I would say there is zero chance of this in a million. If bitcoin goes down altcoins start fighting the battle of their existence, so we can't say they can move independently. If they can't survive when bitcoin goes down how can they exist independently?
It's written so many times here that whenever bitcoin goes green all the market goes green and the same hold true for red bitcoin also.

But unfortunately bitcoin will still dominate them all so chances it would go down is still out of the topic. So altcoin basically still need bitcoin in order to survive but only for the right one that is worthy enough to be the next bitcoin. So far, Ethereum and other stable coins are next to the line that would able to stand on their own.

I don't think any coin is going to come out and overtake the number 1 position that Bitcoin holds anytime soon. Ethereum has had a good run, but it's market cap is still only 1/10th of Bitcoins. I think Bitcoin will always remain on top. It's basically a requirement to buy Bitcoin before you can buy any of the other altcoins as it is right now. So unless that changes and you can buy said altcoin directly easily, Bitcoin will stay on top. Everytime you invest in an altcoin, it raises the price of Bitcoin slightly since you have to have it first to trade for an altcoin usually.

not all but some alt can depend on itself, when btc pump / dump there are some who do not follow it.
but the btc value will also affect their increase in value regardless of the project being good / bad.
indeed only a few, but those in the 100 best coins are only 2 coins today, Enigma and Kyber Network have risen quite high by 15%, if you look at the coin chart in the top 100, you will see everything the average price is at under support, of course altcoin will do its own way this time, always monitor the altcoin that you love and you will benefit if you trade

Difficult question to answer, because indirectly in general altcoins who have their own networks also follow the flow of bitcoin, even stable coins will always be based on the BTC and USD. may we take the example of ETH, this eth in my opinion is altcoin which is independent and does not depend on bitcoin in terms of its creation and technology, very far different from bitcoin, eth is supported by the community and a good market purchasing power, almost every exchanger is found by the ETH market itself, but still, even though it is independent, when ETH is paired to USD it will automatically be connected to the price of btc usd, in my opinion this is natural, how can BTC not be the root of all digital crypto assets and will continue until the internet dies.

I'm not sure what can be a purpose of this question. Why would alt-coins do something alone, why would Bitcoin do something
alone? Crypto-currencies should be connected and to work together, like we should be united and work together. We can have
fun, and we can try to outsmart each other, but we should do that in fair and honest way.
Crypto-currencies should be a ground for all of us to have trusted economy! Nobody needs to do anything alone, we can do it
together.
at least they will not depend on every bitcoin condition, and can move with market speculation that has its own consequences, this is often not profitable for altcoin but it is indeed impossible, especially because it is always in the same market. Crypto speculators are also not too fond of something that is stable for investment, all cryptocurrency cannot be separated just like that.

Of course it doesn't depend with bitcoin all alone, because altcoin became so unique in terms of profitable aspects. Although it's so hard to aim a good value, but as we waited for enough time it might come to a point that the price will increase more better than now. Let's just expect more new updates from the community, and it became so surprising in the future.

Let me give my opinion. It is very possible for altcoins to be independent (Bitcoin price won't always affect altcoin price) in one condition : having a real value and real use. So, when a coin is adopted widely and is trusted by people then the price might not be affected by Bitcoin anymore.

At this time, what makes altcoins very dependent to Bitcoin is because none actually trust those altcoins and that's the problem.

as far I see the altcoin movement, altcoin always depends on Bitcoin. that happened until now
In this case we talk about most/ majority of altcoin, not as a individual coin.

bcz if individual coin can be different from bitcoin, but in most of altcoins will follow bitcoin
see the Bitcoin dominance to understand the correlation

Bitcoin and Altcoin are interconnected, so of course they are related to price. if the price of Bitcoin grows, then behind it there is Altcoin that follows. in my opinion Altcoins will still be depend on Bitcoin because maybe we already know that Bitcoin is number one in the crypto market. maybe in the future Altcoins can have its own pump and dump, but for now Altcoins still can't do that alone without Bitcoin.

We have often witnessed that the growth of altcoin is associated with the growth of bitcoin as whenever there is a pump in the value of bitcoin we have witnessed green days for altcoins too but how long will altcoins be dependent on bitcoin? Do you think altcoin can do it alone and have it's own pump and dump without being dependent on bitcoin? What will it take for altcoin to prosper without bitcoin's involvement?
Altcoins can move independently however due to its tied pair with Bitcoin their independent movements really don’t make impact if only it is tied to USD in the first place then we might notice their growth. Bitcoin serves a magnet for all crypto assets wherever it goes everything follows.
Yes, although the altcoin price can pump on its own, but it seems to be an individual pump, and not so high. for example BNB. the price of the pump little by little. but, we can see BNB reaching its ATH when the price of bitcoin pump and dominance. it also happens to altcoin altogether. altcoin can pump, but the true potential will only occur when the price of a bitcoin pump.

For pumps and dumps almost every day there is altcoin which increases.
Despite its temporary nature, the whale plays a very strong role.
But for prosperity or independence altcoin at least they have a real product that is useful for crypto.

At this time no, but i think this is mainly because on all exchanges most altcoins are traded just with bitcoin pair and will take lot of time to change this,
Some exchanges are trading altcoins to stable coins and that's a good start already, stable coins to usd and that would make our job easier to convert it.
It's really hard to expect now since we are not in altcoins season yet and with the big drop or the long bear market we've experience, this makes it hard for altcoins to recover, it's true it will take time so we have and need to be patient.

but maybe after 5 years altcoins will be traded directly with usd.
Hopefully it will not take that long.

Yeah, until all of the altcoins have their own separate marketcaps, I don't see them taking off on their own. As it is right now, most of the money has to come into the marketcap through Bitcoin in order to purchase whatever altcoin your'e wanting to purchase. Until you can purchase an altcoin directly with USD just about everywhere, the market will stay revolving around what happens with Bitcoin.

Youre right. I think OP don't understand that altcoin market don't always depend on the BTC market momentum but before the altcoin could totally do it alone, the 21 million BTC will be mine cause BTC will be asset then and altcoin will be traded direct into any form of currency.

Try to look at on top altcoins which can be trade off directly with fiat.As you can see which not all the times alts prices do correlate nor follow bitcoins price direction.

It may go either along the way or would go to the opposite side.It depends on the market situation but we cant really avoid the fact that alts is mainly depending on bitcoins price wayback.
Where you do end up on exchange your alts to btc first before you can able to earn or gain fiat.
