Dumb question. How do I check the version of my controller? I've just got one from parallel miner and it might be the latest version already.

I see "OpenWrt Designated Driver 50019 / LuCI trunk-38010-g851a890647 Release (git-17.114.43691-ffc1d59)" in the initial page of the controller but am not sure how to read this.

Is there a Pi version requirement?

Yes.

Does anyone have a link to the controller image?  I don't even see the controller images for the previous ones in github unless I am missing something.

I realize that the controller is a Pi but can I use any old Pi as long as I have the SD image from canaan?  Or is there something special about their Pi?  Is there a Pi version requirement?

I have a number of old Pi's sitting around, just wondering if I can repurpose one and save money on a controller.

One thing you can do is to download the image you think you want, and then try it out on one of you Pi's. You don't need to have the Avalon connected, not even the little USB dongle. Some things won't work right, but you can most certainly get into the Wed based GUI just fine and configure stuff as you want. I found this particularly convenient to do away from the miner, before my A6 had even arrived. Assuming that all boots and runs OK, you shouldn't run into any problems when actually connected to the miner itself.

You don't need their Pi, just their SD Card image.

Hi Flying Hellfish,

Fair point, although the wording is wanting.  I have deleted the post.  Please understand I wasn't trying to hijack or sidetrack the thread.  I see this thread as a group of people talking about Blokforge and about the batches released from them.  My goal was to be a fair person trying to help the community without any profit by providing an option to get in on the Blokforge release.  I apologize to anyone who thought my post was inappropriate.

Regards,
Matt

shame you jumped ship..  mining has never been a get rich quick play.  It is more like buying stock in that you MAY get lucky and have great timing and go to the moon like some did this year but lots of times it is just a good way to convert your cash to bitcoin and hodl for a year or so

the biggest worry on mining is getting good hardware at a decent price... Blokforge looks like they are doing the right things to bring good vibes back into the mining community

Verified Bernie Bro - Feel The Bern!

I just asked Blokforge if I can cancel my pre-order and what fees, if any, would be charged.  If Blokforge agrees to cancel my order without penalty, there will be one more first batch 821 available.

Nick at Blokforge got back to and agreed to cancel my Avalon 821 first batch pre-order for a 10% fee ($355). On principle, I could never pay such a fee to stop an order that has not shipped.  So I have put it up on eBay at

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F232638317514

However, if any forum member wants the unit, I will sell it for my cost plus any accrued transaction fees.  Depending on how you would like to complete the transaction, the transaction fees vary.

If you would like to use coins (BTC, BCH, ETH, and LTC accepted) then the cost is $3580 (the forum price plus the $30 for my original wire transfer) plus shipping
If you would like to use PayPal there is an extra 3% for the transaction fee so $3687 plus shipping
If you would like to use ebay there is an extra $250 on top of the PayPal so the cost is $3937 plus shipping.

I live in Iowa and will only ship to within the US. The options for shipping are:
Overnight - $150
2 Day - $75
Ground - $30

If interested, send me an email at [email protected]

Thanks,
Matt

A forum member has reached out to me and the miner is sold pending payment verification.

Thanks,
Matt

The forum member backed out after talking to his or her partner and now the unit is available again.

Regards,
Matt

Kind of a douchey move to try and jack the thread to sell your unwanted gear...

You should think about deleting and making a post in the marketplace.

LTC, wow thats awesome! That will come in handy in March when the next batch of 821's come out. I bought some LTC at 22.50 when they first put it on Coinbase, and mined some more along the way. Perfect way to spend it!

Yes, Mr. Frodo...  all work and no play.

But back on Topic.  Nick, would you contemplate vile non Bitcoin like XMR for payment?  If not I have to begin some kind of conversion.

As a one time payment, possibly we can accept it, cant add it to the site, much is involved with cart integrations, rather not get yelled at if any new issues with different integration.  We offer litecoin and bch, only had one btc payment ever, and no bch payments event though had tons of requests.

Mr. GreenJeans and Capt. Kangaroo were the best.

And I still have no clue what a pog is.

Google "Milk Pog"
