I strongly agree with this phrase, buy value and not price. Many people follow the crowd to buy in when they thing a coin or token is cheap, especially those with very large total supply. We should buy because we've seen that the project is great, not because of cheap price. Some devs will still dump hard when they notice price spark, leading to a sharp dump. Let's be wise.
Buying something because it has a low price is a measure of value but not a very good one. There are much better ways to identify coins with potential to grow. I remember during the bubble last year that almost within a week all well known alt-coins under 100 Satoshi's pumped hugely, I assume as new money was trying to find projects that could be the next bitcoin in terms of growth. What they neglected to consider is marketcap and the underlying project.
As a conclusion to what you've said, i think that some of what you have said are correct. And a wise investors should not buy cheap coins without further investigating about what he bought. It is nicer to buy potential coins that are good in future investments.

To be achieve good profit investor has to look on the quality and the platform on which the coin is built and how it is different from other coins and how it will achieve the expectation of people in the crypto market these are the few things to be verified before investing. cheap value coins will not going to give profit. Price can sometimes be very deceptive, most especially now that the market is moving uptrend. Since bitcoin is dominant over most coins, even shit coins will also increase in dollar, but with time it will dump again. So it is better to go for a coin that has got good product, active team and a futuristic roadmap. Such coin can grow even if the price of bitcoin is not growing as supposed.
