I have now successfully withdrew my Bitcoin. I hope the new owner will be willing to keep the wallets live. So that people who may not be able to withdraw before it gets shut down they can. I certainly would do this.

Lucky you. I have been waiting for over 6 hours, including others who have posted around the forum.

thanks for your service, we'll move on to the next and hope they have more luck.

+1 for final auction of the site

the service was not perfect, but quite near ..

possible alternatives:
http://www.litecointraders.com/ (not checked yet)
https://www.bitcoin247sales.com/ (minimal price kills opportunity, very few items right now, very new service, really bad user experience (tested as seller), no flexibility in shipping fees - e.g. worldwide has huge variance)
http://www.coingig.com/ (no ssl / secure login; separated account for selling/bidding - SERIOUS SECURITY WARNING!)
http://www.bitrun.net/ (no ssl / secure login - SERIOUS SECURITY WARNING!)
https://cryptothrift.com/ (no option to add fees to price, no flexibility for unknown shipping prices - why should sellers pay out of their pockets?! I miss prices denominyted in bitcoin)

i recommend the sites to have a referal-system for better spread and check processes for both parties to be smooth and secure.
also pgp, s/mime for contact and tls secured forms and signed fingerprint information are recommended. escrow for auctions has to be built in.

free certs you can get via wot-ca http://cacert.org/ - root certs are not included in browsers yet, but this will change when people promote use it. modern browsers also support certificate pinning (e.g. hsts)

What should I do about a situation where the seller has refused to release a BTC refund from escrow when the two $100 Amazon gift cards that I paid for had previously been redeemed on another Amazon account?

He asked me yesterday to give him 10 minutes to look into the issue with Amazon support.  4.5 hours later, I told him I'd be requesting a refund if he was unable to provide working codes within the next 16 hours.

I requested the refund and he declined to release the funds from escrow.  I'll gladly release the funds to him if he provides working codes, but I'd rather lose what I paid to an eternally unresolved escrow dispute than to release the funds to a crook.

Here's the listing in question.

This is only an estimate, which doesnt take into consideration the various problems that need to be fixed.
I say 30$ and not a penny more. Wink

Anybody having problems with withdraw confirmation emails?
Two of mine took over 4 hours each to come through.  Then, there was three in a row that showed up for the same transaction.

I'll just have to wait it out then. Thank you for that information.

Mining for the hell of it.
I am unsure as to the reasonings. Bidding on the site is one thing however having the server power is another.

Is he closing the site because of pressure from government or the powers that be.  Either way, I would like to bid on the site.  Tosaki should create one final bitmit listing in which he opens up the website to potential buyers.  BitMit should live on.
