We have often witnessed that the growth of altcoin is associated with the growth of bitcoin as whenever there is a pump in the value of bitcoin we have witnessed green days for altcoins too but how long will altcoins be dependent on bitcoin? Do you think altcoin can do it alone and have it's own pump and dump without being dependent on bitcoin? What will it take for altcoin to prosper without bitcoin's involvement?
If only pump and dump, i think can although not because of bitcoin. There are some altcoins that get pumped when bitcoin price still on stable phase. But, and reasons why that altcoin get pumped, usually because price still manipulated by whales if they are exist, or maybe update from developer, listed in new exchage, etc.

These types of questions always bring me back to my cliche that "there is no crypto without Bitcoin" The fact is that with the kind of marketcap altcoins have combined will still not be half of Bitcoin's. Altcoins had their run sometime ago and since many of them have missed their purpose, they'll always seek refuge in bitcoin for survival.

Yes, it is true that all throughout the span of crypto's existence, altcoins are really tend to be dependent into the price movement of Bitcoin which shows that there is really a relationship between Bitcoin's price and altcoin's price within the market. Maybe there could be a possibility that a certain altcoin can do improve its price all alone breaking its dependency from Bitcoin's price movement. It is really possible to happen but difficult to execute because mostly prices are dependent into the price of Bitcoin. An altcoin can do improve all alone on its own for me if the scenario is an altcoin is really that impressive or interesting for the eyes of the investors having a large bidding for that certain altcoin which could create a movement on the price of altcoin without depending on the price of Bitcoin. But since traders tend to rely on trading based on the price of Bitcoin, price of Altcoins do depend on the price movement of Bitcoin. But still, it can really be possible that an altcoin can do it alone but it will be difficult to make happen.

Check the altcoins, how many of them can you get with USD? the amount can be count with fingers. That is why the price of most of the altcoins in the market is calculated by BTC, so the decrease or increase in its price immediately affects altcoins. Also, BTC decrease also causes to a psychological decrease, and the value of the altcoins may drop against BTC.

Their independent movement seems difficult at the present time. But we can see their opposite movements, which is possible when their reverse movement is stronger. If you check out altcoins' prices with BTC, you understand what I am trying to say.

Altcoins can never be alone or make its own increase and decrease of value without bitcoin because since the beginning when the altcoins are being project it already paired by BTC which is the only coins that dominating the value of all cryptocurrency coin in the digital space.

Bitcoin remains the leader of crypto market for now. It determines the market sentiment and trend primarily whether bullish or bearish. Over coming years, when cryptos become mainstream, the dominance of bitcoin should go down drastically.

If you're talking about legitimate growth of an altcoin, you're misusing the term 'pump and dump' which is typical on bitcointalk.  It shows a serious lack of understanding.

For *most* coins, value won't increase unless bitcoin does because there are too many of them and most are dead or dying.  The bigger ones like Eth, Dash, Monero, and the like can go up on their own but it all depends on demand.  Just like bitcoin.

The long and short of this is that a coin will increase in terms of fiat value as long as it holds its bitcoin value.  If bitcoin goes up and the coin has the same price in terms of satoshis, obviously it's worth more overall.  That's the weird quirk of the altcoin market in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure the crypto space can without Bitcoin, but it will probably take years to recover. Altcoins have proven to be impossible to exterminate, even when they don't seem to have much value or public interest anymore.

As always, there will be an incentive to get into the next Bitcoin before the rest does so, which means that a few coins will pump hard because of all the smart money capital entering their markets. Makes the most sense to me.

Just look at BTC dominance and its relation to altcoins. Dominance is far too high for altcoins to do something, even if BTC drops in price, altcoins are losing twice as much as BTC does. We need another bull trend to fix things.

If you are in this market for a long time you will not have a dream like this, the alt coin had its run in the past especially the top coins and the rally made everyone rich who invested in it well before 2016 and now if you expect that the altcoin will have a separate rally then you will be hallucination Tongue.

i think it is still difficult as long as altcoins are valued as alternative coins, because when it is only alternative coins will of course have bad effects such as slow growth and continue to have a connection with bitcoin in every move

Yes altcoins can grow if on future most of altcoins will trade with pair USDT or USDC or any stable coins and also if they have enough trade volume and if they are bought by a lot of people and not selled.

Numerous coins were already paired to USD and stablecoins, though they are bought by traders in USD the coins are still dependent to the price of BTC. We may not be seeing a coin like that as long as BTC functions as a base currency for altcoins. But we are seeing ETH to be like a stand alone on the DEX where its the top token for all. ETH is always paired to the ERC tokens which these ERCtokens are depended to ETH's price.

I also often pay attention to this. basically the increase in altcoin is sometimes related to the increase in the price of bitcoin. but it happened to an altcoin as a whole. when talking about specific altcoins, of course certain altcoins can pump based on their respective developments. for example, ethereum, if there is a development on ethereum, the price will most likely go up, but not involve other altcoins. but, if this is overall, I think altcoin depends on bitcoin.

if altcoin stops dependency on btc pairs, it certainly can. The problem is that crypto is comfortable trading in harsh price fluctuations, if altcoin only goes with pair trading of something that is stable in the short term, it will not appeal to traders, they will only be like other stable coins used specifically to maintain value.

We can see that Altcoins with Blockchain the same as Bitcoin still needs the support of Bitcoin however in my opinion, Stable coins can survive without Bitcoin because it has a different Blockchain and it is supported by fiat currency, If you are looking for Altcoins that can make it alone then try Holding Stable coins like XRP, Tether, etc...

But I still prefer Bitcoin and other decentralized Altcoin, even though the movement in a bearish state I am sure on the future movement of Bitcoin that it will continue to surge up and surge up to the moon.

As of today, Bitcoin dominance is 66% [urlhttps://coinmarketcap.com/]Source: CoinMarketCap[/url]. When Bitcoin go up, altcoins also enjoy the party. We haven't seen any notable rally in which bitcoin was not involved and was solely done by altcoins. I dont think altcoins right now have the strength to move alone, BTC movement is mandatory.
There are altcoins that can still arise when BTC dump due to their updates and development done, but when BTC pump they tend to pump too as mostly all alts depends on BTC. But those projects that are considered shitcoin might not be able to join in the party. It will depends on what alt if it can move on it's own but in general they all depend in BTC movement.

Ofcourse it can. More over altcoins with low volume which like under 1 mil a day, there often this kind of altcoins experienced a big pump like more than 30% in a day. But it's seldom to happen in top alts with decent big volume because the whales are not able to pump it
here we are talking about the growth of the altcoin, that was pump and dump.
cryptocurrency is not legal yet and in our current speculative market, everything is about bitcoin. if bitcoin gets better, people speculate things will turn to better too because there is demand, on the other hand, if bitcoin gets dumped everybody will think the same to the altcoin because the price is set based on bitcoin performance not because of the use-case of the altcoin.

There is no timeframe for that observation. Altcoins will always be dependent on bitcoin and sometimes they are not. It's been seen and told that altcoins pump are depending on bitcoin and when we see them fall, bitcoin goes up. Sometimes they are together and connected to each other, it's not that easy to understand but you can have that idea easily on why they are connected.

Do you think altcoin can do it alone and have it's own pump and dump without being dependent on bitcoin?
It happened also that few altcoins pumped themselves alone because of their own whales.

BTC continues to be a main entry point to crypto and I think it would continue to be the main player in this niche market due to the fact that it still continues to receive the most community support, for good reason. BTC's network is the most immutable, and in such can support the main and most important features of cryptocurrency stronger than any other altcoin.
