I think it is possible and they can really do. But it is not that easy. Because the first time that I enter bitcoin cryptocurrency, it is promoting of its built decentralized block chain that enables its users to have access in their own privacy locker that will provide and support your privacy and your account. Some steps you can take towards better security, especially if you are planning on holding a lot of bitcoins and for you to not use them include these following options:

Hacking your wallet can mean many things :
- getting the password to your wallet program - POSSIBLE, easiest
- stealing/manipulating your addresses as they are used - POSSIBLE e.g. virus
- stealing from an online wallet service - POSSIBLE, very hard
- brute-force cracking your addresses - IMPOSSIBLE
The main risks are the usual ones - PC and password security.

I think it is very difficult for a hacker to hack your wallet. Bitcoin is well known for its security. It is the strongest and safest currency for transactions around the world, which is why it always exists and grows. Only new exchanges are hit by hackers, they can not attack bitcoins.
