Just a few corrections: Bitcoin reached $19++ at the end of 2017. And it's lowest point in the last year or so is $3100-$3200. And obviously, bitcoin still dominates and remain the top cryptocurrency despite the bearish season extending for more than a year now.

It still the number 1 because its touted as a investment, store of value, although still not recognized as payment system, people can still used it to purchase things online.

If you will make a survey about the cryptocurrencies, you will gathered data that telling bitcoin is the only cryptocurrencies that they know. In my country, bitcoin is popular but they do not know the other cryptocurrencies and its functions. In terms of popularity, there is no cryptocurrencies that can surpass bitcoins.

Yes you are right. No cryptocurrency has so far been able to beat the bitcoin's record in value. In addition, it was from bitcoin that everything started and on its basis other cryptocurrencies began to be created. yes i agree of that because btc is most popular in crypto and safest in investment than to other coin. bitcoin is tested and proven by the people that can pump in the higher price..

There are many reasons why Bitcoin remains "the king of crypto":

It has the most proven and reviewed technology stack under its belt. As you might know, cryptography is very very complicated domain. It takes an enormous amount of resources (time and money) to develop a single algorithm, let along implementing the whole infrastructure based on it. People like to invest into proven and safe projects. And when you see how many new coin-related startups turns out to be vaporware, it becomes obvious why bitcoin is still the head of the train.
Network effect. The more companies incorporate bitcoin, the more improved bitcoin ecosystem becomes. New users help in finding new bugs, providing valuable feedbacks, and spreading the word around the world.
Tons of learning materials. There is no doubt that science the cryptocurrencies are based on is hard. For newcomers it's really important to get started from something very basic and understandable. And in case of Bitcoin there are more than enough guides and tutorials around the web which are sometimes available even for free.
Brand awareness. It's often an underestimated factor, but brand awareness plays one of the most important roles in product success. It was thoroughly researched and discussed for many years, and, as a result, key metrics which influence consumer decisions were determined. It's not even about the brand name, it's about human psychology and mind manipulation.

May I corrct your word and don't be offended bitcoin not become a king bitcoin to be exact bitcoin isking of crypto since cryptocurrency start.
That's I know since I start accepting bitcoin as currency, if please correct me if I am wrong very appreciated and yes i agree still bitcoin is the kiing and popular aming us.

A notable factor is "network effects". For altcoins with a small userbase, it has less use or application because there are fewer participants to transact with. The more people that use Bitcoin, the more utility it then has.

Yes, I agree. Bitcoin's still the most popular crypto investment and there will be no other coin that will surpass it. The chart for it is going sideways but it doesnt matter if you have been with it for years.

You'll know that it remains as the king and its position is on the top and so its price and value.
