If this is true, it will definite be on one of the reputable exchanges in the crypto space.
Does it also mean that there will not be any ICO, rather it will be sold directly on exchange

If this is an official statement then this could have got trended, but from the post I feel it to be an  statement revealed with data proof. Already with a big number of users it can make a big change over the entire cryptocurrency market. Possibly this will lead to a new level of adoption.

It looks like that soon will be possible  to buy FB coin on popular exchanges
FB want to launch his crypto in first half of 2019

According to reports from Bloomberg and later The New York Times, Facebook is building a digital payments system for WhatsApp, its end-to-end encrypted messaging app. It would let users send and receive cash without having to pay fees

The New York Times' report on Thursday provides a tentative timeline for when it could finally launch: The paper's sources say Facebook is aiming to launch something in the first half of 2019. The company has also reportedly talked to cryptocurrency exchanges, platforms where users can buy and sell digital currencies, about supporting Facebook's product.

I think it  will be best way to promote crypto currencies
For many people with zero knowledge cryptocurrency is kind of fraud or even criminal
Now thanks FB coin they will  most likely to learn what crypto currencies  really is
And we will have yet another stable coin that time with use cases

Facebook founder has mastered the art of quickly identifying key economic areas and decisions that will boost its wealth and if wechat works, then maybe a crypto for Facebook or WhatsApp will certainly work

It was high time for us to get some coin that other people who are far from crypto could trust. If a company like Facebook shows everyone that there is nothing wrong with crypto, it will help to scale the crypto currency. So I think it's good new.

You have a very confusing post, I thought they are already launched and selling their own cryptocurrency, nice link bait, they are just in the process of launching their own coin but there is still no concrete plan, they will do a huge marketing if they are going to do it, they already had a big platform with huge users.

It's very funny when the very people who claim that cryptocurrencies are bad and say all sort of negative comments about cryptocurrencies end up generating one. Example of such people are JP Morgan and the CEO of Facebook. Well let's see how they will roll out their various cryptocurrencies to be used on their platform.

This is indeed one of the moves that will help drive cryptocurrencies world to the next level. A giant firm like Facebook adopting blockchain technology and creating its own digital currency means a lot in this space . It will help to attain some stability because its currency will have a working use case that will adopted by millions of people all over the world . This is also a big publicity for cryptocurrencies at large which will make majority of people to learn more about it.

If people see Bitcoin as a scam or money of the criminals they in fact have some knowledge. They had to get this idea from somewhere and didn't do the research. Instead they were pumped full of lies by negative media and they believed it.
FB coin isn't progress. It's not a good way to promote cryptocurrencies. I doubt that it's even going to be a cryptocurrency. It's going to be a worthless token that fails and makes it look like all cryptocurrencies are useless and will die just like some shitcoins are dying every month.

IMHO this will remain only as a payment system, not a cryptocurrency. Even if they issued a stablecoin then it will hardly increase the demand in other cryptos.
It seems like facebook is going to make something like WeChat pay that is used everywhere in China.
So then there is no shocking event on this, it's just a dollar and not a cryptocurrency.

I was thinking that it could be another shit coin again, but no, I was completely wrong. And now I can clearly see that it is just a payment system for their apps mostly.

Facebook probably wanted it since they may be having a hard time to process the payment using a third parties system.

Even within altcoins, they'll have a hard time. But good luck to them, everyone is entitled to try, not that everyone will necessarily succeed...
You're saying that one of the biggest tech companies in the world, a company that has an userbase of +2 billion people, is going to have a hard time launching their cryptocurrency? Keep dreaming, success is pretty much guaranteed for this coin even before launch, and honestly, the entire altcoin market can only dream about reaching such levels of success and popularity.

It also acts as a proof of what you are posting. The thing you are saying involves highly reputed company and this cannot be spoken just like that.
Besides all of this, your post is a little ambiguous as there is no mention of when the coin will be launched, where will it be initially released etc..

if the FB coins comes out, i will deifinitely buy lots of them. I strongly believe that with facebook coming into the crypto face together with JPM coin (JP Morgan), people across the globe will begin to have faith and believe in the blockchain technology using cryptocurrencies. I am patiently waiting for Facebook and JP morgan to launch their coin

There is no profit to be made. They are dollar tokens, not cryptocurrencies.

Feel free to hoard and adore them. They won't make you any money nor will they protect you from being shut down or shut out should the whim of their controllers dictate it.

I heard about this news. This undoubtedly pleases, only until there is an official announcement from Facebook, this news will be just hype.If we assume that this is really true, then I am sure that this cryptocurrency will take at least 3 place in capitalization.

That's going to be the most popular coin in the market, let's admit it facebook has everything, they have the money, they can hire top-notch developers, and they will not stop until they succeeded, so do we have a coin that can rival Ethereum and Bitcoin?

It's very likely to be a stablecoin as said in the article. What do you mean rival? Stablecoins aren't even in direct competition with bitcoin and ethereum to start with. I'm pretty sure that everyone's aware that these coins are made for different purposes. Quite a weird reply by a "Hero member" to be honest; you should know better.
right, there is no competitor from stblecoin whose price has never affected the value of btc or eth, but this is a great plan for facebook to be the best if they really create coins, facebook is a common media favored by various groups

Going from putting a ban on ICO ads to planning your own digital asset launch is surely progress. Buy for Facebook which is finally waking up to rhe potential in the blockchain technology.
Facebook are creating their own coin and this would not have so much an impact on all other cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin is the only coin as at now which can influence the entire cryptocurrency market

Possibly, we all witnessed that Facebook has the buying power to achieve almost everything on the Internet now and they're still wanting for more acquisition of trendy things and Cryptocurrency is not exempted but the truth is they can't buy Bitcoin so they are making their own. No matter what the outcome is, as long as they'll use Blockchain for their new payment technology then it will surely affect the cryptocurrency world because it was all started with Bitcoin.

And this is related to Bitcoin Discussion how again? I think your perfectly valid thread belongs in the Altcoin Discussion, you know, with the rest of the "stable" coins.

For me, Facebook releasing their own altcoin after being so hostile to Bitcoin, is meh. Even within altcoins, they'll have a hard time. But good luck to them, everyone is entitled to try, not that everyone will necessarily succeed...
