They won't answer. The standard procedure for investigating transactions they consider suspicious or anomalous is to always maintain silence while inquiries are being made. This is to prevent the "suspect" from doing something that would, if it turns out the funds were from illicit proceeds, pervert the course of justice or destroy any evidentiary trail linking the transaction to the person of interest. Assuming your funds were wired from your own bank account and the source of those funds are legit, then you have nothing to fear. Bitstamp will not steal your funds. You will eventually get your money after they complete their checks and inquiries.

If it turns out that the risks are too high for Bitstamp to absorb, then they will return your funds but you should expect them to close your account. They have done this to some here, especially if they cannot ascertain or conclusively verify the source of (very substantial) funds and your identity.

I sent 22k EUR on the 5th of September to bitstamp. So far no money on account.
The response from their support was they are processing it. That's it.
Last time I sent 14 kEUR and it took 1,5 days to see the credit on my account

Got answer today about KYC, lot of questions...
I'm going to answer soon today, what's the process time after replying?
Anyone experienced already?

Three years ago one of my wire deposits was also not appearing and I was asked about KYC.
I replied and after that it took about 36 hours before they asked to send some documents backing my response.
I replied again and after about 10 mins my wire was credited.

Looks like this is the same shit again, but sofar I am still waiting for any response from support. It's been 6 days since my SEPA-wire was sent. Incredible.

They probably have a transaction filtration system, channeling all incoming SWIFTs and SEPAs through an AML/KYC filter. They are stricter and slower these days, unlike back in 2013/14 when they simply credited all payments same day. Back then they had issues with their banking partners being watch-listed by most European banks which were blocking payments to/from their commercial accounts in Slovenia. As a result of their licensing and accreditation, they no longer have such problems but they are of course stricter with vetting inward and outward payments, just like any other bank.

When sending payments to them (or outward to your account) ensure that the name matches your KYC credentials to the letter. Put the correct references or transaction descriptors, if any, and no FFC advisories should be linked to the TT/BIC instructions.

Well usually my SEPAs arrived within one day max.

Judging from the comments on their latest Facebook posting I am not the only one with the problem:

What the hell is going on here?

Did you do anything differently the first time, compared to the second time apart from the amounts involved?

I mean it would not make any sense for them to process the $20k deposit so quickly but flag the $50k deposit. They are all in the same bracket of big deposits and $30k really doesn't make a difference, especially when your account was verified anyways.

Still no deposit, it was fastest SWIFT option transfer which usually take max 1 day (or same day)
 Sad

Telephone is a joke, not working at all.
No answer on ticket support.

Well, you could try to reach them on twitter: https://twitter.com/Bitstamp. keep calling them, and keep making tickets until they respond. Perhaps even try to get their founder on LinkedIn. Nothing else that you can do.

All did perfectly the same, before sending money created wire transfer deposit for exact sum.
Send money using the most expensive and fastest possible option, all data exactly the same including message, checked that 5 times.
In other words no issue from my side, I even called my bank to check if transfer was done correctly, they confirmed no problems on their side.
No responses on twitter.

Darn. In that case really the only option for you is to wait for them to sort of the issue internally. It could be that they are just looking at the transfer and waiting a bit so that it is safer for them to handle. Though still, it should not take this long, and it baffles me why you got your first deposit through so quickly but the second one was very late. Maybe it's because the first one was just an anomaly. International SWIFT transfers do take a while sometimes.

Keep on trying to reach them via various platforms, and hope for a response.

At least you are dealing with a licensed exchange here.

What you mean by "check funds" it there are MY funds send from MY bank, sender details are identical as verified on their system ?
It's not holding someone's money nothing else, bullshit about regulations and KYC bla bla.
I wasted alsmost 100$ for making super fast SWIFT transfer and they just holding it.

"Your patience will be tested"
Sorry I'm not that type of person who want to be "tested" by some dodgers.

Moreover few weeks ago I asked them clearly, if you have any limits for verified account had reply that verified account have no limits.
Just want to warn all others, they earn money from us users they are here for us to serve good quality.

Telephone line on website---- what's the purpose of displaying phone (Cell phone) which is turned off.
Total "Joke" not funny.

For this moment I will recommend sincerly anyone here to stay away from them as far away as possible.
I will keep you updated in this thread.

I have transfered few days ago ~20k 0 problems same day (excited about speed)
I did the same yesterday with over 50k, no deposit (USD)
Bank transfer done perfectly according to deposit data.
Second which is delayed was even made in earlier hours than first and still nothing.

Anyone know what's going on, do they have any special policy for "bigger" deposit transactions ?

By the way, their support sucks balls at least for me, many days for replies.....
Can anyone recommned good EU based BTC exchange?

Bitstamp is a regulated and licensed exchange. They are extremely keen to protect this accreditation and will almost always comply with the standards imposed by Luxembourg regulators. For big deposits, expect these transactions to be checked and vetted. Even if you have a fully verified Bitstamp account, they will still delay certain transactions and refer them for in-depth querying.

Good EU based BTC exchanges are compliant exchanges and will do the same checks and vetting of transactions. They will also review and look into your KYC credentials when large fiat and coin movements are detected and flagged by their system.

Based on the experience of several here who encountered the same issues, Bitstamp will likely give you the silent treatment while they investigate or check the funds. Your patience will be tested. They don't reply  for days and weeks at end while they do these checks.
