That was good. So cool to know that you were did Bitcoin transaction for the first time with your friend. I imagine that your friend is so thankful that you are his friend. That was a bonus points for having a good friend. Good friend is hard to find because some may always take advantage the other. But in your case, both of you are in common denominator of being beneficial to bothbin times of circumstances.

yesterday I read that buying a Tesla car can use bitcoin and atm bitcoin is already in big cities now buying vitamins can with bitcoin proves that bitcoin is advancing in the real world yesterday bitcoin is only limited to digital currency and is not accepted in the real world and some even claim bitcoin banned in some countries maybe in the future bitcoin will be accepted in all countries.
Buying a Tesla with Bitcoin is supposedly a thing, I wonder who will ever buy one with BTC though, so are the ATMs, they have started popping up in every corner, even in smaller countries. However, OP here is mentioning that the seller of the vitamins was a friend, otherwise he wouldn't have bought them with Bitcoin.

We are not even close to having BTC as a payment processor, due to its fees and its high value.

Congratulations! This is good experience. Could you say what wallets do you use? I suppose most people here are dreaming about zero fees too.

We should put bitcoin in more practical uses, we should also know how to effectively make it grow and boost its adoption.

There are times that bitcoin should really be used in that way because it is a currency.

It is not only a store of value but also it can be use as a payment tool in transactions. There are countries who already use bitcoin in buying cars, houses, and other goods/products. If we keep on using it by that then it can probably become normal and people will also invest on it. There are a lot of opportunity and bitcoin and it also has a lot of uses that we can benefit with.

now it's easier to use bitcoin as a means of payment because I've used it to buy some of my household needs. at this time there are very many bitcoin users so everyone already believes if we buy something with bitcoin. we are already in a world that will use all the most sophisticated technologies.
some online marketplaces already use bitcoin as payment. I feel the convenience of buying and selling transactions in major stores in my country.

No fees at all because we are using the same custodial wallet that is regulated by the central bank and the government. Unless if we are using a decentralized wallet, or I use a different wallet than his, of course there are transaction fees in play. I hope this clears up for you mate.
So you store your money on an exchange? I don't think that's a good idea. Unless you're fine with the risk and not store a lot of money, since centralized entity is prone to hack.

There is nothing wrong with storing a small amount of Bitcoin in a third party platform as long as it is actively being used.  I also do this kind of stuff and it is a huge discount to escape a blockchain transaction fee when paying someone using the same custodial wallet.  It also saves me a lot of time for travels and lining up to pay bills.

If your friend is new to Bitcoin, I think you should tell him about this.

I agree on this but as a starter using a custodial wallet is simply easier than installing the original BTC wallet but yes, we should also remind our friends about the risk involve in using this third party platforms.

For several years, I have been maintaining my overall well-being by taking US-made vitamins with the same brand since late 2013. I usually order them both offline and online, either paying it through cash, bank transfer or debit card. Until now, I am still a proud user of it. It really helped managed my anxiety and panic attack symptoms, as well as better sleep quality, extra stamina during the day, better metabolism, etc.

But I stopped ordering online for 2 years. In order to save me some shipping fees, I have decided to order it from a good friend who is a licensed distributor of the vitamins product.

One day, I realized that my stocks are almost running out. So I called him to meet me to get my vitamins. My friend already have a Bitcoin wallet, but never really used it. So I asked him if he liked to be paid by Bitcoin this time, and he eventually said yes.

So I just scanned his QR code and paid him the amount (there was zero fee because of using the same wallet). And there you have it, my first Bitcoin peer to peer transaction with my friend for the vitamins.

My good friend is happy, and he doesn’t mind me to use Bitcoin again to transact with him. I don’t mind how long will BTC be massively adopted, at least it’s good to spread awareness and advocacy about it.

This is how the future will look alike when we see everything being bought and sold with bitcoin. Money will be measured in bitcoin and no more in dollars or fiat currencies. The another good thing is that with bitcoin, we have full control over the money. We can send to anyone anytime without any third party like banks.

That is an easy way how to use bitcoin in society, and you did that with the seller. If more people can transact and using crypto (not just use bitcoin), that will make the adoption will continue and people will realize what bitcoin can do to them. Maybe what their concern now will be the fees for the transaction itself and maybe they can use the other coins to buy what they want.

The government needs to know about that, so they can support crypto as the new payment besides using fiat money. That can also give a chance for people to select whatever payment method that fit them.

Interesting theme! For the first time I heard about buying smoothies with Bitcoin. It seems difficult to do because the price of a very small smoothie and a bitcoin price is very large. However, in my country, people still use cash. Bitcoin is not banned but also does not encourage use. Bitcoin is only for enrichment investors not used in daily payment and shopping.
it may be very hard to believe in buying something with bitcoin if the price purchased is too small, it will be difficult for the payee. and also buyers will be lazy to do it because the fee may be greater than what is spent. so it is not right to do something disproportionate because it will create new difficulties.

I think that every country will implement regulations that are adapted to the state of the country, which can anticipate it with clear rules and can protect it so that the country is also not affected by problems that can actually complicate things. But if the state just doesn't recognize it as a legitimate exchange it is still natural because maybe others can still be done, so that crypto enthusiasts can still do something.

This is a very interesting topic, but in countries where Bitcoin is directly or indirectly approved by the government and their central bank, only all types of products can be bought by Bitcoin cryptocurrency.  Cryptocurrency is completely illegal in our country so we can't buy our daily necessities through bitcoin

One of the benefits that Bitcoin could give but i do presume out on using the same custodial wallet because it does have zero fees which is mostly talking about internal transactions.

Just always remember that its not ideal to store up some coins on a custodial wallet since you dont possess the keys so it isnt really your coins after all if the exchange get hacked.

Side note, adoption is on the move and we do go further as the years passed by and we would be expecting lots of merchants will really be accepting crypto payments.

Although its good that you paid in bitcoin but can you tell us how much was the amount send in bitcoin for the vitamins ?
I am not discouraging you to use bitcoin to purchase of goods/medicines but since you know that bitcoin price is increasing every day, it will be good for you if you keep using fiat for these small purchases and keep the bitcoin save for future.

It starts with a question. Most of us don't know how well we could potentially trigger people into this. Maybe he accepted it because you are his friend.

So I just scanned his QR code and paid him the amount (there was zero fee because of using the same wallet). And there you have it, my first Bitcoin peer to peer transaction with my friend for the vitamins.
I was really looking out for this part of the story, and surprisingly, you say there was zero fee. What wallet is that? Information like this can be very helpful as one of the reasons people don't use Bitcoin is the high transaction fee.

My good friend is happy, and he doesn’t mind me to use Bitcoin again to transact with him. I don’t mind how long will BTC be massively adopted, at least it’s good to spread awareness and advocacy about it.

True! It may take time for full adoption (if they'll ever be), but it won't stop people from using it already. Just spread the word at your own convenience.

I am very happy to hear stories from members of this forum that they are using Bitcoin as payment like fiat, that's really cool in my opinion.
Actually, I have wanted to do it for a long time, but I am constrained by government regulations in my country, which does prohibit using
Bitcoin as payment. It's the thing that makes me sad, but I hope that some countries that prohibit Bitcoin from being used as payment can open
their minds more, and started accepting Bitcoin as payment. I believe it can happen in the future, I just need to be patient just waiting for it.

It's an interesting position that you can actually spend your BTC locally, I've never encountered this here to be honest. However, I wouldn't use them anymore, due to its high value, I'm sort of comparing it with a valuable asset like gold. Furthermore, I actually kind of regret spending Bitcoin as a form of payment in the past.
In my opinion, as long as I can make purchases using fiat, why should I use bitcoin which is actually much more profitable as a very valuable asset which in my opinion exceeds gold at this time.
and other reasons in the country where I live, bitcoin can only be used as an asset or investment and is not allowed or not available as an alternative payment method, except for conducting transactions in secret.
and I will only use bitcoin as a transaction if it is legal and available in shops and others in the country where I live.
and for now it will only benefit those who sell bitcoin using bitcoin and of course those who receive it will save it for resale when the price goes up.
That's my point, if I can buy it with Euros or whatever, what's the point of spending something so valuable like Bitcoin? I view it like you're paying with a fraction of gold. Would you want to do that? I wouldn't, but that's my choice.

It is great that you have made a move to be able to make your friend make use of his Bitcoin wallet that seems to be having no transactions yet. It is also a mind opening scenario that will let him understand that he can be able to make transactions online having the same objective by just adapting into using Bitcoin as a mode of payment instead of the usual one. Your friend is a kind of open minded allowing himself to agree that payment will be in terms of Bitcoin. Well, purchasing of vitamins and other commodities are not already new because there are already merchants who accept Bitcoin as mode of payment but still they seems to be rare on some places depending on demand. If this will continue that merchants will allow Bitcoin payment as well as people paying through it, we can see that the usage and adaption will rise as people realize they can do transactions seamless and fast with Bitcoin.

Everything has been made possible for the adoption of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is now the most talked about topic in all fields due to the unpredictable rise in the price of Bitcoin and the promotions of various reputed companies. I would like to thank Tesla, MicroStrategy and PayPal for the adoption of Bitcoin. Thanks to their campaign and event, Bitcoin is now more popular with the public. I think all payments can be made in Bitcoin at some point in the future, and the use of Bitcoin in our daily lives will increase even more.

I never do that honestly since there is no merchant who accept bitcoin as mean of payment in my country also government ban against bitcoin has made many people afraid to using it.

Hopefully, you will continue using bitcoin to buy your vitamin or even all stuff that you will buy since your country is free to use bitcoin as a payment system. Yeah, maybe there are only a few countries that allow people to use bitcoin as payment.

And I just wondering, how much is the fee for one transaction? Is it still within normal limits like you pay using a bank system? Bitcoin is in the top position, there are so many adoption from instutional investor also it can be accompanied with adoption as mean of payment system.

I really like your idea by paying for goods using bitcoin, also the seller (your friend) will be so happy because the amount would have appreciated by now. But commentimg the transaction fee is free can be misleading. Making use of noncustododial wallet will demand for transaction fee even if you and the seller is using the same type of wallet, the fee is an amount paid to miners to make the transaction to get confirmed. But, making use of custodial wallet in which you are sending the bitcoin to someone using the same type of custodial wallet, very possible the transfer is free, because you only send a number from your account to another user, no miner is involved, and this depends on the custodial wallet you are using, some might still even demand for fee, but which may be very low if compared to number fee paid to miners during transaction.

I will not recommend people to make use of custodial service if they want to have privacy, they should go for noncustodial wallet. If thinking the fee that will be paid is too high because of high amount of fee for bitcoin transaction, he can try and manipulate with bitcoin lightning network for low fee. Bluewallet and electrum are both recommended as lightning wallet.

True that. Custodial wallets and services often give some enticing benefits and perks like fee-less transactions for users using the same type of wallet. The way I see it, they used the same custodial wallet because it would be much more easier to move the funds and go further to convert it to fiat especially for his friend who sells the vitamins. Although custodial wallets may have several added benefits, it doesn't change the fact that using such wallets/services essentially means that we have transferred control back to the wallet provider. Custodial vs Non custodial ~ each to their own.
