Sorry for your loss. How many coins were on it? Keep the hard drive.  Recovery by a specialist might be profitable,  if not now, probably later,  as the coin value rises even more.

there are companies that can save hdd data. it could be a motor or a head that is broken. the content might still be there.

why don't you try to recover it?

even if not by yourself, there're experts out there who might be able to recover it.

There're many ways to recover stuff from failed hdd's.
