The community should chip in to pay a security company to protect him and keep reporters away. Satoshi deserves to live in peace.
An old man in his 60's who's had a stroke and takes care of his 93 year old mother deserves to live in peace, regardless of anything. It's so disgusting they are harrassing this man.

This. Indeed.

So, what do we do with the found IP then? Satoshi Nakamoto MUST BE in LA...

You're dumb beyond help if you think IP trace can be reliable.

It was a dynamic ip in LA of a company providing DSL or Leased Lines, means he had to have direct access to a system.
Either he is a hacker which got access OR he did it from home.
This is not a ToR node address as well, I checked (and bitcoin did not support tor at that moment).

Thanks for confirming my suspect.... you're beyond help. Go back to 2000 and relearn internet.

Stop spreading FUD, this is real IP I got from debug.log. And the data I provided is real. The IP is dynamic of Megapath now then other Californian provider and it can't be 'fake' unless Hal replaced it in the log (which he obviously did not, log is unaltered). It's browsing history says it was in LA (Maxmind geoip db).

Whos talking about fake IP? and what the heck is a fake IP? Are you that dumb? Please stop posting until you understand what IP address mean.

I know what IP address means. You know how it's Geo-IP'd? By data sent to ARIN. You know how usually providers set hostnames? By location.

Now read this h-68-164-57-219.lsan.ca.dynamic.megapath.net
Los Angeles, California

Now there's only two ways. Either this IP was a VPN terminator, or it was Satoshi. I claim latter.

OMG.... you're so right! Genius.....

tell me you think he just used his provider, and i will vote you the nominee for most retarded btcoiner award.

bitcoin v 0.1 used socks4 proxy, freenode they were using that time BANNED FOR OPEN PROXIES! (the log says about open proxy scanner)
there is NO evidence in the internet of host h-68-164-57-219.lsanca54.dynamic.covad.net or ip 68.164.57.219 used as proxy neither socks, nor being hacked EVER.

He either misspoke or the reporter heard him incorrectly.

Those are reasonable arguments, but what if he actually said it?

I find it impossible to believe this man was heavily involved in cypherpunks forum, coded in C++, wanted to bring about radical change to the whole global financial system and then sat down with model trains of an evening.

I know its lame to quote myself... but 'hackers' really love model trains...

Ode to Satoshi then ?

I am not Dorian Nakamoto.
Someone should setup a bitcoin address for this guy and his family people can donate too.  If he isn't the real creator, then he could probably use the money.

On the other hand, if he is the real Satoshi then he'll have some money he can spend without admitting that he is the actually the guy.

Heck the poor guy is going to need protection either way.

The community should chip in to pay a security company to protect him and keep reporters away. Satoshi deserves to live in peace.

People that say "Have you seen what this guy declared? The author of the article should get fired" surprise me. If he is the real Nakamoto, do you think he would say "Hey, you got me!" Of course he is denying! But this does not mean anything.

In any case, I think this story shows the beauty of the bitcoin protocol. Maybe he really is Satoshi Nakamoto, the bitcoin creator, but unless he confesses, nobody will ever know the truth and he can still spend all of his bitcoins without anyone being able to find the truth. There is no subpoena that can work, no investigation, nothing.

Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending
Wait, there's no aliens or black helicopters involved in the creation of Bitcoins? What will the gov't/bankster conspiracy nuts believe in now?

It's worst than that! Alex Jones may have to admit that Max Kaiser isn't Satoshi Nakamoto.

Alex Jones: It saddens me to report that I, Alex Jones, may have...
Max Kaiser: Don't be so hard on yourself, Alex.
