the fact that there are a lot of Newbie accounts like OP which are saying the same thing as "buy ETH" and "ETH is good investment", blah blah, is enough indication for me to stay away from it for the time being because each time a bunch of throwaway accounts are created to advertise some altcoin, without an exception they are doing it because that altcoin is planned to get dumped some more.

ETH is a solid coin with great demand as evident in the number of ICOs leveraging in the Ethereum platform. So holding this coin is a reasonable decision. 
yeah ether is safe to hold as the losses can`t be tremendous as with the other alts which can decrease up to 10x but also the gains in bull run can`t be too high with ether.

You are right Eth is second to the best now the first and the best id bitcoin.Ethereum now is growing wide and is profitable if you invest now because the value is low now.Maybe next 2-3 months it will goes up beacause eth blockchain is indemand right now the erc20 token uses eth blockchain.
