There are some countries that have very limited access to bank transfers or paypal. Western Union and Bitcoin are the only viable options for a lot of third world countries.

In a country where access to bank transfer is limited, how are you going to convert your coins to fiat? Do you expect Bitcoin exchanges to function in a country where banks don't exist?

BIG YES!!!
Actually, I think that the major reason why Bitcoin was created is to help the poor people and also teach them to gain financial freedom. Many testimonials that from being a poor people, they became rich just by using Bitcoin.

Though bitcoin maybe was made to provide a financial freedom to the people but i don't think satoshi had any thoughts like this in his mind that it might help any poor people or countries as while creating it he probably did not think that it would become so popular some day.

If bitcoin could really help poor people, I think those people that knows the technology and really has access to internet, which is very common nowadays, however, there are still places which are not reached by electricity and internet, that means it will take time before they could benefit from bitcoin. though solar panels could help them, but it won't be enough to power their computer for the whole day.

You are right my friend! They need to have access first on the internet to before they can use Bitcoin and benefit from it. I hope that the people who already earned a lot from Bitcoin will organize charitable progprams to help those people who does not have any access to the internet and introduce Bitcoin to them and teach them how to earn from it so that they can earn a living from Bitcoin Smiley

I think Facebook has been experimenting on a prototype plane that can distribute internet connection through the sky. I don't know how they do it but I believe that they can distribute the internet to those remote areas or developing countries that don't have a reliable internet. If it would be implemented, then Bitcoin can help out these countries.

How can a bitcoin would help the poor countries? Let's be specific here, in poor countries infrastructures are not that fast and internet connection is only good in some limited areas, even though they can access with bitcoin but what should they do to be help then.

Uhm, that is why we are thinking of a way to give developing countries ways to get the infrastructure they need to use bitcoin. As I mentioned, Facebook is trying to create a way to provide the internet through their advanced plane. So if developing countries will have access to the internet, then that would give them access bitcoins. Thus, helping them with bitcoin.

You're right. For example America is rich but they still got homeless people, give them food and they will eat for a meal, teach them how to get food and they will eat for a lifetime. Even you agree or disagree Bitcoin do help poor countries, not all individual in that countries, if you all want to take this 'Can bitcoin help poor countries' in a very literal way so be it, just saying.
America isn't rich at all. Especially when you consider the insanely high number of their debt that is increasing with an astonishing pace.

People in America, to a certain extend also many other countries, are living from money that they don't actually have as they let their credit cards "speak" for them.

It's creating debt on top of debt, and that on top of even more debt. If you look at that, then it's no surprise that so many people there depend on coupons for food, benefits, and the list goes on.

Unlike the US government that is able to keep putting itself into more debt, where it basically can continue for ever, the normal people don't have that ability.

For them it ends up in a bad situation where they barely have any money for food, where some even end up homeless because they lost their job, etc etc etc...

Bitcoin can only help poor countries if the governments are open and supportive towards Bitcoin. And that's not the case.

For me, yes, becuase Bitcoin currency serve as a currency of every country in the world. For example there is a task or service to be done that is paying bitcoin, there is no range of payment from where you came or what is your race. So for me Bitcoin do help poor countries just like us.

Correct,in bitcoin we became equal whether you came from a not so inditrialzed countries or from  fully industrilaized one. Great opportunity indeed and also you wonder why some ICO's are generating millions of dollars in investment. It can really help poor countries.
Why you both do not consider the requirements of bitcoin, people in poor countries are also poor and more of them can not afford to have things to access bitcoin that is why i do not think that bitcoin can helps poor country since the progress of country start on the people who lives there.

if that country is poor and there is no use of internet for example then bitcoin cant help this countries in any possible way
for start you need to have internet connection and some sort of device that can be use this (pc, tablet or phone)
then start earning with lots of possibilities in any way from free coins to some task or some small job that will help you in any way

bottom line is if country is poor it can be helped in any other way but if they want to use crypto they need to have internet service without that this can not be done in any way

What's the total population in this world who can work with the service section you are talking, I think you are talking for just few people who can work for bitcoin, and I believe in my own capacity that working is the main benefits that would help a poor country. There must be something special that majority would benefit and not only a few numbers of the total population.

Then you know what is it that can help the majorities?, the post is about 'can bitcoin help poor countries'. Helping is helping no matter how few or many.

Aside from Western Union, there are still remittances that cater money transfer and they are popular... Bitcoin for their money transfer? how would that happen that it reached the places with limited access to banks? first of all before internet came to those places, banks and other establishments came first, so I think considering bitcoin for their money transfer I think is not yet an option, or maybe they haven't know about it yet...  Smiley
