I bought 4 more cards from newegg last week, and I had to reduce mem clocks on all to get them stable around 25.8-26.2Mhs ethereum.
On my older cards I'm running undervolted memclocks anywhere from 1920 to 1980, along with underclocked and undervolted cores.
New cards are stable around memclock 1850 to 1880. No correlations between ASIC qualities (as reported by GPU-z). Some of these new cards report 79.9 ASIC, but they are shit. Could I be that unlucky to get 4 for 4 crappy cards?
Not sure whats changed @ MSI, but
I'll be returning all 4 of them....
I agree with you the MSI cards are junk same with the powercolor 8GB cards and most of the nitros, in general the RX series that are not
480 ref cards are pure junk.. Out of the 100 i have 20 are being RMAed this week. Not one of my 30 480 REF cards has a problem.
Woah really ? i heard nothing but good stuff about the sapphire RX, care to elaborate ?
rating my cards in order :
XFX high end card 8GB the large one
Ref 480 4GB and 8GB
XFX low end cards - problem with these is you cannot undervolt so they waste a ton of power not buying these anymore but they are of good quality
Powercolor 8GB - flakey cards cannot underclock but none have died or fried on me
Saphire Nitro non ref all models 480,470 - nice with dual bios but they are terrible on the ram side , all with Hynix if 4GB or less and hit or miss on the OC , 2 of 20 died completely need to RMA
Msi frozer 480s and 470s - horrible OC cards need high voltage on the 480s to get decent hash rate which means power is wasted, out of my 20 470s 5 are bad, one actually burned up in the slot runing a motherboard
Saphire Nitro 470 ref - pure junk 3 of six are bad and freeze in any board i put them, ran well for a month or so , poor OC'ers some have elphida ram suppsoedly better cards but they all sucked for me
I have some other brands i'm testing not enough data on those
best bang for buck is these ones
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131696
but only if they have the newer samsung ram , i ordered 12 or so six had samsung it wil OC to 2125 and hash eth at 29.6 easily but again these cards are high volotage you cant under volt them more than 50mv
but since they are 470s they use the same power as the ref 480s with that modest undervolt and hash the same speed nearly.
Problem is how do you know what ram you will get , which is why i stick to ref 480s of the visiontek 470s 28.9 mhs on those
Thx for infos & feedback, very useful read !
np hope it helps btw made a few edits
