His number 1 argument is that there are not $250 million on the line (which I think for the majority, it's really absurd to hear that kind of money being on the line in this fight). And that the Ambani is doing it for India for tourism Huh

He also had a good point wherein if India wanted to promote a boxing fight, then get the best boxers, simply as that.

The rumor appears to have been started by a Michael Benson parody account.

It is obviously fake news. This is supposed to be McGregor’s purse alone, but that is more money than what Usyk and Fury made combined in their rematch. For that kind of money you could do a lot better than a washed up MMA fighter and a mediocre YouTuber. You could make Canelo vs. Jake Paul for that amount and that would be a much bigger event. It would still be a circus fight but it would generate a lot of interest from people wanting to see Jake knocked out.

Yes, and that is the big question though, that is a big amount that we haven't seen in a pure boxing match, even Usyk or Fury could only imagine that they will be paid by that kind of money. And I do agree with that kind of purse, they could easily set up a great boxing fan.

So in this fight it could generate a lot of interest, but I still can't fathom why the Ambani are willing to pay this two such big money.

Tourism in India? Wherein they are not known to be a boxing nation? Would they watch this fight or have they even heard of Conor or Logan Paul before?

So, you’re saying they’re just inflating the numbers to grab everyone’s attention? Well, if that’s not true, how would they handle the taxes when the government expects them to declare that amount? And if they report a lower amount, their reputation could be affected.

I really don’t get why they would lie for publicity. There are so many complications that come with that, such as tax issues, credibility problems, and more. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Connor not been KO'd but with the experience Jake made and he makes fights happen, I'm sure he could fight a real fight. It wouldn't be surprising if another media will say this is a pro record again like how they did with Mike to hype this match. But in the end, its always Jake who will win. He helped fund this fight.
You’re mistaken - Conor isn’t fighting Jake Paul; he’s set to face Jake’s older brother, Logan Paul. Logan hasn’t been as dominant as Jake, and his record proves it. If you check BoxRec, you’ll see that Logan hasn’t tallied a single win yet. https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/896698

I had it Jake to be the first to make fights happen. He is the dude to go with his platform for hyping unreal fights. But Paul? I doubt he'd win or even get that much money fighting in a country where people are not willing to watch boxing. All the signs point to madness.

And now I also see the news about KSI instead because Paul may not be able to make it. Conor really deserves to go out and forget fighting for real. He already made Millions, he should live a life.

Now Logan Paul is hinting that he won’t be able to properly train for this fight due to his WWE commitments so they’re floating the idea of KSI taking his place and fighting McGregor. I think Logan knows he’s too slow to win and wants out already. KSI and Conor is a weak fight if you ask me. I knew this wouldn’t happen….

I think Connor has lost all respect as an MMA fighter now, his career is over, he’s finished. He hasn’t won a UFC fight for 5 years. He’s done so well with his Whisky, endorsements and other ventures so I guess his motivation to train hard and compete again is just not there.

I respect the money he will make from this charade with Logan Paul but that’s all it is. The Paul beothers are not real fighters, they are very successful in what they do but they are not real fighters.

Of course, this is a interesting match, both knows how to promote the fight thru trash talking and antics during the press conference. I'm seeing Conor attacking Logan's lack of experience here as compare to himself which has been in the Octagon and with a lot of experience under his belt.
Conor can handle the marketing with minimal effort yet make a huge impact because people already know him, his badass attitude in MMA and his hit movie, where he plays the same badass persona, keep him in the spotlight. He's everywhere, and people love watching him. That’s why the promoters offered such a massive payout for this fight. It’s guaranteed to be a blockbuster, especially in a country with the largest population - India.

That's where McGregor is good in promoting his fights that's why his every fight in UFC is record breaking. And then his fight with Floyd is a record too just behind Floyd and Manny. So he is a bankable star because of this loud mouth and fans love him for that.

That's why even if he makes a comeback in UFC after missing several years, he could still make a lot of money as fans are willing to watch him. That's why we are not surprised about his massive payout here as the backer of this fight can also profited big from him as he is a cash cow and a magnet.

The payout is massive again. I think this time there is even more interest in this match up because
of McGregors recent conviction for sexual assault. He does garner a love/hate relationship from
fans and the general public. Fans want to see him success and with the general public there is a large
cohort who want to see him get beaten.

Hi is currently underdog with Paul proving slight favourite, IMO its really hard to pick a winner, McGregor
is "old" but as has been mentioned he is a fighter. Reading other social media a lot of people have
the Irish man to win big time.
It's just weird to see Conor as a underdog against Logan Paul. I think Conor still has the experience even if this is boxing as he has a good stand up and he I would say is above striker during his UFC stint as he knockout a lot of his opponents with his left hand.

Yeah, I think fans have this sort of love and hate relationship because of his attitude towards inside and outside the ring. And that's what makes him sell fights with such controversies that he involved himself just like what you describe regarding his sexual assault case.

It is odd to see McGregor as underdog but this is boxing and I suppose a lot of people are transposing
his dominance in the Octagon to the Square. He might very well be quite a good boxer but arguably he
was a by far better "boxer" than any of his UFC opponents. Now Paul isnt a boxer either, as in its not his
first discipline, so who is the better non-boxer boxer? obviously the majority of people are favouring Paul,
this is probably based on his age v McGregor who is probably look at now as a veteran.

But also as is reflected in the odds, its very close with arguments for both fighters.

Its a BS fight Cheesy I dont understand the world that when it is ready to pay millions for a fight like that. A used to be huge start, but now a guy who is more involved in scandals and problems than in sport vs blogger, energy drink business owner and a guy who pumps his body as a preparation for a boxing fight against speedy boxer Cheesy A freak fight when a heavyweight bull will smash like a train Irish drunky Cheesy

Everyone has a different taste in entertainment. If this fight doesn’t satisfy you, you’re free to ignore it. But we can’t deny the fact that promoters are willing to pay such huge amounts of money, which pretty much guarantees they’ll make even more. This reflects the current taste of fans, exhibition fights have become the new trend, so this is a challegen for Pro fights that they need to step up and deliver big matchups to stay on top.
I am with you on this, the world of boxing is changing gradually whether anyone likes it or not and it mustn't be your favourite fighters or the top-rated ones before it is hyped or splashed with a huge amount of money. The publicity and the brains behind it matter and if this fight could push through where McGregor gets a whopping $250m and Logan Paul also pockets the same amount, then the bigger fighters need to step up their publicity and pay. This will push boxing to the next level and make it hold the title of the sport with the highest single deal amount.

If this fight takes place, it will attract attention precisely because McGregor will be participating. Maybe he hasn't fought for a long time and now he is not as good as he used to be, but he is a professional fighter and will fight a blogger, so he should win. But for me there will not be much interest in this fight, I understand that McGregor is forced to agree to such a fight because he does not have other more profitable offers.

Logan is so much heavier than Conor

Conor definitely the better fighter but im inclined to believe its gonna be an even fight due to the weight difference and Conors stamina
I think they’ll definitely have a weight limit to follow; otherwise, the fight wouldn’t be evenly matched since one fighter could be much bigger and heavier than the other. I haven’t seen the exact rules for this exhibition fight yet, but to keep it exciting and fair, there should be clear rules in place.

Interestingly, both boxers have faced Mayweather before, so there shouldn’t be any issue with them fighting each other now.
It could actually turn out to be quite an entertaining match..  What do you think?

Yes, for sure there will be weight limit for this fight, or they could meet in the middle, like a catch weight or something so that they can go. So I do not think that this is going to be a big problem from either as they are athletes and they could hire professional to help them diet to reach the desired weight class.

Of course, this is a interesting match, both knows how to promote the fight thru trash talking and antics during the press conference. I'm seeing Conor attacking Logan's lack of experience here as compare to himself which has been in the Octagon and with a lot of experience under his belt.

Damn, $250M each for an exhibition fight! I'm already amazed at how they are going to get this much money. Even Turki of Saudi will not spend this much for a real fight of the biggest boxing stars. It's very surprising to see how much they give attention to these two when Connor is already washed. There must be something happening besides all this noise.

I would think their promotion is really up there in India along with US and UK Army to find ways to make war against China in their borders.  Grin

There is more to the story about the money though. This 250 million $ number is not for the fight, I think the fight "only" pays like 100 million for each fighter. The rest of the purse is for both guys to promote India as an ambassador for the next 10 years or so.
Obviously, these are ridiculous numbers no matter what. I mean it's an obvious rigged fight, yet again. Hopefully with this purse Logan will finally do the right thing and reimburse the victims of his "crypto zoo" scam. They have been waiting forever and the promised (partial) refund still hasn't happened. What a douche!!  Roll Eyes

But according to what has been written in this article .

Quote
According to The Mac Life, McGregor is set to make a whopping $250 million for his efforts. Paul’s expected purse wasn’t mentioned, but it’s reasonable to assume it’s in the same ballpark.

You can read the full article here https://www.forbes.com/sites/brianmazique/2024/12/30/conor-mcgregor-vs-logan-paul-massive-payouts-new-details-revealed/

There are some information that Logan Paul might receive the same and that's huge money to be paid on both of them that's why I would expect this fight would really happen since its a win win fight for both of them.

Maybe he push to make this fight to happen since if he get that money, maybe he can used it to refunds those people got affected on his scam project.

Yes,  A rich Indian family sponsored the match, not sure what caused this man to do this but the game in geopolitics can sense more wrong on how he snapped all of sudden as if he was extorted to do this. But then whatever the purpose is, the world needs to see good entertainment while the war burns a lot of cities around the world.

Connor not been KO'd but with the experience Jake made and he makes fights happen, I'm sure he could fight a real fight. But that was Mayweather. This is Logan, who isn’t even a good boxer based on his record, and I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a close fight, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Conor pulls off a big win here.

An undefeated boxing legend , and the other one is a YouTuber-turned-pro boxer -....  Cheesy
Honestly, Conor had a smoother transition since MMA and boxing are closely related, and he’d been fighting for years, so it wasn’t entirely new to him.
I can’t wait for this fight..  I just hope it doesn’t get canceled, so we can finally see if Logan is as overrated as some people believe.
