They can't.
Altcoins rely to bitcoin and that's how powerful our bitcoin is. They can do it on their own for the meanwhile but it won't take long and they'll rely again to bitcoin.
This is how altcoin works, they are pairs with bitcoin.
Youre somehow right because altcoin soes rely on bitcoin in some occasion but not in every occasion and altcoin reliance upon bitcoin will fade in the future when the total 21million coins is mine cause bitcoin holder during that time you use their holding as an asset than currency.
Yes there will be times that they won't but, most of the time they are.
It can be true when we totally see the whole supply of bitcoin being mined but I don't think we will be able to see it or we're still alive during that time.

Altcoin can go for dump without Bitcoin, but it can't get pumping without the Bitcoin help! We witnessed it in 2019! Altcoins are passing the worst time, even in 2018, altcoins dominance did not come to this down! There was a time when we saw the ETH price increased with the Bitcoin price. And now those are a dream!

Altcoin's performance always depending on Bitcoin price that we has been saw in 2018 because when bitcoin price in peak as $20k all other altcoins reached all time high but after bitcoin price has drops $5k then altcoins has comedowns 70% and still struggling to comeback because of bitcoin performing very bad.
I am putting a lot of faith in this year because this is the decisive time for my current profit. In fact, 2018 and 2019 are a very bad time for all investors and some altcoins made me lose money very quickly so this time I will think and choose safer investments. Of course it is still impossible to avoid risks, but 2020 is expected to be the best year of the crypto market.

In addition, investment demand has been increasing significantly in recent days and if this continues, altcoin season will soon occur and the value of Bitcoin may reach new highs.

We have often witnessed that the growth of altcoin is associated with the growth of bitcoin as whenever there is a pump in the value of bitcoin we have witnessed green days for altcoins too but how long will altcoins be dependent on bitcoin? Do you think altcoin can do it alone and have it's own pump and dump without being dependent on bitcoin? What will it take for altcoin to prosper without bitcoin's involvement?
It will be hard to do alone. People originally invested in crypto because of bitcoin. Now they are still interested in bitcoin due to their past judgment. Notice, as bitcoin grows, so does the market. and now Bitcoin Dominance is still very high and it shows that people are still more interested in bitcoin. Investing in alts now only brings big losses and risks.

How altcoins depend on themselves and do it alone!, and most of the exchanges are based on the Bitcoin pair, Bitcoin is the founding coin and is the highest market cap value compared to altcoins that have not reached 1% of the market cap value of Bitcoin, I believe that all investors have confidence in the bitcoin and ethereum, so it is impossible to rely on other altcoins in light of the existence of these two coins.

in 2017 we see ethereum price hitting $1200 during bitcoin price falling , i think it's can happen altcoin will do pump and dump alone, withouth seeing bitcoin price. but in other problem i can say 90% bitcoin rising and pump will impact altcoin price too.

that's because bitcoin dominates almost all exchanges compared to altcoin. maybe altcoin will live without bitcoin, but that will happen when the market starts to believe in altcoin which is full of scams. bitcoin is still the best and it helped altcoin grow to this day.

Altcoins can never be alone or make their own increase and decrease in value without bitcoin because BTC, which is the only coin that dominate the value of all cryptocurrency coins in digital space. All of the other coins depend on it and that's how it will continue to be forever. Because bitcoin is the king. It bitcoin pumps in the future then you can expect all the crypto to rise a lot.

This isn't exactly true. You could have a small pump on a coin with just good news coming out. For instance, the upcoming Ethereum update. Now, I can't guarantee that this will absolutely increase the price, but I'm using it as an example. Whenever news comes out that is good for a coin, you will see a small pump. Usually this balances itself out in the long run and the price recovers, but there can be small pumps in coins without the Bitcoin price moving at all. I have seen it happen with a few different coins over the years.

it is not possible, however, BTC affects the value of Alt, unless every Exchange does not accept the exchange BTC = Alt, only accepts fiat = alt, then alt will be independent even without the presence of BTC.
Even when it will be accepted fiat as the main pair and altcoin will always pegged with bitcoin. Bitcoin as the main pair who determine all of the prices for altcoin.
Since it was dominating the whole market and altcoin can't do it alone. But altcoin can do that as long as it will be a backed coin.
However things go advanced the usage of fiat hasn't decreased. This portrays fiat to be dominant over bitcoin even though the value of bitcoin is much high compared to the traditional fiat. Same as that bitcoin serve as a dominant currency or investment over altcoins, though there were more number of altcoins that are high in terms of growth than bitcoin. In this pattern each and everything is interconnected and has got dependence.

For now it seems difficult because Bitcoin still remains the dominance of investors for crypto currency issues.  Alt coins will be released if when bitcoin has been widely owned and only a little is left in the market it can only happen in my opinion.

A lot of the alts on exchanges like Kraken can be exchanged directly for dollars or euros. And the Korean exchanges allow you to exchange alts directly for Korean Won.

So the potential is now there for an alt to develop an independent existence from bitcoin.

i dont think it is possible without bitcoin. First of all the market is so bearish at the moment. uptrend can begin only with bitcoin. marketcap grow if people start investing in bitcoin. and after a while (when whales, mid. investors thinks that they made enough profit with bitcoin), money maystart to move on altcoins. that may cause to an altcoin bull.

altcoin does need bitcoin to keep growing, especially to get to altseason. bitcoin movements can provide potential price movements for altcoin, because altcoin is currently still very dependent on bitcoin prices and is difficult to release for this. maybe when the market has improved, altcoin can grow by itself.
altcoin's growth was also greatly influenced by the updates sought by their platform developers. when they make no effort to get better, even if bitcoin pumps, they will only follow for a moment. because their market is not strong.

in my opinion it can, if traders are not afraid of btc price movements, altcoin growth can itself without relying on bitcoin, because traders buy altcoin via bitcoin so if bitcoin prices move asset values traders move

We like to see that but we can't deny the fact that bitcoin is the one who is controlling the market, it's dominance are making altcoins to follow on its movement. have you noticed? when btc pump altcoins dump and if bitcoin dump same happen with altcoins, btc needs to rise more and more for altcoins to start pumping, that's the truth.
and that is exactly what is happening and what reality is,there is no
chance that altcoins will do it alone not unless that said currency/token
are being Pumped intentionally by some whales that hunts victim for
their pump and dump scheme.it is sad to learn that still there are
victims falling from this trap when we have been seeing this for years
now,but people must learn that altcoins depending on Bitcoin so never
expect a good pump while bitcoin is still dumping.
