Yes it could be possible that without bitcoin the cryptocurrency could stand. The other coins are independent with bitcoin but it could be trade to bitcoin. Another thing is that some of the coins also could be trade by other coins because it is not just supported by the common platform which is the ERC20 or the ethereum platform. There are many coins in the market like this and i do believe that these coins could stand without bitcoin. of usability.

In the time where Altcoins are not fully developed and if Bitcoin fails then confidence on total cryptocurrency market will decline significantly. But in your case if Altcoin replaces Bitcoin in future then that means market is more matured to understand about cryptocurrencies so at that time if Bitcoin fails then I don't think Cryptocurrency market will fail.
It is possibile. 
Expect the whole market to crash once bitcoin falls. It is impossible that a coin will survive this as all the cryptocurrencies are pegged to bitcoin. The only way to be certain that a coin will survive is if it detaches to bitcoin.
I think cryptocurrency can't stand without bitcoin because the prices in the market of cryptocurrencies depends to the price movement of the bitcoin.Bitcoin is the king of all the cryptocurrencies so its like a king losses in the battle.

In my opinion bitcoin will always be the best cryptocurrency so other altcoins have no chance to beat bitcoin and for me cryptocurrency will not stand without bitcoin because bitcoin is the top crypto so a lot of investor will not trust other cryptos if bitcoin will die or disappear. of usability.

I believe that nothing is impossible in this world everything can possible to happen. Honestly, cryptocurrency is not just about bitcoin so it can really stand without it. Now bitcoin is a well-known system and it's the asset of cryptocurrency. And bitcoin has the first place in the coin market cap but it could fall from its 1st place. However, I think that cryptocurrency will stand without Bitcoin.
Anything in the world is possible and we definitely can not tell when but as for now there is no possibility for a coin to be number 1 aside btc. And it is not really waste of time mining btc, it is in deed worth its value. Btc will conyinue to be number 1 without any doubt.

Thus I can say Cryptocurrency that survive without Bitcoin.
