When i was entre on market bitcoin was 4000+$ and gold was a stable price now bitcoin is 60000+$ price but gold is not increases price compare with bitcoin or other coin so i think bitcoin or top 10 coin can more valuable from gold i agree this topic.
The increase in Gold occurs gradually and often also stays at the same price for a long time, so that some people think that Gold does not have price movements, even though there are clear price movements, but only in a very small size, in contrast to cryptocurrencies that are price movements tend to be sharp and can even be 100X in one year.

I actually also agree with this topic. but if bitcoin can rise that high and gold can't. but there is value in gold. because gold will not fall free. they are going down gradually and bitcoins could fall very fast. we've all seen it.
all of them have their own advantages and disadvantages. comparing two assets that don't have the same market I don't think would be good.

I have thought that one key advantage crypto (bitcoin, litecoin, Dash, monero etc.) has over gold is that its supply level is fixed and transparent, but can this or features make crypto more valuable than gold?

2021 is a good and fresh start to invest in crypto, I think a lot of people has considered that crypto is a good investment for short and long term. Also, nowadays crypto has a good liquidity so I think slowly but sure crypto will be side to side or more valuable than gold.
Now, crypto is side by side with gold, the only problem is that gold is already more valuable than crypto so that its resilience is more visible in terms of comparisons between the two, and I admit that in 2021 there are already so many people who join crypto because they are tempted by the benefits they can get, though not in the easy way.

The price of gold is keep decreasing, i think it because most of them sell it and turn it into buy crypto.

of course that can happen, because for now cryptocurrency is very popular and people have started to choose long-term investing in cryptocurrency, so this proves if investors start to believe for investing their money in cryptocurrency and of course that will be able to make cryptocurrency more valuable than gold in the future.
That can happen and no exaggeration to say that we will see that crypto will be more valuable than gold. More than that this day is not far from us, in my mind it will happen in the near future. There is still one coin that is more valuable than gold, it is BTC. However, as you know the price of ETH is so near to the price of gold. As l said numbers of these will be more than right now, ETH has great potential and it will reach more prices than gold. As you mentioned most people are more interested in the crypto world and it will affect the price of currencies too. It seems ETH is more than gold and it has happened earlier than l expected.

Why limit your comparations to gold only? There are metals out there that are way more expensive than Ag. What if I told you that the most expensive metal has total world supply of less that 10 grams?  Wink
Very extraordinary. What metal if I may know? because the goods that are in short supply and are also rare will always be very expensive by everyone who likes them, so I want to know about the Metal that you say.

It's Californium. Cf-252, to be precise. 10 million USD per gram (but I've seen price quotes as high as 25 million).

AFAIK bitcoin is more valuble than gold.
YFI is more valuble than gold.

Provided you take 1 kg as a unit equivalent to 1 btc or 1 yfi

I am of the opinion that the crypto market will overtake Gold earlier than we can imagine with institutions joining the trend on a bigger scale and adoption is increasing. Imagine PayPal and Visa merchants alone that will be exposed to the world of digital currency. The future looks so bright.
This has indeed happened and crypto has indeed taken over Gold through several cryptocurrency currencies in the market, because some people who are really familiar with crypto will prefer to store their assets in cryptocurrency rather than buy gold, even though this is done on some assets they have, meaning that crypto is more promising than gold, I think this is clear.

When we are talking about supply itself as against the current amount, yes indeed crypto particularly bitcoin is far more valuable .  Gold as we mined over 100 of centuries ago still has infinite supply and not being consumed so gold cant be lessen as compare to only 21M of bitcoin in circulation.
Gold is expensive not because of its maximum supply, but because of the difficulty of mining gold, it takes a long process to find one gram of gold, in contrast to bitcoin, which has a very limited supply, bitcoin in general depends on market demand, without it the price will decrease,
while gold prices tend to rise every year, the circulating gold supply is not much different from the increasing human population in the world.
I don't think it's because of the difficult gold mining factors that will affect the price of bitcoin. but gold has always been used as jewelry and people keep gold in the long run, this is what makes gold an option why gold cannot be as popular as bitcoin, because the supply of gold is also large

It's surely hard to find one gram of gold but actually it's not as hard as you might think, but gold actually isn't that rare, yes it's scarce but not that scarce you would find it only in the depth of mariana trench. but I do agree though that gold and bitcoin valued based on different point of view, bitcoin is valued do to its functionality and its limited supply as you said while gold, people just have faith in it therefore priced high.

For me, gold will stay forever as a valuable asset that one can have. Because we have gold bars and jewelry which are tangible items that can be stored and displayed if one wishes to. There's also Silver and Platinum and precious gems. But that of course is already far fetched and cannot be obtained by the common man. That is where cryptocurrencies come into play. These assets are very easy to obtain on exchanges and has been the driving force for us to become financially independent. Crypto might surpass gold but I think it will happen in a long time.

I agree with your statement that gold will last forever as a valuable asset that can be owned by anyone. Then I added a little that gold is also something that can be invested and will also have huge profits like digital currency. however, holding gold will make the holder more independent because it can be used as cash whenever and wherever Gold Holders Want.

Also yes. Since the genesis of Bitcoin, it has come to overtake Gold in terms of price even in its shortest life time in existence when compare to gold and I still believe that this will be sustained over time and I understand why people can be apprehensive about bitcoin is about the technology but not physical.
gold is also now we can have without physical form. Rich people say it is gold that is kept in a bank and for its own, we will only keep a paper. technologically future, I think everything will be completely digital. and never doubt that when all physical assets can be worthless when everyone is in the digital world.

Obviously few people on this forum understand the difference between price and value.

Can crypto be more valuable then gold? imo almost zero chance. (Though depends on the specific situation, but in a generalisation no).

I agree with you right here. I notice that Gold is some thing that have been in existence for a long while now and even our Graet grand parents knows the value of it but that cannot be said for Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency for now.

Can crypto be priced higher then gold? Yes.
As you can see I've been in the crypto community many years and I still see Bitcoin as a solution looking for a problem.

Bitcoin is already at around 10% of gold's market cap. A flippening seems inevitable. To a lot of the younger generation gold seems like an outdated investment. It has some interesting use cases but not anything that I really care about. As a store of value Bitcoin seems like the better option. It probably won't become obsolete because it can still be great for diversification purposes.
