Can I know the actual problem with S9 firmware? If it's only cgminer version can't you simply replace it with a self-compiled version? What are you looking for? I don't have one, so I'm asking to understand the issue with it.

Yes thats what needs to be made.. It needs most likely a driver that will control the hashboards that wont come with just a simple copy/replace of bmminer with cgminer.> We need software that will control s9 .  even a complete update of beagle bone would be great.. would be really cool if you could flash minera to the s9 and run it from that.   Thanks Michelem for looking at this for me.  Really appreciate it.

Firstly Bitmain broke the license of Cgminer. Secondly we have absolutely no control of what the miners are doing with the hash, it looks like by the first statistics that the BMminer is the worst performing miningsoftware. We only have 14 days statistics,  and out of 5 miner versions like, 4.9.2, 4.8.0, Nichash, and others BMminer comes in last and that's with the dobbelt amount of hash comparring to 4.9.2… mind blowing.
We purely want the control back of our miners and do not want Bitmain to hide whats inside the code as they do. It's a destruction of the ecosystem..
Last, no you can't replace BMminer with CGminer as long as Bitmain has decided to make the BMminer NON open source..

If this gets off the ground I will offer free escrow for the bounty.

I have shown I can handle a large amount safely  well  50 btc in one case.
here was a large amount of coins I did safely. these are the avalon 6 group buys

Thanks for your help. Will gladly take this offer from you 👍

After we do the vote  August 12th .

I can setup a btc addy to show funds exist.

Sounds great Phil..that way we can at least present Kano or whoever can do this an amount we are willing to spend on this. If someone reading this can do this and would like to present an amount we need to come up with that would be great aswell.

Thanks again Phil for handling the escrow.  Really looking forward to seeing this get off the ground.  would like to eliminate all possibility of faulty code in our miner. Closed source is not the route the btc community would like to take.  Closed source is against this entirely.   I think know this is in our best interest as miners.

Great Philipma1957  Wink
Looks like more an more people do dislike the way Bitmain has treated the Cgminer license and kept us all out in dark about what the heck is going on inside BMminer v1.0
I hope very soon im able to post statistics about the performance of BMminer or lack of it.

Plan is to make a complete firmware update that replaces the BMminer with Cgminer 4.9.2, so no need of doing anything after update or reboot.
I just want to get rid of the BMminer.

im in for .25 btc or 175$ usd max.   Would be great if its a firmware upgrade but im ok with copying some files to s9 so long as they stay on reboot.. dont want to have to deal with that all over again. And those with huge farms cant even consider it.

Thanks for starting this.. I didnt want to start a duplicate thread and havent had time yet to search for one.   What urks me is im sure bitmain(with alt account no less) will come to this thread and say sure . ill supply you with the upgrade lol.. Be nice if ck or kano would do it.. Would much rather support them.  But if anyone can come with a fix "beggars cant be choosers"!  Ill have these machines for quite some time.. Soon as avalon comes with new machine ill be jumping to them!

I would gladly pull 300,-$ up from my savings to teach Bitmain a lesson. No doubt they make good miners, but you do not mess with one of the concepts of Bitcoin and mining.

I do not own any Bitmain miners as I refuse to endorse or support a manufacturer who knowingly breaks the Open Source GPLv3 licensing agreement for their own personal monetary gain.  The cgminer devs have worked tirelessly & for free to give the mining community the best, safest & most powerful miner available.

It is criminal that Bitmain continue to use/copy the cgminer code while refusing to release the changes made as required by the Open Source GPLv3 license terms.

I would gladly donate. Then I might even buy one. A legit one.

I would be willing to pay $100 also and I do not even have an S9 yet. I would order one if the firmware was changed to allow CGminer 4.9.2 to work.

Bitmain has been cruel to the CGminer license and made their BMminer without confronting either KANO or CK about the license. Talk has been flowing around about getting CGminer 4.9.2 to replace the BMminer on the S9`s and get full controll of your miners once again.
This poll is to see how big the backup could be to make an bounty for some very skilled people to crack BMminer and replace it with CGminer 4.9.2.

Do make a comment of the size of the bounty for this job could be.

So vote yes, if you are in for a bounty and would contribute with some hard earned BTC.
Vote no if you do not care and find the BMminer ok.

And no, i'm not native English ;-) so I excuse for spelling error`s .
