Has anyone turned the fan speed down on their S9? Just how quiet can you get it? Im asking as im considering one for home (currently have an S7LN) and ambient temperature isn't a problem so overheating wont be either. Just thinking that an S9 would have more resale potential if I decide to give up on mining.

I've got hosting space for about half a dozen S9 if anyone's looking to buy but needs somewhere to put 'em. $65 per kilowatt per month means about $3 a day. Just throwing that out there.

I wonder if these batches are going to be more reliable? Also strange to suddenly have very precise hashing figures compared to previous batches of all miners.

I think they simply rounded up the numbers.

Electrical engineer. Mining since 2014.
Dear Bitcoiners,

We are back from the Chinese National Day holidays and we have good news for all: we are releasing two new batches of the Antminer S9 today (10 October 2016) at 2300 hours (GMT +8, Beijing time).

Batch 16 and batch 17 can deliver a hashrate of 12TH/s and 13TH/s, respectively.

We advise all to confirm their order here (https://goo.gl/CxQZx0) for batch 16 or here (https://goo.gl/ZRqVao) for batch 17 soon after the sales open to secure their order while the stock lasts.

Happy mining,

the Bitmain team

What about new batches of the R4?  Smiley

Just wanted to give a POSITIVE shoutout to Bitmain Warranty, bought a new S9 from them that i had an issue with. They immediately sent me a return label and promptly issued me a refund. I really cant see a reason to buy new Bitmain hardware from anyone else!

Good I am glad they helped you out.

They have replaced 2 dead boards and are doing one more Rma for me as I type.

If you are USA based consider them for repair vs China .

My third board is out of warranty so I will report back repair price on it soon.

Would not recommend that!!!  If the original frequency was 550, you really want to keep it at 550m

can i buy heatsink and use it with this Arctic Silver on S9 550 Chips which not have heatsink on it to be like 600 batches?

since its non electrically conductive at all unlike the other stuff

this stuff works great , glued my heatsinks right back on no issues

@sunny163,

if you have another PSU, please test it with another PSU with all 3 hash PCB connected, I suspect PSU may be faulty.  I see you use APW3 1600W in the earlier video.  It is the correct PSU but either the PSU is bad or you have unstable voltage at the intake not stable 234V.  (If your voltage goes up and down between 200v - 240v, then that may be but you may have a bad PSU there)

India, I wish we had a service station but all we have is the small presence and not ready to provide localized service there.

I'd say your having a psu problem then as the voltage drops too much when it trys to start hashing.

Yes that is correct but when i connect only control board with PSU then it is not stopping
When hash board are conected then for little time it will work well then it will on off like in video which i shared

Mine for a Bit
@sunny163,

i think if its under warranty, time to send it to Hong Kong.

Yeah as that test pretty much means the psu is not the issue.

@ fusion0389 it should come back after the 8th

It is not under warranty it's of batch 2

yesterday around 3 hour it worked well at 500 at 80% but now it is behaving like this :-

The control board is only using about 100w or something the main draw are the hashing boards. That's what's putting the psu under strain. Have you got a psu that is definitely working properly that you could swap?

I really suspect electricity feed or the PSU.  Control Module could be bad but your meter loses 12v not sure where you are measuring it but, unit loses power.

If not the electricity, then control Module be the next suspect.

Hash PCB only works 40 minutes to 1 hours and 45 minutes max?

@sunny163

I watched some of your videos.  It could be the S9 but to eliminate other possibility, please check your intake electricity voltage.  I see you are using Antminer PSU 1600W model.  This PSU needs 205V or higher.  I can hear S9 about to power on then lose power.  You may have the unsteady voltage, or Controller may be bad for the S9, however, I suspect the PSU intake voltage as  you can mine sometimes and not the other time.

I removed one hashboard 3 pci-e connector and other 2 hashboard at 500 at 80 %
This is the video of what is happening to miner with multimeter readings :-

here is my place voltage from electricity company
https://postimg.org/image/z3gp0mtwt/

tried each hashboard one at a time
with 1st hashboard it ran for 1 hr 45 min
with 2nd hashboard it ran for 40 min
with 3rd hashboard it ran for 45 min
and then the miner is behaving like the video which i shared

When i only connect one pci-e to controll board fan runs and it doesn't stop like this after 40 min or 1 hour and 45 min
