There is a possibility that ethereum's position in the coinmarket will be replaced if there are old altcoins that are more and equal to the future of ethereum but when it comes to gas fees ethereum is probably the most expensive when it comes to gas fees this is one of the problems of ethereum users now because the gas fee is too expensive.

I think Binance Coin and Cardano have a good chance of catching up with Ethereum in the market, but that mainly depends on when Ethereum 2.0 will be introduced. After improving Ethereum, I am sure that its position will strengthen a lot and it will be Ethereum that will chase Bitcoin's position rather than fear losing its own.
I don't think TRX will beat Ethereum. If any altcoin beats Ethereum, it will be BNB. Because Binance has the most trusted, fasted network with very low transaction fee. This is a big issue right now that can beat Ethereum.
LOL.. TRX is in death bed right now and it's user base and acceptability is going down with each passing month. IMO, Cardano is one of the coins that have the capability to replace Ethereum from the #2 position. It is not going to be easy, as right now Ethereum is having almost complete monopoly as far as smart contract platforms are concerned. But a lot of users are getting fed up with the extremely high transaction fee and security issues.
Earlier 2019 I wouldn't think any altcoin can compete with ETH. Today I think trx is going to be a good competition. I see more dApps coming out of trx blockchain than ETH which a good thing.

This is always a question running in our mind if there are new altcoins that can beat Eth in the market. There is a chance that it will be posible but it will take time for a new crypto to develop before reaching eth's marketcap in the coin market. If we try to visit coinmarketcap, BNB or ADA is next to eth but the gap is still far away.

New crypto if it can have higher prices, higher volumes and also lower transaction fees might be able to beat the current eth. but only the current season, so I think right now ETH is still too strong for anything in cryptocurrency when compared to other cryptos

Yes, the problem is the high fees that users are complaining these days. Their is the possibility to flip eth by other coin if eth network does not solve the issues. Some users are switching into other network that caters low fees. Let's see in the coming months or years of this could happen.

Many altcoins challenging its rank but so far i don't think they will beat it. Maybe after years someone will take over ETH ranking but still will be on the rank 10.
All possibilities in the crypto world can certainly happen and are not impossible, but to replace ethereum in the crypto world, I think it will be very difficult, because as we know that almost all altcoins transactions use ethereum as a gas, and ethereum has become an important part of the crypto world.
The possibility is so less but many developers are creating coins from time to time and they may improve the previous successful project or adopt it and apply a new concept to it. So I think if new cryptos can beat ETH in the market it will take a long time. But right now it is impossible. Maybe in the long future there's a new crypto could replace Eth from the market.
I think for now it seems possible but even though there are projects that can beat etherium it is not necessarily able to have high potential like etherium either from the supply or the price. Because etherium I think is an extraordinary cryptocurrency and a lot of investors are interested and believe that etherium is a long-term investment.
