So you're saying that you're going to be trying to brute force private keys of Bitcoin addresses, but when you find a private key you'll just use it to sign a message with that key? So you can publish a message, "this address was wiped by buttcoins.com" and a signature that could only have been made by someone who knows the private key. Is that the plan?

So so so brilliant Dooglus.

Ya pretty much something like this.

Your site favicon is the same as mine Changed

Your gif is from my site in 2011 as well
http://www.buttcoinfoundation.org/why-should-i-invest-in-bitcoins  Added your URL under it cause I love the image.

Your logo is a rip from mine. It's absolutely unoriginal. Disagree strongly

So we all good in the hood?

I've also sent this to ya via PM.

If "we" are right, and it is impossible to brute force private keys, then you end up with nothing to show for your efforts. A bunch of people pay for your service, and you have to tell them "sorry, we tried, but found nothing". To the outsider that looks exactly the same as if you took their money and didn't do anything...

Just a science project.  Some times she goes and some times she doesn't.  My personal hypothesis is that the system doesn't find a live address on any of the coins listed on the site during my lifetime.

"We" very well may end up with nothing, but if "we" do get nothing people also earn the knowledge of "I feel fine with $50,000 invested in Bitcoin because once in college I blew like $1,000 trying to pwn BTC Tongue Shits impossible don't waste your time, but if you DO want to waste your time try Buttcoins.com they've been on the hunt for 40 years with 1/10th of Facebooks people!"

It's intend on being a positive thing and really help the average person understand how big and safe this system really is (myself included.)

Edit:

I ran a P2Pool once with Nix... I'm very used to answering people why they didn't get coins Tongue This one should be even easier!  (People who switch from a communist pool to a P2Pool and don't have their shit set up right)

I check like 50 sites and dont find any addy with coins.
OP can you tell us how much addies have coin's?

When the rich list is complete it will automatically let you know on the site.

It is just taking a little longer than planned.

You should call it "turd burgling" instead of "cloud wiping".

No, we are trying to sign addresses that aren't ours.

I mostly just wanted to use the term turd burglar since it amuses me in a childish kind of way.

It is an experiment to prove to the skeptics that Bitcoin and these other crypto currencies are strong because a large chunk of the world is proving it amazingly strong by taking a try at it.

So I guess I still don't really get it. You either prove that Bitcoin security sucks, or you have no way of proving you're doing anything at all.

So if you have the miner click "on" at the first of the month the system bills you, if you have the miner clicked off at the first then no billing.

Super super super simple with no contracts "wiping".

It sounds to me that this "cloud wiping" is really just brute-forcing private keys; effectively you're trying to steal coins from other peoples' butts.

It is an experiment to prove to the skeptics that Bitcoin and these other crypto currencies are strong because a large chunk of the world is proving it amazingly strong by taking a try at it.  I've heard countless security experts talk about this, but I've never seen one say "What I'm telling you is true and here is a simple ass way you can test it from home." That is what the service is "filling" per say.

This system will just give the "normal" person a chance to take a shot at it.

I consider myself a normal person and primarily the project is being built for me and then anyone else who would like to participate can.

How fucking sweet would it be to sign a Satoshi address due to like a "pool lottery" hunting for a thing that appears to be impossible!  Kind of like a treasure hunt and maybe people in the future will put bounties for signatures on addresses Tongue!!  Who knows how it goes.

(I was and still sorta am thinking about giving people access to their miners through our network.  If they did find something and steal something that would be on them... not sure how it is going to be done yet, but really if the strength is there in the system + the user is using the system properly this server should NEVER find a address.)

I trust myself not to steal anything we sign, but like I said... I'm still considering giving people the info that they paid for.  I can't say the rest of the world is as nice as myself.

Still long down the road though as well!

Edit:

There has to be some type of law in BTC for squatters. So say if we did find a BTC address we could publicly post in places for 36mo looking for the owner and then after that it belongs to us.

They have real estate laws like this as well.

What if we stumble across someone who lost access to whatever wallet we found and forgot about Bitcoin.... are we still Turd stealers then or how could we do it where we didn't appear that way to the public?

But you are SO WRONG BAC!! Buttcoiners cry WITH THEIR BUTT!! A little hard to draw maybe but still!

AND I WANT THAT CLOUD WIPING! What ever it is lol it sounds fun!

Easier than you'd think! South Park as a great episode.

"Buttcoin is a peer-to-peer butt. Peer-to-peer means that no central authority issues new butts or tracks butts. These tasks are managed collectively by the network. It’s like a bitcoin, but with butts instead."
Not like Bitcoin at all if I can use the fucking Buttcoin img on a Buttcoin project!

Is what's going on with the site your final project or are you going to do something else with it?

More! It is a cool & special idea.  I actually am very good about coming up with my own shit and not just trying to make the same thing over and over... which is why it is a bit fucking rude of you to call me unimaginative.  It's cool.  Roll Eyes I just thought we could brand that beautiful image you made together.  Guess not Smiley

Cloud Wiping is coming along well.  We have some interesting methods that we are currently testing as to make sure the computer power is best used.

Wilco (the main developer of the project) has become busy with trying to set up a CLAM pool for another private client.  Honestly, everyone that I know / chat pool needs another CLAM pool option to help decentralize the network way more than a silly cloud wiper Cheesy.  This will be done though... to my understanding we already have all the guts and everything, but working on Marketing, keeping the cost affordable, fun and still productive in our experiment.

I want it to be super user friendly.

Edit:

Pushed post too soon. Still drawing.. will update
done

I just found one of my private keys on buttcoins.com. It's on page 22819940191606639116975694561815449148405524752991894461049828182848439406xx

Fill in the two missing digits and steal my coins. Smiley

Really?

Starting at page 600, the first exponent is: a67d92e70fd6e022b17178ff22269fc1bdf52048bbad1f366b7ab76cb37919d8
on page 699 the last exponent is a67d92e70fd6e022b17178ff22269fc1bdf52048bbad1f366b7ab76cb37926bb. Subtract them, and we have about 3300 keys to check.

So I've looped through, generated them all, import them into bitcoind: http://privatepaste.com/9513fa2a9f  and then run a full scan. It doesn't find anything Sad

Huh. You're the 3rd person to miss it already.

It's there, the exponent is between the two you mention.

No trickery.

And it's gone...

https://blockchain.info/address/1CaXjxFKxrMqRHC3mX3FX6ZJB2FuJ9MHCg was the address.

You imported the privkeys uncompressed. It was however in a wallet with compressed pubkey: https://blockchain.info/tx/6975f36ce09792ec82513dec0f535fc0f26e8b037d687e9067b298d13f517ddb

Thats a lot of addresses to check Cheesy

I narrowed it down to 100 pages from some stupidly massive number. And it's still too much work.

I don't know if I mentioned that it's a Bitcoin address, but it is. So that cuts the work by another factor of 4.

Narrowing it down to BTC only makes the task much simpler indeed!
This also shows how many addresses there are because going even through 100 pages is a rather taunting task. Especially when done by hand Smiley

If it helps, I can also tell you that the BTC at the address you're looking for is worth about $2. Smiley

I designed it for BayAreaCoins, It came straight from my imagination. The one request was the bitcoin colors =)

I had someone else design mine as well. Maybe I'm not as imaginative as I thought I was.

Give me a day to get that favi icon changed to our own... I don't do any work on the site, so I'll have to get a hold of the dude who can.  Sorry for the delay/early morning issues.

Yeah no worries.

Is what's going on with the site your final project or are you going to do something else with it? Just reading on what you posted in other threads

You sold your site to Butterfly Labs, who bought it so they could get rid of some critical reviews. Perhaps you got ripped off, but buttcoin.org is now Butterfly Labs, and they make a living.

Butterfly Labs used a front to buy the buttcoin.org website to remove negative reviews. Buttcoin.org shut down when the FTC seized their assets and I restarted the site ButtcoinFoundation.org to continue, although with my current workload it serves more as an archive than an active site. The twitter and subreddit are still pretty active.

You can read about the whole BFL/Buttcoin debacle here, I don't hide anything.
http://www.buttcoinfoundation.org/the-story-of-when-buttcoin-org-sold-out-and-how-butterfly-labs-turned-it-and-other-sites-into-a-marketing-machine

BFL owns other popular websites such as WeUseCoins.com too.
