Update:

I've compiled (my new version of) the Linux wallet on Ubuntu (with mammix2's help), and even that needed some fiddling with config files.

I tried compiling my new Windows wallet but ran into some problems.  I think I can fix them if I start again though.

But first I'm going to recompile the Linux wallet with a new version of QT to fix this bug: https://github.com/rat4/blackcoin/issues/12

I'm on mint, so i'll try your ubuntu build.

Can anyone make a good .png image that is 96 pixels wide and 564 pixels tall, for the About box?  Look at the one that's there now, it's just a kind of black starfield.

Who made those wonderful Britcoin posters in the past?

Well, I wanted to fix the vulnerability I mentioned, which I could easily do in terms of the code.

Compilation requires libevent libs. It compiles and runs for me under ubuntu 15.04. Afaict, the only difference between britcoin classic and britcoin-tor is that in the latter, the tor aspect has been extended/emphasised and the irc-enabling code suppressed/removed. Otherwise, nothing's changed.

Thanks, I've got it now :8]  Linux compile is done.  Am yet to start Windows compile.  Will officially release when Windows compile is done.  Mac users will have to make their own way.

Mammix2, the dev of Boostcoin, has been helping me so far.  Please put something in his tip jar if you're feeling generous!  16N6vHaQ1wSEtDCzkCG1AGFwwoNm8V2b2A

Going forwards, I'd like to just be an occasional dev for Britcoin, helping out with important bugfixes or low-hanging fruit.  If I'm the only dev, there aren't likely to be any new features.

I'm a kind of PR guy for PiggyCoin but may move more towards development in that too.

So, it'd be good if there was a team around Britcoin.  I can show them what to do for the PR and show them how we make and sell PiggyCoin products.  Britcoin's a great brand and some Britcoin-branded products would be fun.

I'll help out.

I think the only way forward from here is for the coin holders to help out when they can.

Original dev has and is helping me compile.  Would be appreciated if there were more peers out there to connect to  Smiley

It's not a security vulnerability by the way, so please don't be afraid to run your wallet software.

Unfortunately, I can't even compile the coin.

The code in the /tor directory makes reference to an event.h file and event2 folder, which do not seem to exist in the repository.

Has anyone ever compiled this coin from source, besides the original developer?

Does anyone have the v2.1.0.0 source code or a link to it on Github?

Also, what actually was new in v2.1.0.0?

I UPLOAD IT HERE:

GITHUB: https://github.com/Brit-Coin/britcoin

Looking at Github, that is the original Britcoin, not Britcoin 2.0 or 2.1.

So, I found the 2.0 code on Github.  But will7am tells me he doesn't have the 2.1 code.

I think there will likely be some important network security fixes that need applying to this coin.  I'll do it if I get the chance but really I don't have time.

Just received this from Ken:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Britcoin is currently under a new phase of development and will be showcasing a complete revamp and mainstream strategy with the coming of the new year.

Best regards,

Ken

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not sure what to think but I'll be focusing on creating a new UK focused cryptocurrency for my project and not Britcoin but I wish you all the best of luck, I'll keep my eye on the Britcoin project.

So he's not dead then.

He's gonna have to come up with something good to make up for the disappearing act.

It would be nice if he could update us on what's going on.  Undecided

It would indeed.
