yeah, that's really unfortunate. Did you pre-order them months in advance before when everyone was talking about how they were failing left and right, or after?
I think they were ordered late may early June. Up until recently I haven't had a horrible experience. The stuff they're putting out now is just not good quality at all. Like they're not even trying to give hAlf a cap that people pay money for this stuff.
They never really did, likely they are cutting more corners and putting higher production on their L3+ and D3 miners as there's more demand for them. Big reason why I don't like buying anything from them these days.

I've always used Bitmain psu with an environment with proper temperature.
