There is now a position open for joining BTCD dev team!
You dont even have to know how to code!!

The pay is horrible (you have to beg for donations), hours probably a lot, but you will be a vital part in making BTCD as perfect as we can make it. We can put your handle (name and pic if you want) in the OP and website. Speaking of pics and names, it seems some peoples actually value that sort of thing, but with this being BitcoinDark, clearly being private is the primary thing. However, if you dont mind being associated with BTCD publicly, we can make an advisory committee of known peoples and feature you in the OP and website. You can have all the fame Smiley

We need somebody to manage the testing process, across all components. So, this means doing testing, coordinating others doing testing, making test plans, doing pre-release checklists, the works. So anybody with software QA assurance is big advantage. If not, then if you are able to make most any software break, then you are perfect.

I sure hope we have somebody to step up as I seem to end up doing stuff like this and while I can, I think it is better if I spend my time coding than managing test process. Anyway, it is not good to have the one that makes the bugs to find them, conflict of interest and all that.

Contact Azeh if you are interested in any of this.

James

P.S. You will have a fringe benefit of knowing exactly the release status as you will be the one to determine this.

some have mentioned a large number of rejected mined blocks
I think system clock synchronization could be an issue
ntp is what I use, but I do not know how to sync system clock in windows
If anybody knows, please post instructions, thanks

Windows 7 by default should be synching to a time server:

Click on the clock in your system tray
This will bring up the calendar and time
Click Change date and time settings...
The Date and Time dialog will appear
Click on the Internet Time tab
Click Change settings
The Internet Time Settings dialog will appear.

OK. What server you should enter?
0.pool.ntp.org
1.pool.ntp.org
2.pool.ntp.org
3.pool.ntp.org

Hi James,

Would you mind elaborating or letting know where i can find more information about teleport for other coins (NXT/BTC)?

How would it work? Could you add other second gen coins like Qora into the fix for example?
The only info is in my posts.
For teleport, I have the API with the following parameters:

NXT secret:
dest account (BTCD, NXT or BTC):
coin:
amount:
minimum block age for telepods:
M:
N:

Then in the jl777.conf file, you add an entry for your coin in the JSON:
{"name":"BTCD","useaddmultisig":1,"nohexout":1,"conf":"/home/root/.BitcoinDark/BitcoinDark.conf","asset":"11060861818140490423","txfee":0.0001,"NXTfee_equiv":0.1,"rpc":"127.0.0.1:14632","blockheight":16000,"forkblockheight":0,"minconfirms":13,"estblocktime":60,"tradebotfname":"BTCDteleportbot"},

Then assuming your coin has a tradebot named "BTCDteleportbot" then it will be called to perform the compatibility API implementation. Of course BTCD will have this support built in so there is no need for BTCDteleportbot. So, I will implement BTCD, BTC and NXT. Then once the compatibility API is defined, anybody can add support for a new coin without even changing BTCD core!

Of course, both sender and receiver need to have the teleportbot and .conf file entries for any coin that you want to teleport between each other. I would assume there will be an "official" set of teleportbots included with release and some place to get updated and experimental ones.

I would think that any dev familiar with a specific coin would be able to write a fully functioning teleportbot in a day, at least that is my goal. I apologize for lack of details in some areas, these are not things that I have finalized yet, but hopefully you can see what level of work is needed.

James

P.S. for those not familiar with tradebots, it is a Turing complete scripting system based on C that will be able to invoke the power features directly. Now each node runs its own set of tradebots, so this part is not actually decentralized, but I just "flashed" an idea on how to make tradebots act in a decentralized manner, curiously by synchronizing them.

The ability to make anonymous purchases using BTC and the anon card both sound like huge breakthroughs in crypto.

If all this groundbreaking tech is delivered, BitcoinDark could displace litecoin.

370791 BTC / 1180000 BTCD =

0.3142 BTC/BTCD

 Shocked

Edit:  Also realize, the PR/markting campaign hasn't even begun.  Once that happens....... well, you know!

Exactly. I love that the btcd team isn't doing any pr yet, just hard at work on the new features. No pr because they know they need to deliver first. We have a really first-rate coin on our hands. These prices are still paltry compared to what is to come.

Almost 11 btc to get back to .003!  BTCD hasn't even made any of these features reality yet, but they're coming soon.  If you want to buy more, just do it.  I was hung up on trying not to raise my average, but had to get over myself.  Folks who have yet to buy or even hear of bitcoin dark will envy those who picked up at these prices  Smiley

I've been hoping too, since about .002, a couple days ago.  Finally just had to say F it and buy more now, since we're not really moving down.  I still have lower orders, but I don't wanna be saying "Gee, I wish I'd bought at .003" when we're at .004, .005 and so on, up to who knows what price

I have been mining and trading, mainly trading now days, for a little over a year. I have to say the technology behind NXT coin and the GUI is awesome. I am quite impressed. I have used other bitcoin 2.0 tech before like Mastercoin and Counter Party to buy Maidsafe and Swarm but was never really impressed with the GUI. I just now got around to installing NXT after reading more about it in this BTCD thread.

Anyway, bravo! I am looking forward to seeing firsthand how NXT and BTCD integrate.
