there was a wagering contest in progress as well , I had 0 balance but was expecting a smallish leaderboard win , maybe 40-50k satoshi
the contest was about to end in 2-3 hour's time and then the site was taken down
will those be calculated and paid out or not?
not that I'm too concerned about it , but that would be the right thing to do
It doesn't seem they pay contest prizes and that's likely why they stopped the contest before it ends. Now the website is closed and there is no data regarding that contest. They conducted a contest to attract gamblers, after they found out the contest is useless, they closed it sooner to not pay winners.

I'm quite sure they paid the first few wagering contests as I won 2 times on the wagering contest although the amount was not much but I could withdraw my winning, the main question by veleten is the last contest which stopped before its end because the owner decided to close the site down. I also have wagered few thousands bits for the last contest but I'm not really sure if I would be on top 10 with my wagered amount for the last contest.
So kindly do not judge that they do not pay contest prizes if you do not even tried/joined it previously. Probably the best thing to do for OP is to reveal the last contest leaderboard, I have no balance anymore after I lost my winning from the previous contest to wager for the last contest.

Hi
We would like to announce that BTCDice.io has now closed.
We will focus our attention on different projects.

If anyone would like to buy the software and domain you can pm your offer.
Thanks

After you sell it, can you, please, share the price they paid here in this thread? Also it would be interesting to see some stats regarding monthly/weekly profits, average number of players online etc. I know, people rarely share such information, but if you will move to absolutely different business maybe you'll find it possible to share it with us. For known sites with big amounts wagered every day this info is more or less available, but it's hard to find anything about sites with around 20 players online.
I think because this info is classified its unlikely they will share the numbers here. It also make sense not to in order to not divulge the main issue with the failure of the project

Do you have access restrictions by countries? I can’t log in from my country and get error Error 522. I also wanted to ask you if you plan to block the possibility of investing in a bankroll in the future? In other casinos this happened.

site already closed down .

What?? Well, that was fast. Guess you really underestimated what it takes to be successful in this industry.

We didn't underestimate anything. The plan was not to grind away for 2 years to build a dice site.
The plan was to release an alternative at the right time that people could invest in considering there were a few sites like yolodice closing bankroll and bustabit changing commission structure.

It was the right time to launch but no one was making the switch so we closed and moved on. If people had switched then we would have focused on running the site long term.

We are willing to sell the software to people who do want to spend their time focusing on marketing and growing a successful dice site instead of code.

PM offers.

This is hilarious. You've spun up a barely passable dice site and expected everyone to flock to it, and are giving up after just a few weeks. Just hilarious, would love to know you IRL Cheesy

We can't really decide if it is too early for them to close or not for ourselves. After all there could have been many things that went wrong for them and that is why they closed.

The important part is, did they took the money they got from the gamblers and left with it or did they paid it back. That is what is important right now, I had zero money involved so I am not worried but if people had money in there, I don't even know when they started, only found out about this place after people started to say it got closed so I don't know if they were even opened yet or beyond the beta stage yet but if they were and got money from people and closed shop afterwards, we should figure out if people got paid or they got scammed, that is quite important.

I do not think they will just run away with players money because on last thing they still do the events running on before going offline. Beside, they are still announcing that they left the site politely so I think we will just wait for others to get their money back to each players. I just wait for others to make the withdrawal without any issue right now. Lets see if most of them can withdraw it successfully or not

Really sorry to read this : I think you gave up too early. Liked your site and as user have to say it was working smoothly. Rome wasn't built in a day and, even if the competition is really hard, I think with some proper marketing efforts you could have gained your market slice.
But maybe I ignore other aspects of running a dice site like expenses, time required and so on.
Hope you rethink about this but if not,  wish you good luck with your future projects.

It is too early indeed.
I have said previously, OP is a type of person who want instant result for his project while it is almost impossible these days because of the competition among other bitcoin gambling sites.
He want to have a success dice site but he is not patience enough to manage it. His next project may result the same with this one if he keep on being impatient, so he should change his mindset in managing his own project.

I don't think it is about patience or impatience , the decision to stop the project if he saw no way forward was correct
the problem was in the incorrect approach to promoting the site
I really like redsun's post - it describes the way a dice startup should be managed
its not only initial expenses into marketing  , but also sleepless nights and a lot of work
first 3 months are almost 100% going to be negative , especially if you have a look at the casinos that are direct competitors
most of them are 3-4-5 years old and have their own audience , for a new site it is VERY difficult to take a share of the pie and they need to offer something special or/and run
a long and expensive marketing campaign to establish the brand and show that they are here for long
the times when an admin could open a site , post an announcement and sit and wait for players to come and lose are long gone

Yeah, down for me as well. Running a casino is harder than what many people think, I have helped run a crypto casino before and I can tell you that its really not an easy task, it takes a lot to actually pull it off and not just money.

Of course, money is the most important task here, we hired developers and designers and basically spent 50k dollars even before the casino started, and since I live in a third world country that 50k dollars was a lot of money, by comparison a developers monthly salary was around 500 bucks.

After the website was done and we did closed beta with hundreds of people we knew online with fake money first than with real money we sent them to test, we saw that there was couple more bugs but nothing major so we fixed them up and decided to release. Then we did 10k worth of marketing both here and everywhere we could think of (the best return was freebitco.in), we didn't get that money back that quickly but we started to make a bit and we reinvested all of it to pay for the casino and for the marketing for a long time, hell we still spent money and were in negative for the first 2.5 months. After that we started to break even and then after a full year we were making a decent amount of profit.

Some legal stuff came up so we had to either spend millions of dollars to continue or close it, we had enough profits so we closed it. You have to really go into this thinking everything is super difficult and you would have to live and breathe your job for 5 months before you can even sleep properly.

This is a Shane but just goes to show that being dynamic in this chaotic crypto environment is fundamental to the successful run of a business. Anyways, having this experience is certainly helpful to succeed in the next business. Best of luck!!!

So the site is still down? I visited it around 6 hours ago while it was down, just checked it again now but still down. Is this site finally closing down because there is not much traffic after they offer daily wagering contest? It is just very unfortunate if the site is closing down too early just because unable to gain attraction from people in less than two week after the first contest. Hopefully I'm wrong, maybe the site is working on some improvement and will come back anytime soon.

Also down here

yep down and not a thing coming from admin in terms of information
the site went down yesterday when I wanted to check the contest results , thought it was Cloudflare acting up
but today it is still down , so I guess admin got disappointed in the project and decided to close it down
a note here saying : we are closing , or we are down for maintenance would have been appreciated though

Guess the admin thought he start up a site and would get 100s of users within a few weeks without any marketing. Only a topic here and a wager contest isn't enough to be visible for everyone.
