Bitcoin will be acceptable across the globe. But it would be a bit utopian to expect all countries to accept the same way. Some will forbid it and some will adopt it completely.

Can Bitcoin become the universal currency of the world? What is the reason?

No , it can not.

There is literally not enough coins for a global currency.
(Not even with the ridiculous 8 decimal point division to smaller increments.)

If it survives the ever increasing electricity costs, then it's price will continue to grow and no one will be able to afford it but the ultra rich,
therefore at best it will have a limited elite market only.

Bitcoin Scarcity insures it is only for the rich, and therefore will never be universally used.

Yes, Bitcoin has enough potential to be the universal currency, But Technically, Bitcoin needs some improvement, But I can't hope this improvement will happen either! Bitcoin is a volatility digital currency, you have to use it with an Internet connection, Bitcoin price always keeps moving, this needs to stop and that is not possible, bitcoin transaction takes an extra fee! So, there need to be fixed, otherwise, bitcoin can't be the universal currency!

You can forget about that, because governments will hang onto their own fiat currencies for the mere fact that they can control all aspects of it and also for the sentimental side of having a strong tradition and history with that currency. A lot of people will not support a "Cashless" society, because of cultural problems and also high levels of people with little or no education.

You also have conflict between countries and we see these problems with stronger economies, having to carry weaker countries.  Tongue

The tendency is there for bitcoin the universal currency of the world. Bitcoin prices are still unstable in the market but our fingers are crossed..The reason for the possibility is that bitcoin is already a pioneer,a king and a hero.

bitcoin is a decentralized crypto currency and of course a decentralized system that is a system of freedom in financial matters so that there is no central as a financial regulator, it makes me think that bitcoin cannot become a global currency, I think in financial settings globally of course the government will have a role in making regulations related to finance.

Hmm. Its a tricky question, at the back of my mind I'm thinking its doable. But how about countries who doesn't have access to internet then? As much as then wanted to used bitcoin they will have a lot of challenges. So I don't think at the current scenario, we won't see bitcoin recognised as a universal currency.

Bitcoin is an internet based currency and for it to become a Universal currency, you need Global internet penetration, which I doubt will happen within the next 10 years. Which means, it is hard to access Bitcoin anywhere in the world. This is one of the biggest hinderance for Bitcoin.

People know Bitcoin because of its Fiat value and not about its benefits. As a common man, I do not see any large scale benefits of Bitcoin to help me in my daily life.

I and most of the forum members consider Bitcoin as an assest and a way to overcome our Financial difficulties.

I do not think Bitcoin will become a Universal currency.

Of course, it is very likely that in the future, as the internet is now universally covered, it will no longer be called antiquated if we are using the latest currency in the world, which is bitcoin.

no it can, bitcoin can be the universal currency and can be used across the world, but it wouldn;'t be the main currency in the world, because the FIAT currency is the number one in any country in the world

It will take a lot of time for a bitcoin to be a universal currency. First of all, every country should be self sufficient in electricity and internet. Internet should reach even the remotest place of the country which according to me is impossible now or infact after ten years.

Well today we can say that it does not have the capability of growing and become the world's currency. But then if the time comes that it will be accepted by everyone, and even the remote place will have an access to it, then probably it will be the worldwide currency used by everyone.

In the world today there are very few countries that accept electronic payments and they are mostly located in big cities, if only bitcoin for the transaction does not know where I can go without fiat. . The popularity of bitcoin transactions takes time

Well I think that bitcoin has all chances to become a universal currency. Perhaps in the future it would happen. But bitcoin needs to be improved.

I want to use a crytocurrency as a normal currency, that would be really great if that cryptocurrency is being used as a fiat since it will be really great since that is really the future.

But looking now at it, I think Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are far from being centralized and being used as a normal currencies. I doubt that it will be centralized soon, but I think there will come a time that there will be a crypto that will be a centralized used by a country as a usual fiat.

I think that bitcoin will become a very popular currency in the future but I don't think it will become a universal currency as btc is being transacted through internet. Not all cities in every country has the access of the internet technology which I believe it is not practical and not usable. Usually, countries do prefer their own fiat currency that people can access and bring it with them in physical form to pay their goods and services. I think in the current situation, people prefer btc currency as an investment rather than a currency for the purpose of payment of goods and services.

Bitcoin is been used by a lot of people across the world. We can say bitcoin is somehow semi universal currency used by people across the globe looking at its market cap and the amount of bitcoin in circulation. The second reason why i think bitcoin is semi universal currency is that, between 2017 and this year 2018, bitcoin has gotten a lot of news headline making part of the world being aware of the existence of it. This headline has made some people to join the crypto space.

I anticipate that Bitcoin can not become the world's currency because Bitcoin's supply is limited and the number of people in the world is so large that it can not provide enough Bitcoin for everyone. In that large amount of Bitcoin is frozen and can not be transported.
