Mining for the hell of it.
I really hope they get with me. I really would like to keep the site online. Heck i would probably be able to drop the over all costs also and make the site better.

Does the owner of bitmit still frequent here? Or does anyone know how to get in contact with him? I'd like to make an offer to buy bitmit and keep it running. I was hoping to buy it and keep everything operational as it switches hands but it looks like he is already shutting it down, Sad

Now they're not displaying items anymore, even if you search.

This sucks.  I had active auctions with bids that had like 4 days left.  I guess I'll have to delist them now.

I hope the bidders aren't too disappointed, but I don't think it's fair to honor the bids either since ppl can't even view them anymore to place new bids.

Hadn't they previously said that users could continue to purchase items for at least some more days yet?

I also have one unreleased escrow.  It's only 0.111 BTC, but still I'd like to receive it.  I PM'd the buyer, but no response yet.  The item was delivered.

Bitalo is working hard to replace bitmit.

In our marketplace we are trying to combine multiple bitcoin services including a marketplace for physical goods and services such as bitmit did.

The speciality is and major difference to all other sites is, that we also offer extremely secure multi signature wallets where users do not give up control over their bitcoins and neither the admins nor any hackers would have access to coins. Even buyer and seller can transfer the coins without our consent, as 2 out of 3 parties need to approve a transaction. We are only needed in case of a scam.

We are still facing some trouble with implementation and regulatory issues, but we are about to solve them as soon as possible.

You can take a look on Bitalo.com or at our beta page: beta.bitalo.com

PS: Bitalo is proud sponsor of london expo bitcoin conference and will introduce their innovative concept to the world:
http://bitcoinexpo.co.uk/

you have some great ideas here so its all going to come down to implementation. can you make it polished, well organized, and (mostly) bug free?

also instead of just having you guys do escrow, have you thought about allowing users to sell arbitration services on the website its self just like other goods? with a strong reputation system and multisig functionality i think it could definitely work and it would allow you guys to spend more time developing the website rather than playing judge judy all day.

Hello,

I wasn't intend on posting here. But seeing Bitmit is closing shop, I wanted to bring attention to a similar service my company is offering at:

www.bitcoin247sales.com

(as described here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-bitcoin247salescom-marketplace-cheapest-around-316750 )

We've launched the service since a week now. And we're intend on expanding it. I believe we're the cheapest service currently available, and I intend on keeping it like that.
We provide escrow.
Auctions aren't implemented yet, but I'm working on having that feature added asap.
Adding an automatic delivery system for digital items is in the works too.
Both these features are expected to come online by the end of next week.

And this:
"they dont even have a SSL. cert  Huh"

Our service has SSL ;-)

I'm aware we might not have the best looking site out there. But currently we're focussing on functionality and speed of the website. We can work on looks in a later stadium.
With questions, suggestions, requests, we're available at [email protected]

We're also looking at how we can offer credit card payments, with the seller receiving his payment in bitcoin. (Is a bit tricky with the chargebacks)

i've 290+ rating on bitmit all positive including sales to users from here!

coingig.com looks the most promising replacement and their support seems open to suggestions for improvement and interface is actually nicer than bitmit, once I have time I will test out putting few sales

http://www.coingig.com is quickly filling with shit nobody needs and the obvious scams.
Looks like thats the legitimate successor.

haha Cheesy

I already had my first escrow problem, the support is fast and professional though.

we are not open yet.

In particular the marketplace is still far away from being completed, and it would probably stat without auctions, as implementing a time-sensitive process is not such an easy thing.

But we did some good progress recently, the developers have all specs and the funding is secured.
