Bitcoin can not only be used for purchasing illicit good from shady people on the dark net or for gambling activities, there are charities accepting the crypto as well. If you are feeling like doing a good deed today you could consider donating some for a good cause. Or you could exchange something to cash and use it to buy stuff for homeless shelters.

Of course it can, Bitcoin was made for a good thing. What it needs is us (the user), we have to help it to become more useful.

Why do bitcoin or it user have to prove anything to anyone? why do we spend our coins to charity to prove it is not evil.It is not that I am against charity but charity should be done with sole purpose of helping others.Bitcoin may be use for bad things by some but that doesn't make bitcoin bad itself
dont think negative dude, people make bitcoin for something goods lke charity, thye just will make another payment for charity, they dont mean not give the sole purpose to make charity, but people only want to make charity with different way. i sure about that, and i'm eve make charity with bitcoin, and i dont mean its have purpose to make bitcoin more popular.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. With bitcoin is the same, its up to people how will they use it. I believe bitcoin have a chance to bring something good in economy and for people in the world. Have many positive things about btc and its just a beginning.
There is many evil people in this world that use things for personal gain, its same in btc world. We see a lot of scammers around. So its not enough to be good, we all need to be smart and to not fall on their evil scams.
Lets hope that good and smart people can overcome evil. Not just hope, lets unite and work together for that!

Still now I have been using bitcoin for good purposes like mobile recharge and some online purchase. I have a wish to go for gambling. I don't know whether it is good or bad.
gambling is bad. it can make you lose your bitcoin

anyway I can buy goods, books, with my bitcoin, but I first convert it to fiat money because the shop doesn't accepts bitcoin.
Well, of course, bad gamble, maybe you can use bitcoin for investing in one orphanage or build a house for the future. it adalh a good thing to do

Yeah, the best way to spend bitcoin for good is to give some amount of it to charity in orphanage or to spend on some other needy people, maybe for their education.
I really appreciate your suggestion.

Yes playing gambling is there wish we can't say it's bad it's just a game but without knowing anything and do betting loosing there money is bad if they confident about there bet you can do it's not a problem but don't take it seriously just take it as a fun that's it don't go for your loss.

Yes you can that reminds me of an old member here in forum who already did this he uses the bitcoins he got to buy the needs of the less fortunate people.

I did not onow that. But it seems to me that every currency be it bitcoin or a dollar can be used for good.
Many charities depend an a steady income stream to depend on their existence.

I disagree with your assessment that majority opinion matters. That means that if more than half of a population in a given jurisdiction decide that some activity of yours is "bad", then they will force you to stop under threat of official violence. That's highly questionable morality; if the activity isn't causing harm or loss, there is no justification for such behaviour, it amounts to nothing more than arbitrary bullying

this depend on what you call the majority, if we follow the 51% rule then you are right but if we call the majorit 99%? it may change everything, why few thounsad people's opinions in the world, should mater more or be equal to the opinion of everyone else?

Ok, why should 99 people determine what 1 person is permitted to do with their own life? Is there any point in being that 1 person, if you cannot make your own decisions? That 1 person may as well not exist at all.

Why have a life that is called yours, when you, the supposed owner of the life, cannot make choices they want to make. Surely your life doesn't belong to you under those circumstances?

i may agree if this 1 person is deciding only for his existance, but we are talking about deciding about the existence of the whole comunity, so we should follow the "majority rule" about consensus

But what if 1% or 2% don't want to be in any community? What if you want to choose to create your own community, with your own rules? There is always some government or inter-governmental organisation that will spoil your plans, and it shouldn't have anything to do with governements or any other people when the land you wish to use for your community belongs (or supposedly does) to you.

What's the point of "owning" something, if a few million people you've never even met can tell you what you are permitted to do with it? Do you really own your house, or land, if you can't choose what you do there?

this is the exact reason why i hate taxes, they impose you something that you not agree on, just because they decide to base it on the majority rule

the majority are paying taxes so you need to pay it too, then you have those creating their liberland and sitting there with no rule, no law, because they decided so, this is the example we can bring to discuss this clearly

and unless each one of us can go outside and create his own "liberland",  it's not possible for "him"(the guy that one to create his rule his comunity), to reach the absolute freedom until he die

Gambling is not always bad imo, you can also win many bitcoins with gambling. But in the end yeah, you can lose many bitcoins on bitcoins. And i think bitcoins can be used for goods, like buying and paying something online.

Yes but bitcoin is not accepted for buyings goods now so for now i use bitcoin for investing in. Good sites but before i do investing i will research and check nature and background where i put my money. And i hope bitcoin  be use as payment option in shopping malls.

Something I've been thinking about for a long time is to offer a bounty for someone willing to make Bitcoin related images and/or iconsets and releasing them under public domain.

This is something I would only be able to do on this forum and with bitcoin due to the ease of making the whole process as transparant as possible and using a trusted escrow.

Bitcoin is just perfect for these kind of things.

Just like of everything on world, bitcoin has pros and cons as well. It can be used for good as well as bad. Honestly, it just depends upon it's users. Terrorists may use it to hide money, people may use it to buy illegal stuff, politicians may use it to hide their illegally squeezed money.

Again, who defines who is the terrorist and who is the politician? The newspapers? The TV news?

The politicians label the terrorists, but the terrorists consider themselves simply politicians without adequate recognition (hence the fighting). If you come up with an abstract definition of terrorism and politics, they're actually rather similar in nature. Politicians are essentially the most successful terrorists. I consider them both to be equally vicious, just in different ways.

They may take the advantage of being anonymous. But hey, don't they still do that? It will only become more easier for them, nothing else.

Well, that's always been an inherent part of Bitcoin: rolling out Caribbean style banking secrecy to literally everyone.

to be honest, i see bitcoin in its currency aspect as money. the same as the fiat money i use every day. you can basically do with it whatever you want. with fiat and bitcoin you can buy as many illegal things as you would like. there is really no difference here. and yes, these two currencies can also be used for normal things of course. once again, there is no difference.
