Will there be pools setup at launch?

No pools have been organized to be setup, as that would be against the principals of the project (no hype, natural adoption and all).

miningpool.co have stated that they will be adding support when bitmark launches, so that is one for sure.

So instead of buying hash anyone who wants to contribute to the project should put that money towards the foundation's IPM fund right?

I would say could instead of should.

If putting money towards the IPM, then 95% of the coins you would generate will be sent to you, with 5% for the foundation.

Or you can mine yourself, and if you like donate any percentage to the foundation.

Until we have documented or created a way to keep track of things for the IPM, it may be better to just mine yourself, and donate to the Bitmark Foundation BTM address if you like. There is no rush, and the first bitmarks mined cannot be sent until 720 blocks later, roughly one day.

The genesis block has been found, with a timestamp of 18:00:41, and the message "13/July/2014, with memory of the past, we look to the future."

Everything is ready for launch, with some hours spare.

I will be pointing some long term hash at BM assuming all goes well and there is somewhere to aim it!

The release is tested and ready.

You can also solo mine, all common scrypt miners have been tested, they are all supported Smiley

I will be solo mining, we do not need a pool, although a few will be nice to have.

Rather concerned that miningpool.co seems to be down

One of my favourite pools - hope all is well...

I have no idea as to why, no affiliation. Perhaps message ethought, as far as I know it is his pool, or see if there is a support thread or twitter with updates?

I hope miningpool.co has no impact on the release of Bitmark later, that would be sad.

Quite - now going to be AFK until much later...

Again, good luck...

Weeeehaa! Great!
I'll put my little rig mining those shiny Bitmarks. I want to be one of the pionners on this new adventure.
Can't wait for the launch! Grin

Excellent!

It is a shame I will miss the launch owing to 'family' time (I hate weekend launches!) but will point some hash asap tomorrow.

Good luck!

Update

The client is ready for release tomorrow. The genesis block is not, I have 48 cores looking for it, it will be found.

I read a post a moment ago, which sums up why we are making Bitmark, so that people need not make posts like this.

This is our first goal, to ensure that people who want to adopt Bitmark, can adopt it easily.

Well done as usual. Smiley

Thank you for creating this, a few people are in all ready.

Funding
I had forgotten to include the server setup fee in the original amount needed, as such we were 0.0825 BTC short.
I covered this from my own very limited funds. If anybody would like to replace this, I would be very grateful, as my own finances are very tightly balanced in order to do this project.
More details on donating can be found on the first page.

We already have a IRC channel on freenode.net. Check it out.

For real time discussion, yes let's create #bitmark in freenode.

Either a forum on the Bitmark website or perhaps another thread here on bitcointalk might work for the discussion part of it.

We have already proved it possible to have useful discussions on bitcointalk. One thread may not be enough.
We can prefix discussion threads with [BITMARK] and post them under alternative currencies.
This should work for the time being. It is good to keep discussion in a place which is active, if we need our own distinct discussion forum later we can create it then.

Thank you, these are all reasonable suggestions which we can utilize quickly.

Github and Trello for organization.
Bitcointalk and reddit for open discussion.
IRC for real time discussion.
Website, twitter and the usual things for those who wish to keep updated but not necessarily engaged.

https://trello.com/ is free and can be good for project organization.

Thank you, I will look in to this. Pandher also just suggested this too.

Telegram is good. https://telegram.org/

It is very important that discussion is open to everyone. We can use IRC for real time discussions when needed as you suggested, with a logger.

But I don't think it is going to help us when it comes to continuing discussion.

Yes we need open discussion where the community is aware of what is being discussed and can engage as they wish.

Maybe http://freenode.net/ ?

This thread may get cluttered after tomorrow, we should discuss how and where to host future discussions of the quality so far.

Maybe basecamp or something similar to discuss the project?

This is a zero budget project where our only resource is time and thought, basecamp require payment, so perhaps something similar but free.

I am glad you suggested something which is good for collaboration and organizing projects, rather than a forum, that will keep us all focussed and productive.
