On the S9 controller there is two fan connectors but the board have place for 6 others fans connectors.

Do you know if these connectors placeholder receive power? If yes would it be possible to add fan connectors.

Here is an idea for a quieter miner. Remove the case and have 2 fans pointing directly at each blade sideways. So the fans would be pointing directly over the heatsink. With this setup I'm sure it would be possible to use lower cfm fans (quieter). 6 quiet fans is a lot better than 2 jet engines. Anyone tried this?

If the controller cannot power more than 2 fans it is possible to use a 1-to-3 splitter to power 3 fans per connector.

Thanks for the ideas, but I'm not to the point of removing the case.

There HAS GOT to be a good way to shut up that SIREN sound on the S9 11.85!!!

I have read on here about loosening screws, tightening screws, and putting some paper on the intake to partially block air flow. There may be other suggestions that I missed as I haven't read every page.

Well, I have tried loosening and tightening without any effect.

Putting a piece of cardboard to partially block the intake works, but, of course, raises the temperatures.

I have also set the fan speed manually to 87%. But if I take that cardboard away, the siren starts back up.

I'm concerned the neighbors are going to complain if I don't shut up that noise because their front porch faces the windows that I'm drawing air in from. And I really don't WANT to obstruct air flow as I've had to down-clock a lot to keep it cool enough.

Any other thoughts on that noise? Would switching out one or both fans have any effect?
Good Lord that is an abrasive sound!!!!

Thanks for any more thoughts on this annoying and irritating problem!! Smiley

EDIT: Does the foam AC filter trick work well? Are you covering the whole intake or just the part that will stop the squeal?
Hell, I'll cut a piece off of an AC I'm not using right now. Thanks!!

EDIT2: Well putting an AC filter over the intake didn't stop the squeal. BUT, I found that taping a small piece of cardboard on the top right corner of the out-take fan did stop the noise. The noise has stopped but I'm not too keen on having flammable cardboard in that hot zone. I have to find a replacement material. It's also keeping the temps higher than I would like even with it under-clocked.

Still seeking a good solution.  Undecided

Hello. I have one of these and just want to ask how hot it runs for other people mine is about 45C boards and 90C chips. Chips seems a bit too hot. Does anyone know what are the safe temperatures fro those machines to operate on?

Thank you

your numbers are good

most want below 100c  chips

and below 65 c            boards.

but  all of mine are like 62c-92c  a spread of 30 c

I never read a 45c -90c until you

can you post a screen shot of your gui?

Does Bitcoinwisdom still use the old block reward for litecoin?

They do, though it's easy to fix.

I suspect the owner of the site has either been way too busy, or just doesn't care enough about the site any more, to fix the block rewards.
It would also be nice if they would update their markets selection on the main page.

The flexability still makes it my favorite calculator by a wide margin.

I can not find any contact email or support or anything.

Some of the last comments in the thread are talking about the litecoin calc not accounting for the halving.

JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/dhl-shipping-issues-who-is-at-fault-need-advice-squall1066-vs-bitmain-1551817

I have recently posted a scam accusation against bitmain, I DO NOT claim him to be a direct scammer, I am claiming he has used my details to ship multiple items.

I have been contacted with intent of investigation from a few importing authorities from around the world as to why I am not providing proof of identity due to KYC from these countries.

My units along with many others are now being sent back to bitmain.

I am, now acquiring legal representation to prove those units are not mine (easy as I have most of the inf I need) this is now costing me time and money.

lol I only ordered 2 units! I will not use bitmain directly again, this is just a stupid shipping mistake, but a costly one.

BITMAIN has not responded to my direct and indirect inquiries so hence this move.

Best all, carry on.

Right, but

blocks of 12.95  since kano.is is paying about that each block

which is clearly visible in the screenshot. Anyone actually paying attention to the values they're putting into the calculator should notice the block payout set it to accurate.

- though I wonder if bitcoinwisdom is going to update the default settings anytime soon; perhaps they should be reminded?

I will email them

Does Bitcoinwisdom still use the old block reward for litecoin? I remember up until a couple months ago, they were still set at the old higher litecoin block reward size. They've never bothered to update the litecoin block reward.

I'm just pointing this out because they haven't bothered to update the bitcoin block reward size from 25 to 12.5.

Are they just lazy, don't care, or stupid?

I'm guessing not a top priority since you can change it your self on "Block Reward".   I would hope they are working on it and surprised it has not made it out there yet.  Still one of my favorite calculator's just have to make sure to change block reward manually right now.

I would hope no one actually uses it and does not manually update it.  As that would be quite a problem when calculating ROI.   But were kinda getting offtrack of S9, although this thread has a LOT of that it seems.

Just use it then divide your results in half. or by two for the critics.

One small item to consider. I am not 100% sure what block reward is being used by bitcoinwisdom on it's "Bitcoin Difficulty" page. When you drill down into the "Bitcoin Calculator" page, it still fills in a 25BTC block reward. You can obviously over-ride that, but it can be a bit misleading.

For profit/loss calculations, you might want to consider using the coinwarz.com calculator. It's obvious as to what it's using.
