ok one more issue , i poped the 2 good plades into a completly dead 1 fan unit case , fashed the controller with the 4.86th 2 fan 600 freq fw , since its only got one fan its throwing errors out and shutting down the miner .

can i just reflash the single fan fw and downclock it to 600 freq and run it like that ?

since its non electrically conductive at all unlike the other stuff

thanks i guess its worth a shot , i thought about a small drop of jb weld but i doubt it would conduct the heat from the chip to the heatsink

Looks line one of mine has had a more catastrophic failure.

That always happens for my miners too, during the startup for a short moment.
But they start hashing normally.

Yes I know that, so 4 hours later no change.

SSH'ed into the miner, looking at the logs seems there is a problem with my hosts DNS resolution
Ok, good to know that if that status stays for a longer period it could be caused for example by a DNS resolution problem.

Yep, put the IP of the pool in as a backup and it started right back up.

Spoke too soon, seems that my little DNS problem was perhaps a symptom of a bigger issue with my hosting provider, looks all sorted now though!

i just got shipped a couple 600freq boards( 4.83 th )  to replace some burnt out boards in 2 of my miners , well one of the boards 4 heatsinks fell off on the chip side.
it looks like they were just glued onto the chips , whats the proper stuff to reglue the heatsinks back on with.

doesnt apear to be any damage to the chips at all

Fortunately for me, I've had a very solid last 6 weeks. No real problems, I don't turn them off unless absolutely necessary. Just let them run and don't mess with them seems to work great.

That has been true for four of the six units.  the other two oh well

I have another dead hash board two weeks out of warranty.

If anyone can take a look at some pictures and offer advice it is appreciated.

I may have bad solder joints.

I added a screenshot of BMminer showing that POV of the problem board:

This is what happens after 1 minute exactly.

Same to me after 3 weeks run the miners (S9 600, Batch 15), sent 2 hashboards to HK to claim warranty last week. Costs me $55.. Sad
Just found out this morning, another hashboard is not working....Damn!  Undecided what happen to S9?? i never have problems with my S7 hashboards before (only fan was broken).

yes it has been hard with the s9.

6 units for me

4 = perfect since late june

1 was perfect from june to late august.  one hash board died say august 25th?  now last week a second hash board died.

1 was purchased in august.  it died in 10 hours 1 dead hash board  got a replacement board and the controller died a day later.  I purchased a couple of controllers from yoshi of bitmainwarranty it works now.

At this point  I am looking to send in a dead hashboard from batch one  and pay for repairs as it is out of warranty. I will also send in the dead controller from the august batch 9?  as it is under warranty.

I am grateful 4 units keep working and afraid they will break .

I am also happy that I hav used bitmainwarranty for repairs as NJ,USA to CO,USA   is faster.

@ bitmainwarranty

I SENT AN EMIAL to yoshi  of bitmainwarranty today  as I am looking to pay for the batch 1 hashboard repair and get an rma on the batch 9? controller.

There is no definite Error status for this.  If it is loose and you can move it with finger, then yes, that is one of the problem.  You may want to get it send in for the warranty or get it fixed.  Self Repair on item like this may voids the warranty for future damage tho. (Something to consider as re-worked PCB can be easily seen by the engineer while in diagnostic)

Item like this, if you receive it, USA/RU/UA locations will not charge you to solder them back on. (do request shipping fee be paid both way tho...)

BitmainWarranty emailed getting my loony batch-1 board and are looking at it. Looks like another board going to be headed their way even though the miner IS in warranty, even with repair cost is faster/prolly cheaper than sending it to Hong Kong.
I've heard about the loosely attached inductor in some hash boards that makes the board not to show up, but I guess that this is not that kind of a case?
1st I've heard of that and good to know. I'll find out tomorrow when I pull the board out during lunch.
Here is a picture of it (click for zoom):

And here is a video about that kind of a case by Youtube user "Yemira": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiDkCCBIq58

If I see this on my board I have a 75w iron just for this kind of thing so will be an easy repair for me to do Wink

Any um' 'side effects' of the bad Vcore power to be aware of that this kind of fault could produce as in possible damage to the ASIC's?

What is the error? not to show up? or  is it xxxxxx xxxxxxx xxxxxxx xxxxxx all?
or just 00000 00 0000 0000 0000000 000000000000 ?

Socket Connection Failed and if  you see it within 5 minutes, S9 may still be in the booting process.  (Specially within the first 3 minutes)

...SNIP

Can you take a look at my issue and make a recommendation?

Longer wait, then you may want to check the pool connection or internet connection or yes DNS possibility.

If your S9 is not hashing, or you think its not hashing, please look for the RED LED near the PCI-E power plug on the Hash PCB and check if the light is on.  If the light is off on all 3 hash PCB, then it is not hashing.  If you see 1 or 2 hash PCB and lights are on, then if you do not see all 3, you may have 1 non-hashing PCB.

but the blinking red lights may come on and off a few times during the boot up sequence.

Best be please wait for 5 minutes, before checking any hashing Status to be sure!!

P.S  Connection Refused status message indicate its a good sign as highly likely you are not dealing with the dead hardware but something technical in config related issues.

Looks line one of mine has had a more catastrophic failure.

edit: By the way, S9 batch 16 is most likely coming up soon.
I found this at www.bitmaintech.com/bitcoin.htm list.
Batch 16 at 13.5Th/s: https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201610020801570128HI8003t05EC
Any thoughts on this guys?

The default frequency for 13.5Th/s must be something like 625Mhz -ish.
I wonder if the price will be 1583USD/2.616BTC for real like it says on the page.
Release date maybe October 8.

Bitmain does this, adds provisional product pages but not linked from the main Antminer page until they are ready. Remember they did the same thing with the R4.

Strange link. No technical characteristics, apart from hashing speed and presumable price.
Blank space where S9 specifications are supposed to be.
is it possible? yes, of course, even probable.
