Not really sure about what the author meant by “reach the top”. the top of what? the world? But if i held an ICO i would choose eth because of fast transactions and smart contracts.
Eth has already reached the top. At the moment he is second after Bitcoin. It is the most valuable coin among altcoins. Eth has several competitors, but they are not strong enough to threaten eth position in the market.
Ethereum will on the top while Vitalik Buterin does not create something more progressive than smart contracts.

For a long time I thought that ethereum will overtake bitcoin and it already was really near, but then in January the well known coins had a huge downswing in its value and bitcoin is back again with 45% market cap.
I can clearly recommend to invest in ICOs instead. Yes, the risk is also higher, but if you do your due dilligence and select projects wisely, then you have a good chance to succeed with your investment.

I'm sure that the Ethereum will overtake bitcoin by the end of the month. I plan to invest in ETH in the near future.
Of course investing in ethereum is a good idea, but it is unlikely that ethereum will be able to catch up on the capitalization of bitcoin in the near future. Yes, I support you, but I do not think that this will happen in the near future. Bitcoin falls and the Ethereum falls proportionally, in the same way and vice versa, they grow. If Bitcoin falls, it will not be soon, but the fact that the eth can reach $10k is a matter of time, because it is becoming more popular every day ... while I saw the highest price of $ 1,400 for the 1 eth, it kept, if not I am mistaken, 2 days. so where is the top? i cant see eth will reach a top in the next years, i think there maybe some coins that can replace eth in the future, but i still think it can live for a long time

It's a pittance really and only logical if you keep NEO's philosophy in mind with strong KYC principles (it keeps the scams off the platform). I'm happy the threshold is there. And companies are too. Multiple promising ICOs have already transferred from ETH to NEO because it's superior tech and ingrained compliance with regulations. I haven't yet heard a single ICO that moved the other way (even though NEO now has had about 5 ICOs and 30 planned in the coming 3 months).
Don't get me wrong, ETH is great. I love the decentralized aspect of it. It's great that everyone can deploy complex smart contract on there. It also has quite an inherent risk though (apparent when you look at all the scams that have been launched on the ETH platform).
